neverwinter icewind dale is dead?

titel says it all, everytime i go to icewind dale to do heroic for my Daily. I NEVER see any people do heroics. is it really that dead?

Chances are, you might be on one of the emptier instances. Since you can't change instances the easy way, it's hard to judge, however, since you are on PC, just press O, go to "find person" or whatever it is, and type in Icewind Pass. That will give you an idea of how many players are there and how many instances are open.

Also - generally people do the demonics for their quest.

To be honest, once I finished the boons for IWD I just go back to the need for mead daily, and the weekly.

Was also doing this - but after i got the yeti i go there when my seals are at the maximum value only to get some salvage.

They really need to figure out how to make Icewind Dale relevant, as in the actual IWD encounters, the same goes for Well of Dragons. They could remove all the content in either zone, and no one would know because all people do in those zones is farm Demonic Encounters. Very rarely will you see a group, usually rather small, taking on the zone specific Heroic Encounters.

My guild goes there when we need pvp shards for the mimic. It's pretty much my non-pvp guild can get the barracks done, cause most of us don't pvp at all. I really suck at pvp.

I got my Lostmauth's Hoard Necklace from saving Sgt. Benton.

Thwarting the Cult actually requires you to hit one of the Cult heroics.

Can't argue with "small group" as it is usually a party that hits them.

People still run around doing demonic encounters and I see people do pvp all the time. But other than that, the area is just frustrating and boring. Overbuffed level 73 enemies, constant lag, bad rewards. I actually only completed that campaign because of Genie's Gifts...

The combination of insane grind and merciless recycling of existing maps is such that players will gravitate towards whatever map currently offers the greatest return (of RP) per hour. Currently IWD isn't it.

tbh yesterday i spend the evening in iwd.
Gf needed black ice on her alt.... most fun time in weeks doing 10+ mans together.(thanks to all the players who stopped by and lend a hand/hammer/spell)

Well, I would not say never. When I go there, there are people do demonic HE. There are people do beholder one. Less people do small HE (as it appears) because many people can just solo it. I had a little trouble to find a small HE to fulfill the quest sometimes because somebody else finished them. Yes, I can find them but it needs a longer ride. There are many daily things to do in NW. These days, the event, the EE boons, Maze engine, CN, SH suck a lot of people out from doing those 'regular' things in IWD. I barely can finish weekly for my 3 toons.

Yup, unfortunately that is precisely it. There's no sensible reason to grind in IWD and end game is all about grind. People used to go there to farm peridots, now they don't.

It doesn't help that none of the end game zones have been properly updated for the current game. Once you finish the campaign (which is purely for the boons) there's nothing to do there.

Icewind Dale is my favorite place to go hang out, for similar reasons.

Most zones are affected in a similar way. You do the content once and you pretty much never go back. With the daily quests sending you all over you now sometimes revisit a zone.

IWD, Sharandar, Well of the Dragons are all in about the same boat too. Difference here is you have campaigns with daily quests you need to do pretty much every day. Once that is done there is little to no reason to revisit.

Now if you go into these zones when the Stronghold Support quests are up in the rotation they are pretty happening zones. For me to knock out the heroic I usually do the quests in both areas first. Second I than do HE for the demons. Usually checking as I am running around for anyone doing a IWD specific HE to jump in and help. I do it this way because I can usually get everything knocked out as I go along. Lastly I jump on the smallest HE I find if my HE daily is not completed already.

Just kinda how I do it and maybe a way to help you along.

The game has been improved alot, but there is no hiding the fact that the lack of end-game dungeons is beginning to hurt. Most people go to IWD and the other zones because they HAVE to, not because they WANT to.
