For many of us kids who grew up in a decade before PCs became ubiquitous and long before it was cool to be a geek, Gary's creation meant Friday nights spent playing games with your friends, instead of finding creative ways to break the law.
For so many years (I started playing in 1976) we were busy rolling 20-sided dice and doing battle with Orcs and other evil beasts.
I hope that all the folks over at Hasbro, WotC, PW/Cryptic, and every gamer who's ever played D&D takes the time to acknowledge the man who dared us to go on amazing adventures, brave evils, battle dragons, delve into dungeons, travel the planes, and most importantly: to turn strangers into friends.
So many people owe their PC gaming and roll playing enjoyment to this man. Thanks Gary. You are missed.

This is a medium of thinking, and creative solutions Gary Gygax and his buddies published for which I will forever think he is awesome. It's been a good part of my life.
