the rest of it? Neverwinter has had some ups and downs..
but since you will be new.. you will find most of it ok for quite awhile probably.
They really kinda of scaled back on end game group content by a factor of 10.. but oh well.. we are still hopeful.
I would recommend buying VIP status, it helps with costing and making AD to progress.
First of all my client crash ..gameclient.exe after cryptic...
And second i don't really like the ideea if u don't donate u can't do anything....That dosen't mean im not donating..
The gameplay is really awsome i just saw more videos...but is kinda bad that i can't play it
If u know any solution please tell me
each game has its pros and cons, but pvp isn't really a pro in NW. I hope you can get the launcher to work btw.
Former terra player guildie's first sentences: they are talking!
NW is not P2W really.. it is more P2Accelerate. There is very little in the Zen store that you really need to build a character, and most of that is available on the Auction House anyways. You can however speed up your progress significantly by buying Zen.
I think an account-wide fast mount and character slots are the only thing you sort of NEED Zen for.
Because of the ZAX - Zen to Ad Exchange, everyone can get hold of Zen even if hey do not buy Zen for real money. And similarily you can exchange Zen for AD if AD is what you need.
The big thing in NW for me is the combat system, which is excellent.
Game do have some annoying flaws at the moment, but we are hopeful they will be fixed eventually: Class balance is bad, some gear is massively overpowered(Lostmauth set..), many dungeons were removed when they increased level cap and are sorely missed.
As for class choice, it really comes down to personal preference and how you want to play. If you want to play the most overpowered class currently, play a GWF. But be warned the GWF likely got some massive nerfs coming for it when Cryptic get around to do a class balance pass.
Play what you think that you'll enjoy. This of course is not true. You can but the progression is slower.
- Combat system is fun and a bit action-oriented, probably the best part of the game
- Very nice visuals if you can set the graphic options high enough
- Some dungeons are fun to play and more will come/ return soon
- Avoid PvP at the start cause while it has the potential to be fun, it requires a lot of expeience, knowledge of classes and gear to avoid being just stomped
- I play multiple classes, actively. Been playing Great Weapon Fighter as a main since more than 2 years, played also CW, and playing actively lvl 70 Hunter Ranger, Scourge Warlock, Devoted Cleric and Trickster Rogue. They are all fun and each class is different from the others. Right now it's very easy to gear up a bit multiple toons. Enough= to the point you can run the PvE content with no real problems (2l5k iLvL). Playing multiple classes is refreshing since the PvE content is a bit limited right now, so the best option is to play it with multiple classes and have always something to upgrade.
- Sadly, the game is always under some re-balance. Basically because the devs are not really good at balancing stuff here, and the feedback from many players is misleading and uninformed, leading them to some very bad decisions. Basically, we've passed through cycles of some classes being overpowered, then overnerfed, and so on. So playing multiple classes you can "alleviate" the issue (if one class is overnerfed, you can focus a bit more on another until they fix what they destroyed).
Skip hatred posts like some of the ones you read above, when you're starting playing the game.
Which kind of player are you? What do you like the most (role, game style, exc...)
Last: find a good guild of good people and online friends to play with. Saves you the trouble of dealing with the many, many players with a very, very bad attitude that populate the game. There's a section here on forums where guilds post to recruit. Take a look there ^_^
1st rule in joinging a mmorpg: Never join an almost 3 years old mmorpg
Why ? Because you will never catch up people playing this game since 3 years.
BTW, as someone says, the combat system is very great, and i didn't find another combat system as fun as this one.
You will probably enjoy leveling 1-60, but after you will find the 60-70 endless and the endgame boring because you will run after stuff and enchants.
If you consider spending some money, just wait to get lvl 70 to do so, you will probably have join a guild and understand what the game is about.
@ tassedethe:
I disagree, at least talking about current NW situation.
I'll cut it short: prices are really low now on most stuff. You can easily progress fast through campaigns and earn enough ADs with dailies (36k a day) + salvageable stuff, to basically have all basic armor and enchants in about 1 month. And boons.
Saving ADs and converting them in zen after, in about 12-13 days you can buy VIP, which will give you access to easy lockbox keys, giving you a chance to big prizes. Even if you don't get them, you can profit from items you sell from lockboxes and keep renewing VIP. Big help.
Rank 7's are ultra-cheap. You can have it soon enough. Reaching level 70 doesn't take much time, expecially if you join a guild and add the SH quests to your list.
