Mod 6 question for you guys in the pc world

bleedinblue755bleedinblue755 Member Posts: 177 Arc User
Hello and thank you in advance for any replies you give on advice. We fortunate few xb1 players are getting alot of expansions in about a month, and there are alot of theories being thrown around in the forums. My question to you guys is, and if it has been asked already I apologize, what major changes are we in store for and what helpful advice would you give to us to help us be better prepared. I've read that alot of players left the game due to mod 6.... I've heard about the new artifact equipment and how our old stuff will be obsolete. I've also heard that we really need to get some high level azure enchantments to help with the grind of getting to lvl 70. I've also heard that there is a mission that you will need to have 2 lvl 60 characters speak to an npc before you can get the artifact from it. Is all of this true. I currently have 7 lvl 60's and some other low level characters for diamonds. I've heard it is almost impossible to continue to play w that many characters on a regular basis due to the very hard grind. I run a guild with about 70 members and I would like to share your advice with them so we can prepare for it now instead of being cult bait. Again thank you for your time and input

Everything you said is pretty much true bleed. the details surrounding the 2 lvl 60's....both lvl 60's need to have unlocked Icewind Dale (talk to the NPC outside the market, go to Icewind Dale, turn quest in. ur done). to the left of the fire in the inn, there's an NPC. talk to him, one of his options will open up the heroic instance you refer to. if both your 60's dont' have ID unlocked, he will simply tell you to do this, then it's available. He'll send you to the king, and the king will give you a quest. the reward is a class oriented Epic. the nice thing about the epic is all of your toons can get it once it's unlocked....just pick it up at the rewards claim agent.

It's not listed as a group instance, and much like many heroic instances scales you to 70. but the scaling job is horrible, and I highly recommend a group of 2-3 or more if your in your early 60's...it takes lvl 70 and somewhat decent lvl 70 gear to solo the run.

Other then that, I support what the above posters said. your gear will be outdated pretty quickly. level up your enchantments while you can and the market is still cheap. and the grind from 60-70 is pretty bad...I highly recommend not just the XP enchantments, but take advantage of bonus XP where you can (log on in town so you can get rested, etc.)

If you guys get strongholds at around the same time, this is probably a benefit to you, as the guild can unlock XP boosts to help you in this grind as well.

Is it true that the new artifact off hand is available right at launch? And is it 15 favors to buy it?

You cannot use the artifact off-hand until level 70, and you get it for free as a gift (from Neverember) when you reach level 70, so buying one with favors is a waste.

You can get several of the new greater artifact cloaks with favors, if you want. Also usable at 70, but may be more cost-effective than hoping for a drop or buying with AD. That's something where you need to decide for yourself.

That task on PC allows making the Elemental Fire artifact weapon instead of a Golden Dragon box. I believe you choose which to take on completion. Some players prefer this option because they find the quest chain to obtain it tedious.

The resources are worth a lot less than they used to be.

Got another question for you.... Thanks for taking the time to answer btw. Is there any other reason to keep dragon bones, gems. And dragon forged steel? Other than the artifact weapon in the campaign which will be worthless after the drop?

Yes. You can get your level 70 weapon in one of 2 places. Mod 6 changes the ToD campaign to drop your choice of the level 60 or new level 70 weapon. You can also get the level 70 weapon from completing Spinward Rise. So keep one dragon bone and gem for each character you play if you want to get the new weapon immediately to start refining it, even though you cannot use it until you reach 70.

Thanks guys for your advice. We aren't getting strongholds yet, I've read was coming in November I believe. We are suppose to be getting mods 1,2,3 and 6 all at once. We literally just got tiamat, barely got our feet wet with it and it's already getting replaced. It is what it is.... I'll get my guys and gals working on things starting tomorrow morning. Is it true that the new artifact off hand is available right at launch? And is it 15 favors to buy it? My guild is very active so we should be able to handle 2-3 man teams running for the leveling.

Thank you very much for the info. Is there any other point to favors other than the boons? Not that farming 80 boons is isn't a feat in itself., but are any more required after that

It depends on pacing. If it'll be a while before you get the level cap increase then I'd say it's still worth getting the lvvel 60 artifact weapon. Just don't bother refining it beyond purple or maybe only blue.

The other thing to hoard would be the greater marks of union|power|stability from the Dread ring 3-4-a-weeklies. They stop being guaranteed drops in mod 6.

As for needing Azure Enchantments, I'm not sure how they do the XBox updates. When mod 6 first dropped you would hit 70 without them no problem if you actually did all the vigilance quests. They have since changed XP requirements and I'm not sure this is so true anymore. (But I haven't taken a character through Elemental Evil since then.)

I would also disagree with pushing artifacts to legendary ASAP. In mod 6 Rank 5s drop with some regularity and that makes it a lot easier to refine your artifacts.

We don't have dread ring yet we only have mod 4 and 5 we are getting mod 1,2,3&6 all at once. I am hoping they will explain to us in a little more detail how they plan to do all these drops at once and what updates from the current pc version will apply. As of right now we don't know anything other than we are getting all 4 of them at once.

Thank you for the advice thou. It sounds like we just need to farm enchantments and stones like no tomorrow

Even though the offhand is free at level 70, I think you will still want 15 favors on hand to purchase the Greater cloak from the vendor. Of course, others have said that if you save your Heroic Encounter rewards and open them after mod 6 drops, that they will include the mod 6 rewards, like Greater Belts, Cloaks and higher value enchantments. So I'm saving mine since I completed ToD and all the boons a while back.
