First overload level since the new XP scale was introduced

darwinsradiodarwinsradio Member Posts: 61 Arc User
Just got my first overload level on my secondary Character.

I got a whole Flawless sapphire.

Quadruple the xp to get from one overload level to the next, not to mention the bottomless pit of xp you need to get from level 60 to 70.

I think the result here is the exact opposite what the developers intended. If they were going to do this they should have done it for levels 1 - 70. They should have probably also accompanied it with a server wipe and forced everyone to start over at level 1. THe way this has been done gives players who have been around longer a stupid advantage as they never had to level through these stupidly high XP gates to reach level 70.

I don't find the new XP scale to be more rewarding when I get my overload treasure box, at this point I just feel disappointed and wonder what was the point anyway...

It was purely pointless they just tried to pigeonhole players into doing the stupid and mind numbing vigilance quests who most players that did it one time im sure never wanted to do it again. I opted for leveling my toons via Leadership and Invoking. Now it is about a week per level after 60... but most of that was made during 2x event.

As for overload players don't all do quests some of us like to grind dungeons and skrimishes. My last 2 characters to Overload got 30k AD and a blue sapphire but no Power points.... more work, less reward = fail.

All I see added to this game is More work, less reward.
What is the point if you don't hook the player with something nice?

yeah im switching back to my lesser geared hr from last mod because he has much more power points than my cw. its a insane grind i dont even wanna level my gwf to 70 anymore because of this. hopefully skyforge will be all i hope it is so i can switch to it.

Ya, I just got an overflow XP reward of a couple rank 5 enchants... where is the "more rewarding" part that they were talking about again? I must have missed something...

The rank 5s are still better than the xp books and companion books. That is what I got on the last one I got.
  • suicidalgodotsuicidalgodot Member Posts: 2,465 Arc User
Oh, the books can be nice if you stack'n'store them...

...my Pally started playing in Neverdeath and as a Lvl 35. But then, I had recieved these books ever so often in times when the extra PP chance came after 250k XP.

My two pallys started at around level 20 each because of the books too. Just saying there are better things to get, and I am storing them in my bank storage for the next new classes, for certain.

I think they didnt receive enough negative feedback after M6 release, so they went full R. That or they're trying to make all new players quit (if there are any) and discourage new players from joining. Players should vote with their wallet and spend less $ when bad changes are enforced.

I am surprised that they did not include a Zen market Coupon.

Well not to nitpick, but it's 2.5 times the XP not quadrupled. However, it was still stupid. It makes me want to play less, not more.

I got 20 companion XP book and 10 XP book without point.

    And they are Account bound

    Lol

Luckily i got more than 90 on three of my toons, but imagine new players

I predict next thing they will do is 5 points token listed in zen shop for 5000 zen

$50, for five power points?? Maybe on a "buy one' get four" sale.... Assuming of course, that such a sale wouldn't be the product of a type-o....

i started with about 50k xp.. and still have about 350k to go.. spending about 3-5 hours a day/night doing all my campaign daily quests..

worthless to do this, and not even be guaranteed a point... change it the frick back the way it was..

Its totally uncool, the amount of exp is just stupid. It takes less exp to reach 60 than it takes to go from 60-70. The overload is a just a slap in the face to the players who are striving to be better in a game that already has a massive deficit for new players. It was a scumbag move and the devs should feel terrible about the decision to do it. I really want to play my alts at 70 but the exp requirement has gone from being a few weeks to months.... MONTHS WHAT THE HELL MAN SERIOUSLY?

First xp reward on main. r5s.... I get more r5s in 10 min of playing.

Second xp reward on an alt. r5s....

It will be at least a month before I see another xp reward.

This is insane. As stated my others above, more work to get less reward.

I feel like I will never see a power point again.

total fail on the xp part, I do understand making it longer to level from 60-70 as you are about level 70 after firely pit however they should of left the level 70 cap mechanic alone. If they must increase 1m xp is much more sensible - maybe not balanced but you had alot of people already 70 - alot at 70 people will be leveling their alts at this time and new players who really won't be part of your mod exploration of past mods until well sometimes in mod 7 and likely be caught up around mod 8/9. Just giving more reasons for people to wait until new games come out and your action system will be common and thus give more people reasons to quit then stay.

of course we all know cryptic does what it wants and doesn't listen to constructive feedback, but be interesting if they change at all anytime soon. Seems like you gotta whine and whine and whine for a change - and even then you don't get what you wanted (the reason to whine doesn't get changed but made worst).

If enough players will come to the forums and whine + pm them they might actually change it, though it may take some time.

if they dont listen than you have to make other ppl aware what they are getting in playing this game

I have a feeling the next thing we see in the zen store will be full power points at some ungodly amount. They already have campaign completion packages, so now that they make you want to smash your head over power points, it's a great way for them to capitalize.

I'm completely appalled by the extra XP needed for overflow. I'm in the same boat as most people on my paladin and many of my alts. I want to catch up and have my skills. If anything, they should at least guarantee a power point along with any bonus RNG goodies.

    This x ONE MILLION.

If the game started with anywhere near quadruple the xp required to level... there would be many more still playing. It would have allowed people to play for Foundry and enjoy the ride to the top, instead up zipping to the top in a few days. Many in the alpha team was requesting this. This was one of my biggest suggestions to make the game more fun for D&D folks, the RPG folks, the Neverwinter Nights folk, and those coming from games where is doesn't take 2-3 days to get to the end game. Really though, it was mostly about creating space to do Foundry and to cut back on the ENDLESS gating which is Neverwinter and many PW/Cryptic games.

I completely agree that the rewards are very underwhelming for the amount of time and work it takes to achieve the overflow reward.

Here's how I would have handled the post-70 leveling:

People are sick of the RNG-based rewards, so make the post-70 ones something you have a say in:

    1. Add a new type of token, (let's cap these at, say, 5 such tokens).

    2. Always gift the player with a power point. In the event that said player has reached the maximum number of power points they could get, give them another token.

    3. Somewhat similar to the Vault of Peity, add a store with the various post-70 items we can already get, plus some new ones - this would be a great opportunity to re-add many of the old armor and weapon, (either updated to level 70, or simply added as no-cost transmutes). You could also easily add some other things that people would like - like companion dye packs, weapon dye packs, etc).

I hit my overflow xp today on my OP and got a black ruby or whatever, it gave 10000 rp. Second time around and no power point. What is the point of being able to level your powers up to rank 4 if you never get any power points to level them up. A good idea that benefits almost no one. I honestly think whoever is making these decisions just doesn't have a clue. And darn sure doesn't play the game.

Have to remember when the Devs play the game like during the mod 5 Tiamat testing they were using 18kGS charaters to play it.
Then they implement a 10kgs entry requirement its this kinda disconnect from the player base. I can bet you a Dev has never had to grind for a overflow level.

I'd take the flawless sapphire over the 6x rank 5 enchants I just got...

Actually, I renewed my WOW subscription. I never thought I'd do that, but NWN now feels so grindy, I just can't stand to level from 60 to 70 anymore.

Well, they want you to buy the xp booster from the Zen shop... again, and again, and again... for a small chance, to progress your character.

Is it just me, or do others also think, that they turned the overflow xp into another lockbox?
Instead of keys, you have to buy xp booster to "open" it...
