I get a friendship request from Goldsellers every 10 minutes. I always hit Spam but it seems they don't get banned.
Every 10 minutes it's disturbing. :#
Anyone experiencing the same? I wont like to put myself in a glass environment for dealing with them. :s

    Press O,
    Preferences,
set to "visible to friends only",
    in PE at least.

That should give you some peace.

Remember, a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet....

Back to our main concern, you're not alone, many people in my guild complains about it too.
I personally have 2 requests a week, not every 10 minutes like you, but my ignore list is sooooooooo full...

I was sent a request every time I enter a DD run. Not just occasionally... every time I enter dungeon I get a friend request followed by spam. I will not make myself invisible because I am part of a recruiting team as well as the organizer of a public PvP channel. I accept that and deal with it.

I get at least 2 gold sellers asking to be my friend and sending me private tells every time i run temple of spiders. i swear there's a toon hiding behind the wall and does it when i walk close by because it always happens near the end of the run.

Same thing happens to me in ToS too.
    Friend request, then spam.

I started getting this last night myself. First was in Well of Dragons... got a friend request AND a PM at the same time form a spammer... second was doing a ToS run... most annoying.

I got a friend request even though my visibility was set that way. Does that work if they actually see you, rather than looking for you through the Social window?

No idea, but since i changed my settings, i rarely get such invites, mails or even whispers from goldsellers.
So may be they tab through players in their range too, while they work through /who...

I seem to only get these requests when talking in zone or other chat. I've been clicking later and then blocking them. But yes, it does need to be addressed.

Somehow it has been weeks, maybe months I got ingame spam mail or /tells. Also have I never seen the trick of a friend invite followed with a /tell spam. That last one must be insanely annoying when fighting.

But I have an idea that would help a lot to fight the normal spam in channels like /zone, /lfg, ect. Why isn't there a code implemented that:
    1. Removes all the previous messages from 'persons' you ignored or reported as spam.
    2. That this happens to everyone who can see that spam when X people click on "Report Spam"?

Such a code is easy to implement, and would be effective when people realize it actually helps removing the annoying spam when they report it.

I forwarded this along a week or so ago.

Doesn't make sense why they are doing it. As I had said in the other thread such behavior would encourage me to not buy from them but gold sellers have never been overly bright.

I don't know how much can be done but I'll let the powers that be know it seems to be a growing problem. For now you can follow the steps @regenerde supplied but hopefully the developers can look into alternatives. No matter what, though, that will take time so please remain patient.

Another idea, perhaps the Devs could use the existing profanity filter in game as base for an editable spamfilter, that the players can fill with keywords on their own.
Messages that trigger the spam filter could then be redirected into another chat channel, and the players could look over the filtered messages later, to check if everything is working.

You and I would also never respond to an email with the subject line Che@p V!@gra either. Fact is, some people do. Some people are also responding to this new tactic. Remember, lots of people that used to earn AD via Leadership no longer do. Those are the new customers of the gold sellers.

I don't know how much can be done but I'll let the powers that be know it seems to be a growing problem.

Every dollar spent on a gold seller is at least some fraction of a dollar that would have gone to PWE if only there were no gold sellers.

All it takes is a) Raise the bar for when friend invites can be sent (so I can't roll up a brand-new toon and send friend invites from the training area), and b) Dedicate a few GMs to permanently banning gold seller accounts.

It's really not at all hard to do, not expensive to implement, and most likely improves PWE's bottom line.

Something I noticed early on is that it seems spammers watch the Social screen, the "Find Person" tab. Setting oneself to not be Visible to All has prevented almost all spam requests being sent to me. It is only when I am on a character set to Visible to All that I start getting not only spam tells but wild friend requests also.
