Cannot kick/promote/etc a guild member

I was cleaning out inactive members in our guild roster and came across a member that had 0 guild options on it. No kick button, no promote button, absolutely nothing but the regular options you usually get when you meet a stranger.

We have a separated chat channel for our guild, so I checked and saw that this player was online. Turns out this player gave both his/her toons the same name. Once I asked him/her to log on the character in our guild with, the character options to kick, promote etc returned.

So in short what happened: Someone had not logged in on that character for 21 days, named 2 characters exactly the same and that caused it to bug out in our members list.

It should not be possible to name two characters exactly the same, as name@handle is a unique identifier (preventing issues like what you saw, for example).

You can get very similar-looking names using special characters, but those shouldn't confuse the programming. I'm not sure if the game permits case-sensitivity in creating a "unique" name (Tom vs. tom) but then has the possibility to fluff things because the names are parsed as the same sometimes.

They were absolutely identical. That is why I was so confused too as this should not be possible.
