If you don't want it, don't buy it.

Should you need to schedule your vacation in between VIP renewals in order to not miss any rewards?

I can very much see why people would like the option to put it on pause, particularly since some perks are use-it-or-lose-it.

    It's not an unreasonable request.

Most people take their laptops with them when they go.

Most? Many may not even have a laptop. Also, internet connection. If you go for a cruise, you don't want to use internet.

It would be awesome, tbh, some ppl bought VIP 12 and then...? We aren't allowed to skip one day of NW for a whole year? Trust me I tried, but I've missed already like half a month or more, I don't want to whine about it nor ask for a refund and its completely fine, but to "pause" your VIP would be a great idea.

Consoles would find a feature like this pretty useful and I'm sure some PC players too.
  • oldbaldyoneoldbaldyone Member Posts: 1,840 Arc User
Would be a great idea for the players. But they wont do it. The entire point is to provide incentives to logging in everyday. They win if you miss days. If they allow you to stop it you wont buy as often.

Im sorry but rarely does any subscription service allow you to put the service on hold and i dont see them doing it.
  • kuero21kuero21 Member Posts: 454 Arc User
Yea, if we were allowed to pause it, nothing would keep us from pausing vip before logging off. You could buy a year of subscription but play for several years.
Its just not going to happen.

Yea, while pausing is a little too extensive, they should allow us to collect our Enchanted Keys from the gateway.

Unclaimed ViP rewards should just go to the Rewards Claim Agent in PE.

I also would like this, but PWE would lose money if they added this option.
If you could pause VIP for 2 months you would buy the next VIP 2 months later, which is money lost for PWE.

And mostly PWE is driven by getting you money, not keeping it in your wallet. And, of course, to make you happy and supply you with a happy gaming experience!

Honestly, it's like asking your cable company to stop your flat rate connection because while you are on vacation or at the office.

try sending the letter to your cable company:
I am unable to use my internet from 0700 to1700 due to being at the office and from 2400 to 0700 due to sleep.
Be a luv and reduce my internet fee by 60 percent

Yea yea... Well, pausing won't happen... The OP is overwishful... Just let us collect our keys from gateway and you don't have to see such posts :p

Exactly. I went on vacation this summer. I didn't get to pause my Netflix or Hulu subscription for a week, since I wouldn't be watching those at the beach. I still had to pay my bill for a full month of Internet service even though I didn't use it.

It's just not how the world works.

I think they're pretty clear on what the VIP 30-day subscription is, and I don't think any expectation was set before purchasing that you'd be able to pause or only have days that you logged in count against it.

This really isn't an issue that Cryptic deserves to take a hit over.

FORGET PAUSING! :p Let's talk about just the keys... I'm sure many people are turning to bots and friends for the keys... Let's not have a need for that.

I feel like this is the best solution. I'm still not in favor of awarding players for not actually playing, but it is still better than being able to just pause VIP because I feel like there are people in this game who'd find some way to exploit that.

I paid for a year's worth of VIP in November and have missed maybe two months of it so far, and it really isn't that bad. Although VIP is a nice thing to have, it isn't the reason why I play Neverwinter.

    Well, yes, indeed.
What happen is that people share their account details (login & PW) so friends acquire the key, most probably breaching all kind of rules they never read but accepted. Sooner or later there will be lots of outcries AGAIN for robbery, hacking, insecure PWE etc.
So, handling the daily key in a different way might be positive for PWE (less support claims/bureaucracy) and VIPs (get one key per day if you log on or do not)

The thing they were clearest about was that it wasn't a subscription. The point isn't what the expectations were but what might add value to the not-a-sub in the future. It's not an unreasonable request.

While I would love to have the ability to pause VIP, or reclaim a missed key because of some holiday/vacation/etc...it's a totally unrealistic, and quite honestly sad example of our spoiled society, expectation. I'll repeat: I would love to have this feature. But seriously, this is just greed at it's highest level.

You paid for 30 days of access to something. If you don't show that's not on the business and, make no mistake, this is a business not a game.

You don't call your cable company and whine that you want to pause your internet or tv service for 4 days because you'll be out of town and can't stream or play.

You can put your service on hold. Generally it's not done for 4 days, but if you go away for the summer you can do it.

^^This!! Netflix and Hulu don't work the same as VIP, coz NW's VIP gives you a reward if you log in daily; i.e. ESO plus gives the rewards monthly, not daily. Costumers appreciate added value and if you get to claim your monthly keys in the Rewards Claim Agent, that would be something really useful and attractive so even more people would get VIP.

I agree it's about as likely as hell freezing over. But why denigrate this business's customers when they provide feedback on enhancements they desire to the services that they pay for? It's a transaction and there is self-interest (you call it greed) on both sides - we already knew that. Other posters made constructive suggestions such as claiming keys through gateway or having the benefits automatically credited. Have you got anything constructive to add?

The rest of the world calls that ending a subscription and starting a new one a few months later. I've never heard of a service providing company that allows you to put your subscription on hold for a bit just because it suits you. Not in this part of the world, and I doubt it'll be done in many other places. Even socialist Russia didn't let you get away with such requests.

Well, I don't know which world you're are from but we over here are certainly allowed to pause our TV subscriptions.

There's nothing constructive to be added. There's simply no way they will allow you put your sub/vip/whatever on hold whenever it suits your selfish needs. I'm with ecrana on this. Nice, but not realistic and a typical sign of this new generation trying to squeeze every little bit of profit out of everything. You don't want to make ViP easier. You want it changed so it suits your irresponsible greedy whims.

Let's go back to the milk analogy for a moment. Can you return any milk you haven't used before it went bad? Do you expect to get a free refill for the amount you left behind? Do you think you should be able to? Then why do you expect something like this to happen? What nerve must you possess to suggest it?
Common sense.. so rare it's almost a superpower these days.. It's all about being selfish now. To quote Agent Smith: Me, me me. Me too!
Heaven forbids we take responsibility for our own actions. Let's just blame the seller for me not using my purchase! Good job folks. /sarcasm.
You could always leave that milk with your neighbour and get fresh ones back when you return. If you know to make friends that is. And by you I don't mean 'you', but the person who's reading this :p

I fail to understand how leaving your milk with a friend gets you anything. You still have failed to get any use out of the milk and therefore are no better off then you would have been had the milk spoiled in your fridge. Not to mention that I sure wouldn't want my neighbors secondhand milk. ;)

I'll apologize if anyone actually felt denigrated by any of my comments. Considering I included myself in the greedy masses I thought it was obvious that I am FOR the idea. As for constructive ideas...hmmm I say I'm in favor of the original idea so I don't see why I would need to add further to it.

Apparently, poking holes in ideas is a no-no for some people and we're all just supposed to say "Love the idea and I totally believe it can happen".
