Low level dungeons no challenge

paldamarpaldamar Member Posts: 3 Arc User
Hi,
I'm back playing the game from a long break and I tried a few runs of the first dungeon using the group finder. However I got grouped with max level players who were killing everything with one hit. I know some people like this kind of thing as they get xp/rewards with little to no effort but I like PvE because it's challenging and being walked through a dungeon is not my idea of fun. Is this how most low level dungeons are now?

Sadly, yes. The only way to avoid it is to make your own groups. Try using /zone chat. Although you may have more luck with some of them than others. The two most likely dungeons for overleveled farmers are Cloak Tower and Temple of the Spider. You may be able to get 'at level' groups in other dungeons using the Queue system, but it is hit or miss.

Players have often asked for people to be able to enter dungeons solo (via private queue) which would enable better geared players to run through them at their own pace and not interfere with those that are still levelling up.

Well there is a solution for this. If players would be able to join dungeons from privat queue without need of full group alot of this high level characters will not be ruining game experience of low level players because thay will be able to run dungeons alone and without wating in queue for rest of party. Other games have this option and thay don't have any problems with it or is Neverwinter population so low that developers are afraid that enabling this will make problems with long wating queue times?

If I want now enjoy dungeon I'm wating in queue and if there is level 70 I just leave and join queue again until there are people at my level. I'm thinking that this game have already alot of obstacles so please fix this for as. Thank you.

What they should do is add Different tiers of a dungeon. Leave the T1 lostmauth as it is. Make a T2 one. And make A T3 one. Not only lostmauth, Every dungeon that is similar to a walk in the park.

I think the queue system needs to allow players queuing for baby dungeons to choose "queue only with players in my level range". Then the 60-70s can farm in their own groups, and the lowbies can group up (players accessing Cloak Tower for the very first time ever can't even use chat). Can still straight-up pug if you don't care.

when I run into the lowbie dungeons (which is rare) I tend to spend more time in there than if I had just run an elol or a CN. If there is someone in there that isn't 70, I'll generally walk behind them and let them do their thing and just kill stuff when it looks like they need it. If it's all 70's in there then I just run through but generally there's at least one person who is lower. I just feel bad because especially that dungeon has the whole "collect all the nibbly bits and get to open the other chest of junk" that so many of them are so excited about. I don't want to be the one to take that fun from anyone.

I have to agree with opening post and also add how completely awful Lostmouth/Valindra are, running an alt that just qualified for the low level epic dungeons and then seeing BIS players sprinting through and nothing to do oneself is really not fun. One solution is it to adjust the player stats like they do for certain zones, the 16 IL people that think that Valindra is just there for speed farming should go back to first principles and ask themselves why they decided to play this game.

No, what sucks is when you can get your foot in the door and everyone else runs ahead and they don't kill everything. How many times will you die before you give up?

A dungeon that poses no challenge is no fun, having failed a dungeon a few times and then finally succeeding is infinitely preferable than having to play a running simulator.

I am sure that there some who would farm Blacklake all day if their calculations showed that was the most efficient farming methodology, but I don't think that the person that started this thread (and many players as well) is going to stick around too long if this is the supposed to be the game norm.

Yes, but when you are in an instance it is supposed to be a party; help each other, support each other. Not run ahead and leave someone behind.

@thefiresidecat I really hope this happens - and I hope the speed runners use it rather than ruining lowbie's experiences

eh you get the occasional person complaining about it on here but tbh it isn't speaking for all lowbies. I recall being very very grateful for speedrunners when I was a lowbie. the thing is these low level dungeons were never fun and the rewards were never good. there is almost nothing in a low level dungeon of any value for running it other than an occasional blue which you'll outgrow in less than a day lol. I can't believe I was alone in just wanting it done and to get to 70 so I could start on the real game. my overarching goal as a lowbie was being able to FINALLY open one of those hamstering lockboxes. I was SO happy when I was finally able to do that lol. the first six months of playing that's pretty much all I wanted to do. (the planar idols were still working then) after awhile I got bored and started putting money towards my toon. but there is no ad to be made for the most part until get to 70.

@thefiresidecat I know what you mean - on PS4 the epic dungeons were broken for a few months when the game came out - we wanted to use an epic dungeon key so badly. We spent hours and hours in VT trying to figure out what the "Trick" was so that people could kill her - then we found out the dungeons were broken and were so upset. We just wanted to open a chest with an epic dungeon key, lol.

This is really a pain. I was trying to play alt today and when I tried to do The Cloak Tower I was always paired at least with one level 70. I tried it like ten times and I must to say It's not really a fun. Please do something with this.

Same here, but I screw around when running with lowbies. I like to look for spots where I can jump/teleport to where I'm not supposed to be, air guitar during boss fights and just generally entertain myself. Having done the various dungeons many times already I find it more beneficial to keep the experience fresh by un-playing the game a bit. I've never been a huge fan of speed runs in any multiplayer game, especially when level caps are a part of the experience. I'd much rather just air guitar on top of the treasure box and let the new kids do their thing.

Unfortunately THAT will not happen. The front doors to the dungeouns are tucked away in odd corners of the maps. It is much faster to queue, so the speed runners will do that. The responsibility of tracking down the front doors & entering that way will be left to those that actually want to explore the dungeon. Unless the devs change he code to only allow lvl appropriate players to queue. Which I don't see happening :/

I mostly agree... BUTT I think the first time (or 2 - 3 times, cuz you're gonna miss stuff) you run a dungeon. it should be in a level appropriate group. I think they need to do something to make sure that players can get the full experience out of a dungeon before speed running by ALL the content. It makes me really sad that the spellplague cavern is back. & most players have never really seen it... cuz they ran by everything!!! :(

now see I'd be annoyed if I were a lowbie and running with you. because you could be helping but instead you're doing nothing. when there ould be a third person helping.

You shouldn't need to go to the door now we have private queues - we should just be able to hit 'private' then 'queue' and enter it solo.

First, I'm one who has done this, though I don't run them every day. Just when I'm really bored and want some extra rAD. When I do run these (and I submit again, it's not often), I really don't care if the other two take forever to get to the last door. I understand that they may want to explore, and know that I'm kinda on their turf.

Remembering when I was "at-level" for the dungeons with someone else burning through, it was mixed for me. It was great that I could finish for sure. But yeah, it kinda felt like I needed to rush through too, diminishing the experience.

Might I suggest a simple solution? Scale the rAD return based on actual character level. Something like a linear drop so you reach maybe 100rAD when you hit "x levels above the dungeon." That way if someone wants to help a guildmate through, they can. But if they want AD, they'll look elsewhere.

I help when it looks like they need it, but otherwise I hang back. I can blow up an entire group with one button, so I try not to just nuke everything.
