Solo Queue and Ambush Ring

@panderus @terramak - Just a thought here, but you should consider extending the Solo Queue event for another week and see how your Ambush Ring change (which I support, though I personally feel doesn't go far enough) effects the overall experience. It will give you a good, hard line in your data too - a week with existing rings and a week with the changed version.

This will help your analysis in two ways.

1. You can see the difference in pvp between how it is currently and how it is with the change with solo queue in effect.
2. Most importantly. You can rule out any problems or oddities you might have in your existing data set. Understand, the Ambush ring is a huge imbalance in PvP, so a lot of data you may have collected over the past week may not be as accurate as you may think, especially since you're changing this major PvP imbalance AFTER you are scheduled to stop collecting solo queue pvp data.

I think to ensure your data is accurate, you should extend the Solo Queue experiment.

    Heck yeah.

Another issue with the timing selected for the Solo Queue trial was to run it concurrently with one of the more popular CTAs.

I also agree that the Solo Q should run longer.

I've also noticed that folks have figured out that queuing together often results in you being on the same team. I've played 3-4 games in a row where 4/5 opponents were the same (and were from a PVP guild, obviously). Objectively, it seems like the system more or less fills up the matches in order 5 on one team, 5 on another and triggers the q accept when the match fills up. So if folks consistently queue together they can often get on the same team.

It's a shame, because it reintroduces the whole pug vs. premade feel you get in regular queue. I'm not sure if it's possible to look at randomizing the teams once you complete a group of 10 players, or better yet doing some sort of iLvl balance among the group of 10.

Been having a lot of fun, but the frequency of landslide matches with drastically imbalanced iLvl is still too high.

We will be running the Solo Queue again as well as another similar Queue in the coming weeks and months to see how players react.

I agree that the ring changes will help, though I have not seen TOO many people using it when I have played.

I have for sure - though in truth, the anti-ring sentiment has probably made a difference just as it did with drains before they were changed.

Also, in the middle of a fight with multiple folks, sometimes it's hard to tell when some pops invisible. It's when you're 1v1 that it becomes a problem.

Good news that there will be more opportunities, I would suggest for subsequent tests though to coordinate to make sure there won't be any major changes that will affect pvp and also other queue events like CTA that might affect participation numbers, otherwise all the variables make it hard to tell whats really going on.

Saw someone decked out in +4 Ambush and +4 Vanishing Presence and an AP drain (the other was an anti-rogue mark or ward) talking about how Solo Queue made PvP "fun again".

haha, that's probably just because he could kill solo pugs with his patheticware rather than get stomped despite it by premades.

@panderus I really don't understand why you would bother to remove the solo queue??? It has made many people very happy and seems very low maintenance.

What IS funny is a HR with the broken mechanics AND an Ambush +4 and 2.7 iL... was telling me that I do not know how to PvP. That I was the reason we lost both of the matches that we had been in together... despite scoring the most and distracting the other tea... up to 3 at a time.

Same feeling, please leave solo queue up while you fiddle with the teaming algorithm, it's been a really nice week.
No idea what my toon is now.

I've been enjoying the Solo Queue a lot, sometimes you get stomped but it's fun to work with what you've got even if some games are absolutely unwinable. I also see groups that are obviously trying to game the system by queuing at the same time. And they're doing it for the same reason as they killed GG, to stomp pugs, to get an easy win.

I didn't do as much as I wanted, as Becky mentioned there was Battle for the Bridge which is a nice quick CTA as well as other activities that I don't like to interrupt, dailies etc but I got my first Prestige piece today which was very satisfying.

I haven't seen anyone running with ambush rings in the solo queue and I have played a ton. Every time I think someone is using one I end up looking at their toon and they don't have one on. They end up having a T-shadowclad.

Shadowclad, lol, I probably hate that thing as much as controllers hate my EB.
