You would like the "sort by buyout price" button to sort a single SMOP sold for 100k AD before a stack of 2 SMOP's sold for 140k AD.

Give it up. The OP wants the best deal, with the least amount of effort for themselves and doesn't care about anyone else unless they agree with them. If they want to overpay because they are to lazy to use the provided filters it is their lose.

The perfect solution would be to have a quantity limiter in place as a second function, e.g. Buyout + (separate box) "set Qty" to 1.

I'd also like the name search function to be radically updated:

* typing Radiant 10 in the refinement section would negate the need to either type "Radiant enchantment, rank 10" or "Radiant" and limit to purples then scroll through everything.

* search for an item at the root menu, not the sub menus. Sometimes I don't know which section an item is under so I have to guess. After a couple of tries, the (really idiotic) cooldown timer kicks in, dragging out the whole process for even longer.

and bolene.. maybe I want to see everything BUT radiants. -radiant

and this is a little unrelated but I'd LOVE a sold feature. where you could see all the items that had recently sold and at what price.

That may be more difficult that it might seem. Since quantity is not currently its own function but part of the item listing, a new tab would need to be created first giving quantity its own category. After that, they would need to code an ability to sort by more than one category. I.E., Buyout, time remaining or buyout, quantity, or any other combo found useful.
