Strange Environmental Hazard Death During Boss Fight

Not sure what I am missing but, during my battle to defeat General Fury, near the end of quest "Chapter 2: The Sword of Justice", a strange fiery hail storm starts up while fighting and drains my health. I've looked at YouTube clips of others playing this section and this storm never occurs during their play-through.

I hope there is a simple solution to why this is happening. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

There are a couple of minions in that fight and one is a caster. Afaik, that's just a normal power for that mob type and anyone who's recorded a video of this fight probably just steamrolls everything too fast for it to happen.
