The quest Refining Enchantment Shards.

I get the quest from Neverember. I talk to a guy and get 4 shards and are told to refine them. At 1% success, that's a lot of pres. wards or a coal. ward, either option is more expensive than the lesser ench. i would end up with. Hmmm, what's this quest even worth... 821 xp and some change! Forget that! Ok, J for journal, aband... CAN'T ABANDON!!

What do i do now, Cryptic?

I have a quest that has the opposite of a reward taking up a quest slot and 4 shards taking up an inventory slot, and a company that is notorious for being slow to address specific concerns. Seriously, if i put in the report now, how long could i expect for a fix? Months? There is another quest given by Neverember but i have not looked at it for fear that it may be doubly bad.

I feel powerless, frustrated, and angry. I just want to enjoy this game. Please help.

You just take refine the shards without a ward. It doesn't need to succeed to finish the quest.

This. Or use one pres ward if you really don't want to blow the shards.

I got lucky on my TR with it. Everyone else, eh.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Considering all the shards together are worth less than one pres ward I think it's an obvious choice.

Its not a quest so much as a sales pitch. You are supposed to fail the refinement so you can see how much better the game would be if you dropped some real worrld currency to improve your success chance.

Thank you, what a relief. :D will try that.

may have jumped the gun on that one, but there have been similar experiences.

I wonder though how many people have spent the pres/coal wards not knowing that. It's not that clear, in fact, it's counter-intuitive.
