The only reason the Mega Ds are not hitting you if you range them is because they can only hit a certain amount of targets with their AoEs, their AoEs do have a range of around 100. Being farther away just means you are less likely to be hit, as there are closer players to be the AoEs target.

Ran it multiple times, and it's constantly happening. In the middle of the fight, or sometime before one of them are about to die, they just disappear, and no credit is given.
