There is none. Lost count of how many times some ill mannered, sniping HAMSTER has stolen my quest objective from a campaign daily quest while I'm clearly killing the mobs guarding it so I can claim it. Shameful behaviour, just makes me want to quit and stick to offline games when you encounter so many selfish people.
I had someone lock me in a wall in Dread Ring once - that was infuriating. I opened the "hidden wall" and was about to destroy the cache when the monsters repopped and I was in combat. I was standing next to the cache while fighting and someone runs in, destroys the cache and the wall comes back - with me trapped inside of it. I had to use "defeat me" to get out of it. Quite annoying.

I have become a little better at letting this slide. As an avid pvp'r, I kinda had to but it did take me a long time. People talk so much trash in pvp. Ok dude, you one shot me on your rogue.. and if you don't one shot me you immediately run away. Good job? Don't need to spam noob in chat.
If people take my quest objectives, they obviously need it more than I do. It's frustrating. I don't have time to let it get to me though. You guys are right, most games are like this now. It is however, the only thing I truly miss about the EverQuest playerbase. That game harbored so much respect it was ridiculous. Last time I was on, I had someone ask if they could inspect me.
Etiquette is lost on new games. I'm not one to call people kids, but maybe that is the case more often than not. It's all about spammy catch phrases and trash talk now. A far cry from the games I was raised on where people would patiently stand in line to kill a mob that had a 2+ hour spawn time.
I do miss when running across a nasty person in a game was startling. Now I'm more surprised when I run across polite people. So I collect them

I run into rude people a lot. I have also ran multiple times with people that are quite polite. I would suggest blocking the rude ones and adding the polite ones to your friends list. I am patient and love running with polite folks! So feel free to add me if you would like. PSN: allmightymunky. OP pally 69 (will be over 1600 when I hit 70) TR 2532 IL.
There are a few unicorns out there, I encountered one yesterday in Sharandar doing the daily where you open the pods and give the elf a sword, one guy started attacking the redcaps while I was midway through them, I staunchly defended the pod thinking he was gonna snipe it but he backed off, respectfully and went to another one. A rare breed though unfortunately

Hah. Could've been me. I tore through Sharandar killing stuff and noticed I ripped into a few groups of people that someone was already fighting. I never take quest stuff and saw the guy get visually eager to make sure he could hit the objective before I did. A lot of those in there will count for you if you're close to the person that activates it anyway.
Oooh, your fighting the trolls in dwarven valley? I'll tip over that couldron thank you very much
I used to get angry, and then I copied them. But I'm not that person. So now if I see a tipped over cauldron, or an empty pole where some dwarves should be I'll wait patiently until they respawn (about 90s) and I can free them, or tip the cauldron, mount up and run away with a good feeling in my heart
Strange... was showing my buddy how to do the Sharandar dailies yesterday and he had the one where you have to put the sap on the wounded trees. He was clearing the goblins from a tree and someone walked up and healed it before he could. He just mumbles, "There used to be etiquette on games." I thought it was funny, and sad.. immediately reminding me of this thread.

The first week of this game was great. Everyone was helpful and nice. Now, players simply treat each other pretty bad.
I know how the original poster feels. Many times I have had this happen to me. I do the opposite. If someone is going for X and they get swarmed by Y, I will help take out Y with a few spells or buff them using Blessing of Battle and Divine Glow and than I walk way without taking their node. They were their first, they should get it.
One player I helped out I than went to my own node only to have them swipe it from me. I than sent them a tell containing a phrase from Dora the Explorer, I wrote them 'Swiper no swipning!" I did not get a reply back from the player, but they also stopped stealing my nodes. Maybe they knew the phrase as well. LOL
I went into one CN after I hit over 2500+ and boy did players in there hate me. I even put into the group chat and than raid chat: "First time in here, what are the mechanics." I got to hear this "F.... noob...Let's kick him..."
Keep in mind this was mid-August when many players were still around 2K or less.
That said I don't worry too much what people think of me in game anymore....which is also sad I guess
Use to be a reputation was worth holding up. Amongst a bunch of reprobates what's it worth though, market economy wise, lol? I run into more pubs that are either silent & basically loaded for bear in the apathy department....or the less desirable alternative....full of mean folks...than I do cool folks Id like to add & interact with. That's not just this game or console too, but a wide experience across the gaming gamut
That said, my parents raised me to have manners & be respectful; not for admiration or ire or anything to be noted over; I play by my code because I believe it's the right thing to do.

I'll stop playing online before I change that.
It is a sad state of society. I mean players on the game get all up in arms if you mess something up in a GAME. Than I hear about how they wasted time in the dungeon in a GAME, which is an entertainment medium designed to use your time. I mean players simply cannot see things for what things are. This is a game and if you get upset or angry over it quit. It will be much better for you health. If you enjoy it and are not getting all upset, than continue playing.
I honestly don't care that much any more if someone steals something for me. I simply go to the next one as I'm in the game passing time rather than doing some other activity.

Where possible, when I do any content that requires actions that could be griefable by others, I'll switch to the least populated instance of a zone to minimize such an incident.
However, there are much less objectives in the game that can be "stolen" anymore, as most have been made to be shared among participants and nearby folk. For example, the "Dead Men Do Tell Tales" quest in Neverdeath Graveyard where you have to "Disrupt rituals and/or break summoning circles (0/6)" is credited to anyone close enough to the action when the objective is triggered. What I'd suggest, that instead of ranting about this "behavior," is to actually post a detailed list or reports of the repeatable quest objectives that people are able to "steal" or otherwise "grief." That way the developers can go through and adjust them as they deem necessary.
Would this be the right place to post a list? I can't remember the names of the quests but a lot of the ones in Sharandar can be stolen. Such as the one where you have to revive the people near the gas that can't breathe. i'll start a list next time I'm doing dailies if that helps.

Give me a few, I'll start an "Official" thread that can be used to forward to the developers.

That's a really good point Zeb, the devs have gone a long way to make this stuff better. Many of the objectives that are "stealable" now share with people closeby (like portal hounds in Sharandar for instance). Others respawn very quickly (like troll supplies in Lonelywood). Still others allow 2 players to simultaneously interact, so if you're quick you can both benefit from the node (like mast timber in Lonelywood).
There are still some that are stealable, don't share with those closeby, and as far as I can tell don't allow simultaneous interactions. Those are the most annoying. Off the top of my head: dryads/trees in Sharandar, pod guardians in Sharandar, mines to collapse in DV, thayan supplies in WoD. Maybe i'll start a topic like you suggested...

I agree, either a good group of friends or a good guild that becomes a good group of friends makes this game so much more fun.

proper etiquette would be to give me 10% of your daily drops, but that aint happening either, and if you want me to stop posting nonsense because im bored to heck, bring the game up early wooo
I see your nonsense and raise you a duck and a professions pack - your play @grendlerose#7658, your play

Many objetives count to both, if someone activate. I have to tell i not sure what count or not, i usualy dont get mad if someone do the objective when i am killing the mobs, and i usualy do the objective if someone is killing (or i help kill too)...
And not everyone are able to kill the mobs, i see aloot new players in map, who ask group or wait for help, becouse they class cant solo, or are not geared.
But if you want keep the objective, is pretty simple, just lure the mobs over the objective, when someone go activate he will be hitted and will need help kill to activate. Is how i do, when i need help in somenthing what i know dont share the reward. Many objectives you dont have to kill, is just one lure out, and the other activate, you can do in seconds anything this way.
