I don't mind a bit of grind now and again. But I have to be in the mood. Otherwise it's almost as much fun as having teeth removed with a chainsaw, through my rectum. I already have a job. I don't need another. Basically most of the rewards in this game have become "too much trouble, screw it, I don't need it". But hey,…
Exactly. The CoH devs had horror stories of going into code and finding notes like "do not touch this, it will break bases, talk to *Person*" and the note will have a 2003-4 date on it and the person left shortly before game launch. And we've seen similar things here in CO. Systems that have been long broken (some since…
A-freaking-MEN! It would have been an ideal situation. But, since this is the real world, TPTB are diametrically opposed to ideals. As I've said often. CO is NOT CoH. As such, one game is always going to suffer a bit in comparison to another (and this is true from both sides). But CO is a decent enough game in and…
Honestly, I disagree. After Cryptic was out of the picture, there were some fairly major changes to how CoH operated, while CO is still, to this day, mired in the old Cryptic perception of what "fun" is. Maybe not COMPLETELY. Maybe, had CO been CoH2 or a rework of CoH with a more up-to-date engine, yeah, it possibly might…
I'm not saying "stuff" isn't happening. I'm saying that most of it is, in effect, paper shuffling. Not "development". And while I'm glad people are happy with some of the "events". At the end of the day, once the events are over, it's back to the same old status quo.
CO hasn't "run" in years. It's basically been shot in both legs and has been gimping along, accomplishing nothing much while taking in how much money? So pardon me if I'm quite naturally suspicious and distrustful. I'm not one to "rah rah" a group that's delivered next to nothing.
Entitlement? I think you mistake my disdain for Cryptic's general direction, and my desire for this game to be more than it is for entitlement. I don't expect CO to be a *Insert Here* Beater or an *Insert Here* Replacement. But this game has the potential to be so much MORE than it is. To have watched that potential…
To be clear here, this is about more than just "whining over $10". If you don't understand that, I invite you to go back and actually read the thread. This is about a general trend towards increased pricing while offering nothing in return. Great, set XYZ increased in price. I already had it. So what? Well, again, the…
Conditionally, so would I. If it's a mini-zone with 2 contacts and 4 missions, I'd probably leave it. If it were a full zone or two, with a few dozen contacts with full mission arcs.... But who am I kidding? That's NEVER going to happen here.
Vibora Bay (and the greed underlying the debacle it spawned) *DID* kill this game. It's like smoking. A very slow, arbitrary method of suicide. It chased away people who were hot for the game because they were offended by Cryptic charging for the first "expansion" to an unfinished game. When said "expansion" were really…
This is pretty much my feel on the situation too. Bugs continue on unquashed and are running even more rampant than they were at this time last year. All we've really gotten are a bunch of lockboxes shoved at us. And now they're kicking the pricing on costumes that've been around for YEARS, that nobody currently "working"…
When they're brand new, they may (MAY) be a novelty. But, after a while, said novelty wears off. Sometime after that, they become nothing more than an irritant. And, use maliciously and endlessly, a troll. If it helps, you don't have to agree with (or even like) my opinion.
The market seemed flaky when I logged on earlier. I had a few keys in there for sale (logged back on for the first time in a couple months right in the middle of the valentine's key sale, BONUS!), and couldn't see them. Nor did I have any sale notices in e-mail. Hoping the market server didn't eat them or I'm going to be...
Why do you stay with CO? Because there's pretty much NOTHING else out there in the superhero genre. Mind you, I don't CO much either (combination of busy life and irritation at things in-game). But I play intermittently. The LTS is probably the only thing keeping me here. As, if I had to play as a silver, I'd quit in a…
Until you take a dump or a leak the next day. Watching vids of people eating this stuff and flipping out, I was introduced to the term "fire hose" last night and laughed like a loon for 20 minutes. My employees were looking at me like I lost what was left of my mind.
