Does Oppressive Darkness Proc on DoT from Smoke Bomb? Just curious.
No, it does not. Easy to test with infiltrator's action. No OD procs from smoke bomb (even when used from stealth, or when stealthing after bombing) during the CA period.
And the OD damage is confused by the inconsistent use of the phrase "weapon damage" in descriptions. For things like OD, this damage is obtained from looking at the damage ranges on your weapons and adding them together, with no other modifiers. For two ilvl 135 artifact weapons, that's 738-902 damage each. Add them together, take 10%, you get an average of 164. Which is the average damage you'll see from a single rank of OD. On the other hand, for things like the Lostmauth's set bonus, it includes other bonuses (str, power, etc.)--this can easily exceed 20 times what you get from (rank 1) OD.
OD, if anything, is more of a PvP passive, to get damage damage in on those with very high DR and tenacity, though it's still not used that often because there are very good alternatives.
Saboteur Link: nwcalc-traits Most people makes the mistake to use gloaming cut, but your primary at-will should be Duelist Flurry. Stealth in this spec is considered as ressource that want to be depleted which means you go stealth and then flurry the target, which gurantees that all 5 hits are critical hits and get a lot of bonus damage. As Dailies you can use Lurkers Assault for more single target damage, to attack groups you use whirlwind of blades. You at wills are Impossible to Catch, Smoke Bomb and Dazing Strike. A Combo to use this skills is you go in stealth and use in a group of monsters whirlwind of blades, then launch smoke bomb and then dazing strike the group. That is a huge amount of damage dealt to this monster group. Smoke Bomb and Dazing Strike are also the choice abilities to reload your stealth with the Saboteur-Capstone. If you fight against a solo boss you can switch smoking bomb for shadow strike to get your stealth bar faster reloaded. AND always remember stealth wants to be used up with this build!
I'm trying this out now, but it seems to have a rather significant problem: the smoke bomb daze isn't instantaneous, and in the window between using it and the daze proccing you can be hit. Which will deplete your stealth bar below 100%--and, moreover, you will never see it at 100% when it does this, as you just go from 0 to about 95% full--and put you on the several second delay before it can recharge again. This heavily works against the desire to be low on stealth consistently, as the only thing you can do to deplete it is proc a daily (which you can't if you preceded this with one) to max out your stealth, or to wait several seconds and go unhit the entire time to get your stealth maxed out again. And this problem is, of course, ubiquitous during a combat for anyone without the executioner capstone. This seems to result in a massive DPS hit, as you are pretty heavily reliant on doing flurries while stealthed to get heavy bleed damage and Shadowy Opportunity procs.
There also seems to be an issue where Impossible to Catch will not trigger the stealth replenishment of the capstone, but does clear the effect. So in long fights, where you are rather likely to need to use an ItC to protect yourself, you can find yourself without a way to deplete your stealth (because you can't get it to replenish to the point where you can do that). Honestly it seems like the most reliable way to maintain stealth depletion is to simply get hit a bunch. Which runs counter to a TR's desire to not be dead. And when you get hit the damage and depletion can simply get neutered by deflection.
Just came back to thank you all for your responses. Since last time i was here i tried a bunch os builds, and i settled with wk scoundrel with dread enchant, cruel on off and vicious on def. I suck in pve but at least now i can have fun in pvp....one day ill have burning set.
