So Celeste...
  • Drains Neverwinter's coffers to "get components" needed to resurrect Makos.
  • Is "unable" to resurrect Makos in the end.
  • Requests to have Makos body burned to make sure that no one else can try to ressurect Makos.
  • Instantly sides with the new villain with the flimsiest claim, pushing Neverwinter into chaos.
I know someone would be proud...

Since she does not even recognize you, I'm sure she got brainwashed / controlled. By an Aboleth for example.... they are known for that stuff.

If this is in reference to the second chapter, keep in mind that you are in disguise (even if you didn't change appearance). Celeste seems to think you seem... strangely familiar, somehow. But she doesn't know you because your disguise is too good.

Celeste does not trust Neverember, does not trust him to cede power to a true heir if one were found, and this was telegraphed in the Maze Engine story quests. She believes that Gyrion might have a legitimate claim and she won't fight him unless she is certain he is false. Celeste tries to do what she believes is right even if it goes against authority (I might have a lot of Celeste feels).

IRT OP: D&D rules for resurrecting a character actually don't require a body for the really advanced spellcasting. Resurrection could theoretically be performed from ashes. True resurrection only requires that the deceased can be clearly identified even if their body was entirely destroyed. But the spirit MUST be willing to return. IMO, Makos knows what he's doing, and we have not seen the last of him.

Well since I know the lore about Neverember (mostly the updates in Sword Coast Adventurers Guide) I never really liked him. Instead of just be a masked lord of waterdeep and serve his city. He left it and went to neverwinter where he claimed the crown. He is not even the rightfull ruler, just a "protector".

I saw something like this coming and am not unhappy. ^^

He didn't leave. He was thrown out. He wasn't a masked lord. He was the Open Lord. He hasn't claimed the crown.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.
