  • I've been having this issue as well. Game won't load when I select my characters, and the one time it did load, it went back to red counter on load screen the moment I tried to change areas and got stuck loading. Being having this issue for like 30+ mins now.
  • Yeah, I was just at the character creator when I got booted. Kept trying to log back in and nothing. Sometimes the game would patch but wouldn't retrieve the character list after the game loaded, then would boot me back out.
  • This is exactly what I've been doing for like a year now. Still doesn't change how I feel about this game in particular or the fact that there's no other online RPG out there that offers the same level of customization that originally made me make this game my home. So I now I can't get that fix here or anywhere else. And…
  • Glad to finally see some communication, disappointed with the answers we got and the ones we didn't (Chat Ban - what are you gonna do with it?). Basically, it was Ask Cryptic as usual--at least, as was usual months ago when we stopped getting them.
  • So...* MOAR Vehicles * MOAR Lockboxes * No plans for Nemesis or ANY improvements to existing content/features * No news on how they plan to address the Chat Bann issue or even a mention of it (guess I should start spamming the NWO forums with warnings to RPers that they should expect to get banned from their preferred…
  • ROFLMAO, Well, I did say they have better map graphics than CO or STO
  • Sorry, I should have said "GW2 and TERA have more appealing character models", which is part of the real issue, rather than better customization per se. That being said, GW2 and TERA have more extensive facial options and facial sliders in particular than NWO. And while GW2 doesn't have body sliders, it makes up for it on…
  • Correction: The NWO environmental team is doing a good job (and to a lesser extend the combat team as well depending on who you ask [I thought it was ok], and maybe the content developers, since the missions are ok). The rest of the game is crap. Worst character customization--both, in terms of appearance and character…
  • 1) What plans do you have to address the Chat Ban issue? I've heard it all before--its embedded deep in the code base that's shared by all your games, etc.--but that only compounds the issue even further. We get Chat Banned in ONE of your games and we get Chat Banned in ALL of them. With NWO's release drawing nearer you'll…
  • This^ was the first thing that crossed my mind when I first read this thread, but with a question mark and a confused smily at the end. Its been so freaking long since I even thought of checking the Super News section I totally missed us getting the first Ask Cryptic in like... how long has it been, half a year?…
  • Pretty much, The problem being that once they get it right they don't know what tha hell to do with it or how to manage it properly.
  • After this game went F2P we used to get almost weekly updates, even if it was mostly cash shop stuff--at least we had costume sets to blow our money on (without having to gamble for the chance to maybe get what we were paying for). The year or so around and after the F2P transition was IMO the busiest development period in…
  • The Elusive Game Master Description: Charged with actual in-game moderation, he is the last of his kind. An enemy of automated moderation systems that seek to take his place and replace proper game masters, the Elusive Game Master aims to handle player disputes and ToS violations, and hand out disciplinary actions when…
  • Frankly, I don't think we disagree on anything except what we mean by the use of the word "direction". Everything you pointed out is exactly what I mean when I say that this game "lacks direction". Technically it has direction (anything that keeps the game moving and changing, however tenuous, can be technically argued to…
  • I actually can agree with this. But I still think that this game suffers from bad direction*, even if it started before Brad, and that its gotten worse. Though, some of that might have been inevitable given the direction the game was already heading before Brad took over. I don't necessarily want to "lynch" him from what I…
  • Technically, there might be direction in the strictest sense of the word, and it may well be what his superiors have in mind for this game (I don't dismiss the possibility that he may very well be a victim of his higherup as much as we are). It might even be possible that they have plans that I (or none of us for that…
  • Agreed* And this is not related to the game's vision or direction? You're free to quote and mark where I specifically made such a claim. I merely claimed that the topic of direction was relevant to dev/player communication for all the reasons I outlined in that post. I didn't, at any point, say that it was the game…
  • You're correct. But its a supposition based on what I have observed about this game's development over the past year or so and the lack of information about this game's direction we've had in more than half a year. Currently we have no clear picture of what they want to do with this game. And what we have gotten in terms…
  • Yet you haven't refuted a single argument to explain exactly why its not "compelling". You've simply declared that the topic is out of the question--because you said so. And you saying so is not a compelling argument to stop. Its merely you asserting your opinions above that of others. And its not about what's written on…
  • Excellent counterargument! If you feel hat discussing Brad's qualifications is not conductive to a constructive discussion just say so. But adamantly declaring that something is not relevant--period--when it is (even if only indirectly), is only going to fuel futher dicussion of the topic.
  • I wouldn't say that its "completely" irrelevant, considering that communication with players about the game's continued development is related to the game's direction (or lack of), which kinda makes the game's director relevant to the discussion, especially considering he'd be one of the people in charge of telling us what…
  • Pretty much, Additionally, being a programmer by itself does not in any way imply proper creative*, management or organizational skills, which is what the job of game director entails. All that being a programmer means is that you know how to code. *not necessarily in terms of art, but concept development, new ideas for…
  • Oh yeah, I didn't mean to imply that DCUO was a failure per se. But more talking on generalities based on the typical argument that CO's failure is based partly on the failure of the superhero genre in general to compete on the same level as fantasy in MMOs. Plus also that I don't think that DCUO was as successful as it…
  • And unfortunately Marvel isn't helping with their "you have the 'advantage' of not having to create your own character" MMO (whoever had that bright idea ). If there was ever a supers MMO destined to fail... CoX 2 would be awesome. Especially if customization is as good as CO.
