What's the new gs?

This may be a dumb question idk. So is gs like completely irrelevant now? Like what is the new gs is that item level because I'm just so confused.

Item Level was originally a hidden developer only statistic. It was more reliable than Gear Score but not available for users to see. The developers decided to further develop Item Level and have it replace Gear Score completely with Module 6. Gear Score is no more.
