? How to accumulate 15 Protector's Figurines ?

merileemerilee Member Posts: 38 Arc User
If the event lasts a week and you get one Figurine a day [ and they disintegrate after 45 days so you can't carry them over to next year ], apart from buying them from the Zen Store, how does one get 15 ?

I apologize for this being an obviously silly question but I really can not figure this out.

Change to event without change to store pricing, see discussion here:

I appreciate the reply but I have no clue what this means.

I was wondering about this myself, I have 1 character I need to get a key for this year and there isn't enough figurines by doing the quests, I wonder if this was an oversight or intended and a way to get some zen sales

@strumslinger can you check and see if this is WAI please?

You can get them from the Protector's Bounty and the Protector's Hospitality as well. Be sure you are opening those.

kreatyve, my understanding is the Bounty only gives one on the first one opened per day. To confuse matters more, I opened 7 this morning and did not get the Figurine, so I am wondering what the timer is set for ~ since I last opened a Bounty or a set time of day. Further, as far as I can see, the Hospitality ~gives~ a Figurine to another player, not to ourselves, or am I mistaken?

Word is the daily figurine is on a separate, character specific timer. Cause you know, those have ALWAYS worked out well..... :(

Do protection orders, and then follow the merchant back (you get drops from that when you or ANYONE initiates it, so just team up or wait around the merchant for someone else to start it. I think everyone in the circle around the merchant has a chance for a bounty drop (or whatever that case is).

Yes, the reset time for the figurine was set to "Maximum Dumb". I suspect a significant fraction of players will be denied one day's worth of figurines because they aren't OCD and can't log on and play at exactly the same times every day, slowly pushing forward their timer until they lose a day's worth.

I happen to be OCD and I've been watching the clock AND I've been doing the event through out the day. I have ~only~ gotten the Figurine from the Hospitality of friends two days running now. I have ~not~ gotten the Figurine from any Protector's Bounty in two days.

So does anyone know the actual cooldown length for the 'First pack per day' figurine? I didn't get one after waiting 20 hours, I did get one after waiting 24 hours (and 10 minutes), so it should be somewhere between those two.

Also, can anyone confirm if/how the event currencies (figurines and renown) expire? They each show a 43d cooldown timer on the item. Otoh, people in zone chat have told me that the renown doesn't expire (maybe this was different previously?).

Finally, does anyone have any info on how many days after the event ends that the vendor will stick around? Since we can still open 1 box per day (for at least 43 days, judging by the timer) - it looks like the figurine limit would be set by when the vendor goes away more than the boxes you have available.

    Thanks for any help!

If an "event currency" expires it always shows a timer for it in the "tool tips" if you mouse over the currency, also with every "event" there will be a "store/npc" on the Dais in PE until the following maintenance day (Thursday of the week after the event ended)..........In regards to the "protector's bounty" boxes, this is from the "news" section under the Jubilee feed....."Players can earn temporary discounts in other stores, novelty items, and much more, all free while the event is running!" (not sure if that means the stuff won't be available (since usually it is) or they do mean what it says)

    I hope this helps,

Once you reach the Epic Zone....the Figurine drop rate increases to like 1 out of every 6 Hospitality. :)

Just showin everybody that 15 Figurines can be easily obtain'd without any purchasing. Ya just have to share some Hospitality. <3

How much have you built up? I've shared over 80 and only received one figurine in that time.

Ya first have to give away 100 hospitality before the figurines and other goodies start rolling in. :#

I hate the hospitalities. Terrible implementation. Vague, misleading, unenjoyable, completely undetailed...

No, not really. I've opened up over 300 and didn't get any. If that is the drop rate, don't expect to get 15.

No, only if you are lucky. I'm well into the "epic" zone and haven't gotten any. I personally don't care since I don't need 15 but this is really poor attention to detail on their part.

that's a great idea. Problem. GETTING hospitality. My average toon HAS THREE. After opening 35 chests each. So right now my ONLY avenue is Zen. And that's BS.

You would not get anything good until you opened 100 boxes.
    People has been opening hundreds.
I personally don't care about Figurines but I have 12 without actually trying. I did open over 100 boxes for my main character. What I wanted were C-ward, P-ward and discounted coupon.
With over 20K renowns, I have to spend them on lunch box and that took forever to click, click...

There is nothing special about the garden. I won't spend money on that key.

What most of you never saw!!!

First ya need to open up 100 Bounties and give out 100 Hospitalities to get the chance at the good stuff. 100 Hospitality means ya have to open around 500 Bounties.

The changes made to this event effectively ruined it. The gift boxes didn't really contain anything worthwhile and the figurine store became astronomically more expensive in terms of time required to obtain anything. The time I put in running the event on three characters was effectively wasted; I couldn't even pool the figurines between them to get what even one of them wanted.

If the event isn't fixed next year I won't bother.
@Venture-1 @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that far back. Yes, *that* Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. For me it was Tuesday.

The changes made to this event effectively ruined it.

The changes to the event effectively ruined it if-and-only-if you were trying to acquire a large number of items from the figurine store, which had never previously been a problem.

The changes were a big improvement for players looking to the event for wealth-building or personal progression (rather than collecting gewgaws). The discounts were actually a major opportunity if you were in a position to take advantage of them.

The big failure, in my opinion, was not hitting the right balance for new and established players to all get what they wanted.

Also, because doing the event "properly" required focus on one character, having all the big-ticket items from the renown store bind to character really doesn't work well anymore. Making the thrones and mount bind to account would make a lot more sense when the most benefit comes from escorting the merchant on a single character. Get some fun stuff for your alts, and not have buckets and buckets of currency on a single character with effectively nothing to spend it on.

tl;dr Too hard to get enough figurines even on a single character, but renown suffered from gaining far more than single character could reasonably spend.