It's about empowering the end user. (Yes, admittedly, something Cryptic/PWE isn't real big on, but still.) But, as riverocean said, Cryptic/PWE has enough problems just keeping the game going day to day. Actually expecting them to do something about this social issue is like finding a penny and then wishing it was a…
Habanero sauce is for sissies. Mere habanero sauce weighs in at about 7,000 Scoville. REAL heroes eat THIS STUFF. http://www.amazon.com/The-Source-Sauce-Million-Scoville/dp/B001BIXJG2 7.1 Million Scoville Just have lots of milk and ice cream handy as it'll turn the inside of your mouth into a gigantic chemical burn.
Maybe I'm a spoiled 1%'er, but I want the following travel power. Just Get Me There There's no improvements to run/jump/fly/etc. You just disappear and reappear at your mission door (or in the dead center of your mission area, or objective). And for 60 seconds after arriving you have an energy (recovery) generation penalty…
Yeah. And it's never going to happen. WoW is a mutant. A sport. A fluke. It happened to hit a certain lucky confluence of events and situations and exploded into the behemoth it now is. All these companies racing along trying to "be the next WoW" are deluded. The market is VASTLY different than it was back in 2004-2005.…
This isn't a universal or "all the time" bug. But it DOES happen an inordinate amount of the time. As does the Key getting stuck running around outside during the first mission after it gets summoned. I've been lucky and have only had ONE Demonflame where the Key got stuck. But, I don't run Demonflame that much.
Emmert wasn't the developer for CoV. Zeb Cook (Lord Recluse #1) was. To be fair, Paragon had it's share of good writing, but it also had some blantant stinkers to its credit as well (Who Will Die: SSA1) was Just Plain Awful.
Going to resurrect a version of something known as The Standard Code Rant. When commenting on a software system, where you've never seen the code, either directly by viewing the code or indirectly by seeing samples used in other projects by the same studio, one should refrain from making statements with regard to a…
Uhm. Have you NEVER read the Champions PnP material? It's cover to cover homage, complete with tongue fused with nuclear fires to one's cheek. Never going to happen. They view the current setup as "superior" to CoH's fixed powersets. As for the rest of your suggestions. Don't worry, they won't be implemented like that…
Honestly, I don't see it happening. Cryptic would rather be a "McMMO". Where they take their base engine and spin out an MMO based on a property through lots of nasty hackery. Then, once they determine it's "done", they don't touch it anymore or turn it over to a "maintenance team" who has just enough rights to fiddle, but…
Basically what I'm saying is, if someone wants to spend a couple of hundred bucks in search of legion gear and building Tier 9 enhancements, LET THEM. I honestly don't see an issue here. Not the way the game's monetization strategy is set up. And someone beasting their way through low level content due to…
I'm not a big Will Ferrell fan (I actually loathe the guy and his comedy), but that right there is one of the most visually awesome supervillain entrances in the history of supervillain entrances.
The thing is, PVP *IS* dead (scatters doornails about for comparison). This situation is a product of the goofy way Cryptic implemented gear and gear enhancements. What's more, they're making money off this sort of thing. Calling for them to nerf or disable things they've SOLD to players in the name of "balance" (of which…
Well, if they're dumb enough to spend all that real money... Think about how much they spent on keys to get the gear. Then think about how much they spent on the enhancers to actually BUILD level 9's (as they're pretty much unavailable elsewhere). I mean it's POSSIBLE they bought level 8's and only upgraded to level 9's.…
Sorry, but the game need MORE PERMANENT CONTENT before we start getting into the "Sexy Engine Update". The newest thing we got was another raid/alert. But there hasn't been any new, permanent missions content in roughly what? TWO-PLUS YEARS? That needs to be addressed WELL before monkeywrenching the graphics system…
The Wiki isn't so big (nor would it be so active) that it'd require a dedicated host. Just about any bulk host could handle it. 1&1 Unlimited Dreamhost Shared Hosting Pretty much anyone on this list. And some of the plans allow you to pay for multiple years of service up front, lowering your price further. It's not that…
Nonono. 49% another lockbox 50% it eats you .99999994% chance it crashes the game and eats both the lockbox and the key, leaving you with nothing .00000006% chance of all Justice Gear (But only on the 5th Tuesday of any month ending with an L between 9AM and 9:01AM local time.)