You can reasonably be lvl 70 and 3k iLvL in a couple of months. If you join an active guild with decent rank you have access to all the gear, at least of PvE.
Creating a couple of leadership alts helps too.
Mulhorand weapon sets are ultra cheap and the attack power is the same as a purple level of the new sets (3 points under the elemental set), with good enough stats.
I think it's not that hard to get reasonably geared and ready for PvE. Reaching 2.5k+ iLvL is quite easy. You can look for builds on forums to have good performances even as a beginner.
Obviously if you talk about 4k+ BiS players then no, reaching them is not the task for a free to play beginner. But a decent 2.7-2.8k iLvL is reasonably obtained now, with normal effort, in a couple of months or so. Or even less, depending on how much you play, and with who.
To get ready for PvP, instead...well, that's where i might say it's VERY hard for a new player to catch up.
pros: story is good, dungeons are easy queu as of of the moment (not on maxed yet)
cons: skills are like 6 keys? i miss my 12 keys skills already. and my spacebar noobing.
nah... just come and enjoy the game. have already jumped from 6 games and this is one of the most exciting ones so far. you got no companion in tera.. here you got one. lel.
important: no pvp server here missing MT pk's already, but like said above this game is unique from tera it is quite unfair not to give this lovely worked on game a chance.
The drowcraft stuff is easy to get just dong HEs.
Rank 7 enchants are selling for 3k on the AH.
Coal wards dropped to 115 from 500k.
In a month or two, you can be running successfully in almost all content in this game.
You won't catch up with the whales, but you probably won't be kicked doing Kessel in 2.5k GS
IMO, it's never been easier to start this game and jump right in with a respectable GS.
EDIT: I love the combat system of this game. The best thing about it.
i stopped when starfall is out. but played since then. just not happy with it for a time being. maining slayer, and i have to say you have a great weapon fighter here with somewhat similar skills.
to those trying to see what this game brings, it is quite fun actually. it is unique than tera.
important: dont just click on your "feats" and "powers" haha, research before you do.
what this guy says is from a hardcore player perspective and not possible for casual (no money) players...
@deathbeez
By reading both of your posts, maybe i didn't explain enough my point of view. The following is my personal view about a new player, which may be biased because I'm not a new player since almost 3 years.
Let's take a player who plays 2Hours a day for example.
With no money and no knowledge in the game, I estimate the amount of time getting lvl 60 to 30hours ( learning mechanics, class, etc ). Getting lvl 60 to 70 is another 30 hours, which lead us to 60hours reaching lvl 70 with artefact weapon and offhand lvl 70.
Ok so in 1 month you are max level, now you can go for stuff like dungeon or campaign.
Let's say you have earned 150K AD by making 1 dungeon or 1 skirmish each day of your leveling, and you still play 2 hours a day. You may be able to do Sharandar et Dread ring, have difficulties doing Icewindale ( i don't even remember if you can with a fresh lvl 70 ) and Tyranny of dragon, and surely skip Underdark campaign.
The best way to invest your AD is by buying a weapon enchant.
In another 1 month, you will probably have finish Dread Ring, half of Sharandar and reach an ilvl between 2K3-2K5. This is the progress after 2 month a new player should be able to reach.
I know that there is some stuff making leveling easy like mulhorand weapons, xvim etc, and enchants are cheaper than ever but we are speaking about a player starting from 0, in knowledge of the game and stuff.
A good thing should be a new player posting how much time did it take to him reaching lvl 70, and his equipement.
PS: @deathbeez Thanks for liking reading my post, it feels good to be read and criticized
A guild with no level requirements can join you and help you.
Forums contain useful information + builds, OR you can create a thread asking for advice.
Can ask for advice in Zone chat and sometimes players answer you and help. I even gave some stuff to players asking for help, together with the advices on how to do the leveling and gather equipment. You read stuff like "new player looking for *class* player for advice". Some players will help you (not all).
It's a MMORPG, if you do not interact with other players, you might as well play a single player game...
Lucky enough, NW community more or less helps players in PvE, so you have the option to start with the needed help from other players.
if you consider play archer through campaigns solo, consider it hardcore mode (should be refreshing of sort), you will die a lot. cant recommend it as first toon. you should have two toons after a while, one main for regular playing and second can be even underleveled use for salvaging items you get at group content or heroic encounters. just make your AD income as big as you can
first big investment - lesser soulforged enchantment
