Why no temporary Ban when people quit Tiamat / Missions ?

cavewarkcavewark Member Posts: 3 Arc User
In other cryptic games when people quit groups / missions etc they are prevented from joining another queue for normally an hour. WIth the time frame on tiamat people quitting the mission Litterally 10 seconds after starting can normally cause it to fail for everyone else in that raid.

Which when your waiting to complete tiamat and this happens on a regular occurance couldnt cryptic implement a short term ban for say an hour and a half to prevent people from just quitting the raid thus condeming it to everyone else.

Well there are bans, but the selection of affected is strange. You're getting 30 minutes for PVP and Demogorgon. Past has shown such penalties were not able to solve any problems anyway.

so then they will sit in spawn until tiamat fails and you have the same issue. PvP has a leaver penalty and it has caused some incredible problems before because disconnections are counting as leaving, even when the play was back on within a minute, and applying the leaver penalty as well as removing the player from the match.

if you are having issues with queuing for tiamat you should premake a tiamat queue group with your guild/alliance/friends and enter that way, same with dungeons. Solo queuing into stuff like that is just asking for the pain and suffering you have been experiencing

That much I agree with. Sad as it is, that does seem to be the only way.

However, I also agree that the leaver penalty should apply to PvE content as well as PvP as long as you PuG. Not for private queues obviously. I won't make any friends with the following statement, but someone having a crappy internet connection or a horrible PC is not my (or Cryptic's) problem. Entering an instance with other people means taking a certain responsibility for your role in the team. It's time people in this game grow up and accept that they are part of a team when they enter. As the saying goes: If you can't take the heat, stay out of the bleedin' kitchen. As you say, it won't solve the campfire campers issue. But since the game already keeps "score" in the instance, I'm sure there's a way to get that resolved as well. It's just a simple matter of kicking people (with penalty) who do not score enough points each phase. Perhaps that'll teach people with 2k armpen to stay out of Tiamat as well and we might actually return to a decent success rate. That in turn will draw people into playing Tiamat more. They should also change the requirements so that your armpen value becomes a requirement to enter. IL requirements never worked well, and probably never will.

But before all that happens, I like to see some other things happen first. Like Cryptic/PWE getting their servers and infrastructure reliable enough so that they meet the industry's standards at the very least. Right now the game is so full of bugs that maintaining a decent connection is hard enough without going into any instance.

Of course, if people would just stop grieving other people all this wouldn't even be under discussion. But with the community as we have it, I don't see that happen anytime soon. So very sad. Once upon a time playing MMOs meant playing a co-op game. Not here.

As I've said before: if the game chooses to effectively ban me from playing it because I don't want to be in a needlessly frustrating situation, I won't play it any more. I'm here to play a game, have fun, and relax. Not to toil and labor through hopeless and unrewarding situations.

Not that I alone constitute a meaningful reason they're still profitable, of course.

Playing the game should be its own reward.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Then don't PuG and you won't have any issues. If you PuG, it's only fair that you're expected to see the instance through, regardless of IL or player proficiency. And before you say "what if we can't complete the instance?", read the upcoming patch notes. There's a vote option coming so you can all choose to abandon the instance. Yes, I do hope that's a sign that leaving PvE instances will be punished similar to leaving PvP instances.

Do I find it sad that such measures are needed? absolutely. But there seems to be no other way to stop people from grieving.

People will just grief you by refusing to vote to abandon an instance even when it's clearly impossible.

Just like people can grief in PvP by camp sitting or otherwise not contributing.

What should be devs concerns = proper feedback on classes, proper feedback on game play, proper feedback on pricing.

What should not be devs concerns = how players fail to interact with community.. not their concern.

    Why should it be?

IT distracts them from actual game.

The only fix they ever had to do was basically make it so 3 poeple had to kick instead of 2. Even then I didnt care per se..

other then that.. join people who know what they are doing.

It is their concern as long as ppl can enter lvl 70 skirmishes with 100 IL, Tiamat with an IL, that can not contribute anything (with 90% of the players behind the chars) and the min IL is a min IL as far as 'with this IL you cant contribute, but you might find someone to carry you'.

If I que PuG I dont mind carrying more, then an equal share, but I did not opt for a solo run. I dont expect from a PuG group, that they clear CN in 10 minutes, but on the other hand I dont want to fail for 1 1/2 hours.

To all you ppl talking about 'contract' or 'responsibility' etc. First of all, this is a game, so there are ZERO obligations. Second, even if you assume some code of conduct, this is an arrangement with multiple parties. If one or more of them try to cheat me, I have ZERO obligation, to carry their sorry asses.

BTW I know, that good players with certain parties can do everything at min IL, but this just shows, that some synergies are OP, not, that ppl with min IL contribute much to the team in 99% of the runs.

Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

+ to that. I do pug on daily basis for dungeons but never for tiamat/edemo. Why should I? Hell why would anyone? It's not hard at all to find a decent channel/guid. Premade success rate is really close to 100% minus HAMSTER happens. If y do pug for 10-25 men content hoping to get that many decent players knowing too well ,that any newbie with random gear can enter, plus awesome cryptic grouping often puting healers & gfs to the same group... y kinda asking for it. As for the dungeons. I dont care about itl as long as ppl really trying their best, ask questions & willing to learn/follow directions. Otherwise sorry but as was mentioned we didn't sign to carry through the clueless lazy kids who sometimes don't even speak English. Hell true solo runs is often easier and surely more fun than that. Again don't forget the awesome queue system when y can easily end up with 5 fps in cn. No one should be punished for that. The abandon option in the new mod? In the ideal world were all are honest & polite it would work but we aren't living in one. Get ready to get trolled.

I pug all content to test the waters. Tiamat, no problem, got gold first time through it. Demo same thing, gold first time through it. Both times I was a beast healer. Tiamat I had over 8 million in healing, yeah I felt like I was solo healing that thing. Next closest for healing at 2 million. Say what...

2nd Demo run I got my butt spanked in healing but I went with my traditional dungeon loadout and not a group healing loadout like I did the firs ttime thorugh. I liked both and both were not all that hard. Maybe in the Tiamat run there was some preformed groups and I simply help filled it out with my OP heals.

I keep seeing players state noobs, etc...I hope so on the PS4 as most players have not really got into this game and many are just hitting end game. IMO, many of the more experience players are the noobs, because they forget that not everyone gets to end game in 2 days or buy there way to best gear.

I personally like to enjoy the game while also trying to get to to end game as soon as possible. If I don't enjoy a game I simply quit. Also, end game IL is not really based solely on gear but more on enchantment level and it will take most players a while to achieve a high IL, unless of course the players buys a ton of keys to open up a ton of LB.

I like to find a nice balance between buying and grinding. I like where I am at which is slightly above 2500 IL. I will work my way up to 3K but not at the pace some players have. Slow and steady IMO is the best way to truly enjoy a game like this.
