Funny thing is, Champions Online's "look" will age better than the so-called "better" graphics of current and future MMOs who think graphics will do the heavy lifting in keeping a game alive.
A great nod to one of the pillars of the community that sadly passed on to the next great adventure. An NPC or Sidekick would be nice in the future, too. But this is still a fine salute to Scott Bennie.
CO has enough missions and content at varying levels. The problem isn't that. The problem is THEY'RE MOSTLY NOT REWARDING TO DO. Just look at the rewards for doing the bulk of them: XP and recogs. Why would anyone bother with them when they can just do Alerts? Alerts were an ok idea, but it was (pardon my French)…
That's probably not going to reassure most folks. And it will definitely be quoted by the doomsayers who have been around for over a decade. With that said, I'm not really looking for huge changes. Mergers happen all the time. Hell, EG7 bought a lot of MMOs (DCUO, LoTRO, DDO, Mechwarrior Online, EQ/EQ2, etc.) and things…
Better rewards for MOST EVERYTHING that has lackluster rewards. There are actually a ton of missions and content already in the game and the various maps. It's just there is no incentive for people to do them other than when it suits their fancy. Nobody does actual PVP because there's nothing in the Acclaim store worth the…
The best character creator in any MMO. And the community is way better than most "bigger" MMOs out there. Also, I don't feel like I'm playing a sidekick to the "real" heroes (i.e. DCUO). And I don't feel like I'm missing out a lot when I don't have the bestest gear around (though those are nice to have). I can play for a…
Probably won't affect CO. Magic Legends was another in a growing line of misfires from Cryptic/PW. CO is one of their only stable and consistent income generators. And, yeah, the attention and funding had it been given to CO... just makes you roll your eyes. But they were banking on the Magic: The Gathering brand to carry…
Hopefully, more Asian inspired content after Red Banner Ruin. Like maybe a full Asian Zone with a Cosmic Boss. All of these game assets for Asian themes and very little done with it! Honestly surprised there's no Tokyo Kaiju map given Monster Island exists.
Which is odd, really. For, like, 10-20 bucks they can run a Facebook ad for a couple of days. Hell, I have clients that I do an FB campaign ad for a week for just a little over $100 and gets enough return of investment.
You mean like Neverwinter's Companions? The mechanics are there (since NW and STO use the same code and engine). But that takes hundreds of man-hours to do which Perfect World isn't giving CO the budget to have.
Vehicles already have a disadvantage in combat with its inability to BLOCK (one of the major meta factors in CO combat). I'm all for balancing them, but not making them practically just a glorified Flight replacement (even though most already consider them as such). This is a case of leave it well enough alone as it is. If…
I've been saying it for years. Put rewards in the old missions that are worth getting and people will play them. A lot of folks play solo (hell, in games like Dungeons and Dragons Online and Star Trek Online, it's pretty much 70% of the population). Given that alerts already provide the XP needs, then missions should offer…
The updates to late game gear is most welcome. Hopefully, there will be more such updates and more late game equips and gear (perhaps even, *gasp*, PVP gear?). I think Justice Gear is still fine for hybrid, dual-passive builds. That said, a little tweak to the numbers or an additional bonus for the set would be nice.
The existing hideouts (particularly the Moon/Sci-Fi Bases) could be relatively easily be coded to serve as bases. Just import access to other areas of interest (like portals to Qlipothic or to Monster Island). Access to the SG bank. Put in an XP dump to get exclusive perks, titles, cosmetics, vehicles, emotes. Maybe an…
Well, we finally got the answer to The Midnight Archetype. Looks like a Raven (from Teen Titans) or a Nightmare (from Marvel) type of build: Archetypes New Archetype: The Midnight Stats: Dexterity - Presence - Recovery Level 1: Shadow Bolt Level 1: Shadow Blast Level 6: Shadow Embrace Level 8: Shadow Form Level 11:…
That latter one is probably the case. An update coded "under the hood" that shows up on live in error. With a name like "The Midnight", though, makes you wonder what AT it could be. We've had a lot of Magic ATs from the past couple of years, so probably not it. Would be kind of cool if it's a Night Warrior Brick or…
I'm aware of that. I'm referring to this (image borrowed from another CO player who saw it): It isn't the Void AFAIK, as I saw that the Void is also in the list (right before The Radiant and next to The Grimoire).
