@nunya#5309 sorry, I never said the video was entertaining just insightful. I get the idea they want to pull in new players, by adding the Penny Arcade "Acquisitions Incorporated" fans into that pool. What I am expecting is few of them will enjoy the arcade style D&D that play P&P (pencil and paper) version. I also foresee a lot of current members not caring for returning to old maps as we did in the Underdark campaign for demons. I recently told Thomas Foss that I love mod 14 because I am a huge fan of vampires and they really did it justice. However none of the modules (so far) have held any surprises for me. They continue to regurgitate the same trivial plot without any substance. (e.g. 1. Get sent to investigate X 2. Find X is in league with or controlled by villain Y 3. Collect currency/weapons to defeat villain Y)
How could it be better? Parriwipple the big oaf standing near Bildrath could bust into the dungeon and land the final blow. He looks at your party and says, "I told you Parriwipple help." Then the Barovians come in and carry him off on their shoulders hailing him the Hero of Barovia. After all, these people don't like you. That would be a surprise ending!
Unfortunately I am not expecting much from this new alliance of Penny Arcade and Cryptic. The last time they had an famous personality helping with a campaign was "The Dwarven King" a series of quests written by R.A. Salvatore. There was no way to write up any surprises for this one, because the author already penned and published this in his 2010 book "Gauntlgrym" already 5 years old at the time. I really hope for some "original thinking" on this new module.

I went to youtube and started watching Acquisition Incorporated's DnD games at the PAX conventions and podcasts. I have become a fan of AI and Penny Arcade. On the one hand, as a fan of table top DnD, I understand the camraderie and fun (err...zanyness) that these videos seem to portray. The fan base for Penny Arcade also seem to enjoy it. Thus, mod 15 (or whatever it will be officially titled) does seem to want to add that kind of allure into the game. On the other hand, I am not confident that it will work. I have doubts because, as the video from PAX West pointed out, the fun usually comes from the players, in creating what they want to make it zany. In this next mod, through NPC interaction, they are going to try and add the fun (i.e. through the DM). I guess it all comes down to how recycled and variable the content is. Portobello's campaign had variable content, and many praised it for having such, which seems to pattern the next mod's philosophical basis, but after running it 100x, is it still fun? Perhaps revisiting it here or there is ok, but it eventually becomes the grind. And then, the question remains, in what way did the module enhance my gaming experience through all avenues of enjoyment, especially when the existing (and more-or-less loyal) population of Neverwinter are long-time players who look for advancement, reward, and challenge.
I will still withhold judgment, and perhaps, I will be surprised by the next mod. I hope it will be huge and variable in its design. As for the rest (professions), it so little impacts me (not a masterworker, not an alt leadership farm), I care not. Others who have more experience in those areas can comment on the rework.
