venuslightheartvenuslightheart Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 50 Arc User
Chinese New Year is coming very soon in less few day from February 7-13, 2016. Since Cryptic parent is Chinese Owned, the developers should provide a very generous Chinese New Year Zen Sale for all players to appreciate celebrating Chinese New Year.

You do not have to provide little red pouches with Zen. Just provide us a 50% or even 40% sale on everything in the Zen market.

It is year of the Monkey!

Well, its Chinese belief and custom that it brings very good fortune to give out red money pouches. Perhaps they will drop a few ADs from mobs in red money packages to bring cryptic themselves good fortune for the coming lunar year?

Cryptic is 100% owned by the Chinese game developer Perfect World Entertainment. With the vast majority of their revenue generated out of China and other Asian countries, how about they put Cryptic up for the Chinese New Year sale?

So far the holidays have been as closely associated with the Forgotten Realms as they can be. I'm trying to think of how Cryptic could do it: Perhaps a new embassy to the Shou Long empire has been opened in Neverwinter? In that case the gifts could be from clerics of the Celestial Emperor and the Nine Immortals. There is even a Monkey spirit running around, although that only works for this year.

Kind of fun to think about. It does seem like we need something in the spring though.

Not true. Perfect World Entertainment, Inc. is an American Company in California and both PWE, Inc. and Cryptic, Inc. are wholly staffed by Americans living in the U.S.A. They both have very little contact with or unfluence from their parent company in China, which is Perfect World Beijing, Inc. Also, PWE is a Game Publisher, not a developer. They own or hire development companies, like Cryptic and Runic, etc.

It does not matter where the staff is. Cryptic is still 100% OWNED by a CHINESE company. Perfect World is not only a game publisher. They developed many games themselves too, most noticeably Perfect World Online and Forsaken World. They also have developed and released many online games in Asia, just that they did not bring them to the West.

Is it really that hard to understand from Zebular's post that PWE and PW are two different companies? PWE is PW's American publisher. Like Zebular said they don't really influence them much. The goal of having an American publisher is to promote their games to an American audience so you won't really see them doing sales for Chinese holidays.

Is is not just for tax purposes only. There are many other reasons including regulations, particularly when Perfect World was still a publicly traded company.

Also, is it that hard to understand whether the company is based in whatever country, the OWNER still CONTROLS the parent and all its subsidiaries? Yes, in case if you still don't understand... your BOSS don't "interfere" with what you do. HE CONTROLS what you do, and what you can't do including whether you are a member of the company or not.
