PvP with the Devs - Event Info

Greetings Adventurers!

On Thursday, April 26, a group of intrepid Developers will venture into the battleground to test their mettle against your forces! We've put together some information to prepare you for this event.


Time and date?
Thursday, April 26, 4:30-6pm PT. When is this for me?

Where will the event take place?
In order to not impact any live-facing stats or metrics, the event will take place on the Preview shard. For information on how to access Preview and transfer a character, please go here.

Who will be there?
The current sign up includes 10 Developers across multiple disciplines (Design, Production, QA, etc.). They will be identified as Developers and will be part of the guild called "Cryptic Studios".

How do I play against the Devs?
The 10 Devs will group up and invite an additional 10 players, with new players each match. We have created a sign-up sheet for players on Reddit. Once the event starts, we will start going down the list. If a player is not in-game when it's their turn, we will move on to the next.

Will this event be streamed?
At this time there is no plan to stream the event from our end but we welcome players to do so if they wish.

Will you [me - the CM] be participating?
I will be managing the event/Dev participants and monitoring chat so I will not be in the battleground this time.

Will the Devs play fair?
The Development team will be made to uphold the "do not use Dev powers for evil" code of honor.

I have more questions that haven't been addressed here!

If they are a 10 man team what is the Qing schedule then what will we be playing ? is this pvp with the devs or against the devs or both/ mixed ??

so no 5 v 5 regular dom matches without pets then ?? will the devs be breaking up thier team so more player can q and enjoy the event?

We made some changes to how the teams/signs up will work.

Please keep in mind that we are always exploring better ways to streamline events that include community and developer participation and cooperation!

Why do players have to jump thru hoops(create a new account ) and go to a completely different website to sign up (reddit ) *scratches head* what was wrong with our own games forums ? also players might want to sign up for thier guild or for an entire 5 man team and not be jumbled randomly just because people signed up first

if you are a random player joining for the event make sure you join a guild on preview if not you will have no boons for the event and will be at a disadvantage against the devs level 20 guild

Taking this a bit seriously aren't we? It sounds like just a "for fun" event with 10 devs going against other 10 man groups. They probably figure that playing the devs would have enough interest that no one would actually care about group comps, map, etc.

yes I take lack of organisation and wasting players / devs time quite seriously
I also suggest using larger maps to accommodate more players so people are not left out and not have fun ... I also take that quite seriously

also knowing if player will have to equip loadouts with pets cause we are doing lagholds /stronghold siege also to be a useful heads up to have more fun and also quite serious ..cause it takes time to make loadouts and swap up proper pets etc

also not knowing if the devs comp will be a troll comp I also take quite seriously...in order to balance players team more fairly and not have 4 trs etc so people/ devs can have fun and not get stomped

Is there a way to have a PvP viewing gallery feature in the future so that people can watch matches? Would help out with watching events like this, learning for new players etc.

It's called "stream it on Twitch". LOL. Seriously though, I'm hoping a few of the people involved really do stream it.
