Am I overracting to AFK players?

Have you ever been in a CTA or a festival event that requires group participation and you end up with that one AFK player who refuses to help to reach end goal but waits it out till the very end to collect the rewards?

Not always. But sometimes, in group chat I call that person out. Never anything offensive. But tounge-in-cheek. Sarcasm. I will say something in group chat like, "Thanks for helping out 'named player'!"

Should I just say, "Meh". And let that stuff roll off my shoulders? I just find that behavior a bit annoying and rude.

I typically call for everyone to join on hanging out and being afk.
More often than not, the original afk leaves after a couple minutes, and we all continue on.

You can report the player to the DMs. What they do with it who knows. But if said players always does this and gets enough reports on him or her, they may become ban for a short time.

These are what I do. Most of the time I'll just leave but on occasion, I'll spam my encounters and jump on and over the AFKer until they either start participating or leave. Quite often too, I am accompanied by my best friend and we're in voice chat together, so we'll both do this. Most of the time when we/I do this, others notice and join in and if they don't, I'll say something like, "Join us/me in this AFKed jump-a-thon until [name] decides to participate!"

They should just make it so that if they don't participate then they won't get to open the chest at the end.

@dukeguard#8158 I completely agree. No participation, no goodies. That's how it should be anyone.

Isn't there a kick option? I've never noticed as I've never needed to use it.

I message them that if they don't leave spawn I will kick them. If my team doesn't vote to kick them then I don't play out of protest. I had one the other night where I was the only Level 70 in the group and it took 5 minutes for them to kill the boss.

Leaving the instance probably would have been smarter. But I was so irritated that no one supported kicking him.

There is a kick option, but it doesn't always work, even when everyone votes yes.

Also, about the don't participate equals no rewwrds

Good idea, but next too impossible to implement.
What would be the guide lines, limits, etc?
It would be hard to have something that doesn't go too far in the wrong direction while not being able to be easily fooled.
Which is why I don't think there is anything like that already.

% Combat time participation. They already have a counter for combat time, shown by overload enchants and relic gear...yada yada.

If you are a tank you can pull the mobs near the player. I have done this in PoM and other runs and the AFK player gets the mic all upset. I'm like well, next time don't join a group if you don't plan to play.

If scoring variables are used to calculate participation, then what happens to players like me who often get matched up with those who have faster movement speed and run ahead gobbling up all the kills? (My hunter is soooooo slooooooow.) Better to implement a modified idle kick setting that is a bit less forgiving when in groups if you ask me. I can't say I share your frustrations with afk players really tbh. I'd prefer an afk to being left in the dust like I all too often experience. The players who rush straight through to the boss and just sit there waiting, leaving me to battle my way there all by my lonesome. Those are my equivalent to your afk I think.

It is very frustrating that someone gets the benefit from your work. But those events are typically easy to finish even with an AFK member.

I like the idle check idea, and maybe add power usage.

I would just say don't let that get to you. Put it to a kick vote, and if it doesn't work, and you're still bugged by it, then just leave. Personally, I don't care. I'm doing it for me, so as long as I can finish it, I'm fine.
