Lack of co-operative play. Right from the start you have to level up and on the whole that is pretty easy solo, other than a few bottleneck quests - I remember a few in the Maze Engine which I had to get help with.
Then you get to level 70 and some of the content really does need co-operation. Well it woudl be so much quicker if players worked in party together. Well... actually its just so much quicker to run the Coldwind Weekly in a group rather than solo. SOMI quests would be so much quicker with two players. RD quests as well. In general all the endgame weeklies and dailies are much faster with two or three players. And in Chult - for me Dead Reckoning is a no go. Scouts is meh solo. And Templars much the same.
So why is it that when I ask in Zone chat for others doing these quests [Chult] [before that SOMI, Bryn, Lonelywood etc] there's a big fat zero response?
Even worse, when someone is clearly about to start the same quest as you and you ask them to form a party they ignore you?
Are Neverwinter players just naturally less sociable than in other MMOs?
[Yes Im in a guild etc]

When I do open world content it's harder to group up because I tend to collect quests over different days and then do them all at once, so having someone else along means we have to figure out what quest we have in common and either I have to skip some stuff (wasting my time) or they have to waste time doing my quests.
You can take advantage of this solo. Clear the first room and take the relics. Do the same in the second room, then check the first again and grab any new relics. This works a bit better in the Thayan ruin due to its layout but the principle will work regardless.
The re-spawn may have a slight time delay. i.e. I take one in spot A. Go to spot B, nothing. Go to spot C, nothing. Go to spot B, there is one. However, I am not 100% sure if there was no other player in the ruin but there is no evidence to show there was anyone else.
If cooperation isn't the norm in your alliance, you may want to try to make it the norm (maybe not many people realize that some folks need help or just want company), or seek an alliance that better fits your play style.

- Dead Reckoning - you can both clear the mobs together and you all get credit as long as you tag any of the mobs.
- Templars - you get credit for rezzing the Templars if you just stand near them when somebody else rezzes them.
- Scouts - you just need to help kill the mobs in the group to get credit.
The only quest that is slower is the relics one since you have to wait for a respawn.
I have family who are apt to interrupt IRL - and they don't take no for an answer when they want my attention. Better to not participate in a party at all than run the risk of having to bail mid way through a dungeon.
you can try and say 30s please , but usually before you can type that someone has already launched into the next mob
Pally tank can't sprint.. the number of times I have had to run into a mob and pick up 3 people because they categorically refuse to wait for the tank to start the fight .. impulsiveness and impatience rule the day in neverwinter and if you ask for anything less you are somehow ruining the game for them.
If the dungeon scoring was accurate and reworked to be fair to all the classes input into a dungeon run and somehow gave better scores for combined efforts instead the boring way it is forcing the dps to get the 1st hits on everything before each other to artificially boost their dmg dealt totals maybe would help to curb some of this same repetitive routine.
Once in a while I do find time to help someone outside guild / Alliance, but due to my afk patterns this isn't something that can happen often.
I know this makes me seem anti-social at times, but active playtime is really depending on my time I can actually spend actively at the keyboard.
This I rather use for my own chores or helping guildies / Alliance firstly.
