yeah, how dare some of us not give a **** about emotes and actually want content instead of being able to do 3 new dances while cybering in a ****ty club filled wth catgirls.
this. emotes doesnt really prove to me the game is worth coming back to. It proves Cryptic still thinks random, useless content and lockboxes is all players need.
Maybe. but at the same time..okay, so what if lockboxces are making them tons of money. So what? Maybe it is making them tons of money. But the game is still essentially a ghost towen in stasis largely populated by people who stay because they have friends or guilds they enjoy being around. Y'now why I play STO and just…
thats what I was saying. I mainly play STO. There, a lockbox is simply part of a far larger update. here, on CO that i used to play back in the day, a lockbox IS the entire update.
right. But as they others pointed out. the difference between STO and CO in that regard is on STO, if I want a fancy Federation timeship for my romulan, alls I have to do is farm up just enough dilithium (questionite) to earn 500 zen, go unlock my currency cap to be on par with subscribers, then go farm the energy credits…
I'd also point out the other large difference is everything worthwhile that drops from STO Lockboxes can be bought from the auction house for a decently reasonable sum, because you're allowed to list lockbox ships on the AH.
the short version is they never bothered to check if NWO had the same negative currency bug STO did. Once it got out to more than a few people. half the server was trying to create AD (NWO questionite) out of thin air in massive quantities.
Not only that, but CoH only hit its stride after CryPtic abandoned BAB, Positron, and half the rest of their devs to NCsoft. Emmert was pretty much a cancer on the game.
Hint: thats probably job hirings for either neverwinter or their next game theyll ignore neverwinter to go create. also, its cute theyre still riding Coh's coattails when CoH only hit its stride after Cryptic sold it.
I think its more a case that they dont care to. Easier to just pretend the game doesnt exist, rake in as much money as they can with minimal effort, and go back to pretending they care about neverwinter.
Good rep? Last I checked, other than the people who dont care about such things, the majority of what NWO is getting so far is being criticized for how blatant and greedy the game is about forcing you to use the cash shop.