  • I 100% agree. And part of the reason I 100% agree is because a little detail you don't mention there. Despite any supposed massiveness that fan base the Star Trek IP may possess, every argument they make about why superhero MMOs (not just CO in particular, but MMOs in general) can't compete with fantasy MMOs (only popular…
  • *utters a long string of profanities, flips a table and ends up having a fit of seizures on the floor before standing up nonchalantly like nothing happened and taking a deep calming breath, then blinks and eyes suddenly widen confused* Wait... didn't I already go through all of this yesterday? *looks around…
  • Because CO has no vision or direction (and is also not as profitable as STO). So there is nothing for the devs to discuss with us.
  • We only get to pick three? Hmmm... lets see... 1) Chat Ban System 2) Lockboxes (and locking exclusive content behind them specifically) 3) The complete and utter lack of vision or direction in this game, and the resulting lack of positive* development or growth**. *by which I mean the addition of things people…
  • Players shouldn't have access to moderation tools regardless of how they feel about what any other player is saying, and instituting an automated system to handle moderation was a stupid idea with obvious holes that seriously lacked foresight. Also, paying costumers are entitled to receive the service they payed for or to…
  • OR, you could just use those $15/month (or any amount for that matter) to buy Zen directly and get 1500 instead (or 500 Zen per $5 spent). Much cheaper and greater quantities than subbing if you just want the points. Just sayin' >.>
  • At this point I fully expect to get chat banned next time I login (haven't done it in a while... maybe when I finally get into NWO beta I'll get a nice, Cryptic surprise). Afterall, I "have it coming" since I frequently discuss the chat ban issue when it comes up, so I should "get what I deserve".
  • Exactly, Having gambling as the only alternative is nothing but sleazy money grubbing. Having the alternative to pay up a transparent (preferably reasonable/sane*) price along with the gambling option at least makes it seem like the gambling option gives you the chance to "win" a more expensive item for the low, low price…
  • Balance discussions aside, I would much rather see decent loot (assuming that there's at least some sort of way to get them or equivalent drops through regular game play) in lockboxes than exclusive content you can't get any other way. I posted this at the NWO forums on a discussion on lockboxes, so I figured I'd copy part…
  • Clearly you "had it coming". I have sat whole game sessions and leveled characters halfway to 40 and then some without ever uttering a single word in chat. I've even logged a couple of times a row for days without ever even letting anyone know I was there. Yet somehow I've gone completely unsilenced. Crack a few offensive…
  • Actually I was being sarcastic (sort of). Still kind of a low blow and ironic to imply (even in jest) that someone's a homophobe (a form of prejudice) because you don't approve of how they dress (another form of prejudice).
  • ...And don't wear a short skirt next time! /blaming the victim
  • So... if our characters don't wear tights that means they think anyone that does is gay? >.>
  • @Lucy As some posters have tried to imply... Obviously, you "had it coming", and therefore "got what you deserved". And since I've never been banned, evah, obviously YOU must be the source of the problem. Cuz it obviously couldn't be that players have access to moderation tools. So enjoy your third chat ban in two weeks…
  • Not necessarily (especially considering that its F2P, plus also that people will whine in MMO forums in general so you need first hand knowledge to properly make up your mind on this stuff), but it probably would set off some alarms and affect my decision to spend money on the game and how much I spend in it (until I see…
  • You don't need to know who it was to open a support ticket regardless. They can't really take your word for it even if you did. You would have to provide some evidence, or wait till they can check the game logs to see if they can find anything they can link to abuse. Basically, Report and let them sort it out (and take it…
  • IP addresses can be changed. Additionally some people may play from multiple computers or from internet cafes*, making it hard to pin point their exact location or who exactly is engaging in abuse. Punishment could deter some abusers (assuming they are in fact "abusers" and that they actually know of the possibility of…
  • I suppose you had a point, but as you said, if they game was popular enough to have that many spammers we'd likely have GM's to handle them anyways. And that still doesn't stop a system like this from being potentially abused--specially from a free account (not just non-subscriber, but no money ever paid for), were…
  • My first impulse was to give it a "1" rating, but like many here I felt that they would not be getting anything constructive out of it since they don't let you tell them why you're giving them that score or even pick the game's you'd play or what not. Its just a generic "How likely are you to recommend Perfect World to a…
  • I grudgingly agree, except for the highlighted part. It doesn't serve a purpose because as I pointed out earlier "ignore" already serves the purpose of not having to see chat from the ignored account ever. So automated chat bans are an extraneous function. They're not really necessary to achieve the intended result.
  • Punishing trolls wouldn't solve the issue because trolls aren't the only people placing others on ignore. And having an issue with what someone else says, or simply not feeling like seeing their chat at that moment in time for any number of legitimate reasons, is not reason enough to ban someone from chat--yet that is…
  • Didn't you start a post like this last week, now you're getting chat banned again? Clearly you "must have done something", otherwise people wouldn't be placing you on ignore over and over again. So obviously you "had it coming". Assim que voce recebeu o que voce mereceu! Goze de seu "chat ban"! /trollface
  • The real problem is the system itself, because there is no accurate, sure way to determine whether or not someone is abusing the system. And even if there was, that still doesn't change the fact that someone can inadvertently chat ban someone else for placing them on ignore for perfectly legitimate reasons, or create a…
  • I agree with everything in this post entirely and I have been perhaps in too many arguments the past two weeks about precisely this at the NWO forums (where fans will ardently defend it and often even insult anyone that dares make the claims in the quote above). And I would add that even IF anyone got in without buying…
  • As someone that played NWN1* offline modules and PW/Social, etc. servers extensively, I pledge that I will leech on ya'll's creations that you will generously provide for our community to give them purpose and a reason for being. What?!? I'm just being honest about my laziness when it comes to actual dedicated…