If Michael Jackson (or his estate) never sued anyone for the umpteeentetrallion number of parody's and homages to the moonwalk or smooth criminal, doubtful this would fly.
There's also Howard Chaykin's Power and Glory way back with one of the main characters (a Superman pastiche) called Apex. And then of course Squadron Supreme's Ape-X.
Powers that cause Knockback and Staggered. That will help with using Enrage as your Toggle. But yeah, been clamoring since forever to add more Sonic powers (I mean the damage type already exists... even modified versions of existing elemental powers especially from the Force framework would be ok than the scarcity right…
There are additional material options for the lenses that the regular aviators don't have. Stan had several styles over the years for his prescription specs, which is appropriate. Excelsior!
My 2 cents: The premium pack alone is worth the $15 investment. And what you get is permanent compared to the same cost from most subscription MMOs right now for 1 month of access to whatever. CO isn't likely to go away since it's profit margin is higher than what it costs to keep up. That's not saying it won't happen, but…
Strange deity appears to be inspired from Kirby-style gods or cosmics (Can definitely sense some Fourth World and Celestials theme with the head gears).
With the 500Z stipend, you get 5 Freeform character slots (which is 3000Z a pop if you're not LTS) because non-LTS don't automatically get FF for any slot. In a year, that's 60 FF slots. Seems fair when you look at it from a long term perspective and more so for players who're looking into multiple alts.
I'd suggest 50 to 100 point increments every 10 levels. It's not 100% accurate, but should be close enough. Also consider having some sort of "cap" inherent in the game for stats and powers. For instance, 500+ STR in CO still won't let you push buildings down but PNP Hero System, 100 STR can lift 25 Kilotons, throwing…
- Star Trek Online - Just to make sure my Fleet knows I'm around, but it's relaxing just to go around the galaxy for random missions (some user-made, which breaks my heart that CO doesn't have yet STO and Neverwinter does). - Dungeons & Dragons Online - the "open world" is limited, yet it's closer to PNP than Neverwinter…
- Screamer - Sonic/Force AT. Something closer to Banshee or Klaw than "the Rocker". And add more Sonic energy powers while you're at it. - Pugilist - Might/Unarmed Martial Arts AT that can choose to either get faster DPS or get tougher in the tree. Add a new passive that is similar to Way of the Warrior but instead of…
The race is actually amusing as a change of pace. And it's only a couple of minutes for each round, so it doesn't drag too long as with some other games out there. On the other hand, Forum Malvanum arenas take too long, mostly because of the unskippable monologue.
You could do what I do sometimes and have a friend play using your account and instruct him/her on what to and how to farm whenever "Real Life" gets too hectic.
Pretty sure any MMO company has a clause that says "these terms and services are subject to change" or something similar with which they ask us all to read and agree to before even starting the game. Yes, you are free to air your grievances and choose to stay or not, but calling it "extortion" is a tad extreme.
Going full FTP seems to be the policy right now with thriving (or at least surviving) Cryptic MMOs (Neverwinter, STO, etc.). But I'm pleasantly surprised with what the "plebs" will have access to at more than reasonable prices, moving forward. I do, however, understand how LTS feels "lighter" than what it should be.…
Probably more of a flavor thing than anything. It does seem like something Wolverine or the Garou would have would have as a last resort, taking down their enemies with them as they exhaust their ability to heal in the process.
I think it's less that people "don't mind" and more that "I don't really like the change, but all you can do is adapt". It's likely not going to go back to the way it was. So just do with what you can. Perhaps the change was for the best since it was apparently inefficient to the game's resources, so that opens up things…
I can only speak for my own experience, but the Guard/Wardicator options helped make taking two different passives (usually Offensive and Defensive like Way of the Warrior+Invulnerability, for instance) and be able to swap, depending on necessity, while still performing well when switching roles (i.e. Melee to tank, ranged…
