Zombies cannot, by definition of team allegiance, attack one another. They are forced to attack, ONLY attack (they cannot attack other npc zombies either) the "living" remaining players. I just looked at the "aiqa incident" over the three or four last pages.. So there were several types of reactions, but let's just pick the extremes.
-Good guy vitalityprime, explains the situation from a pvp point of view, tries to understand, gets the case solved.
-Toddler oobtree, who basically goes "I'll freking ruin your experience if you step in pvp again", in a thread called "Let's get PvP going again !" This kind of top tier 3lite dictator PvPer who will let their fury rain down on whoever is brave enough to oppose an opinion.
You can always flame more, but when all you're flaming over is ashes, you might want to ask yourself if you're really doing the right thing.
Screw it, let's be more direct. The malware kind of person (I could think of a good 20 persons, most of which don't post here) is doing the worst possible thing for PvP. Being toxic, over confident, snarky players, just sitting on their BASH belts and getting mad at everyone and everything ; don't touch this, change that, if Cryptic listened to me then PvP would be sooo much better. No. With that kind of attitude, nothing is going to get better EVER. And trust me if everyone was like that and PvP didn't have some nice members to hang on, it would be even more dead than it is now.
Yes Pvp lacks reward, yes it is imbalanced, yes the queues are breaking but by reading this thread, even less people will think "PvP can be fun anyway, I'll give it a go". What was this thread's purpose again ?

Basically with the release of On Alert, 2 years ago, Cryptic removed rewards from PvP and broke the queue system for 3 of the 5 Hero Games modes which causes people to get kicked constantly. And when I say "purposely" it is because General Crush, a dev, stated his hatred of PvP openly.

They just kinda forgot about it in on alert and released it how it was even though every single thing they added didn't work. For example the malvan stuff or the new PvP stats or even the specs that give CC resist among other things. They didn't however do it on purpose but it doesn't mean that it wasn't a huge cause.
However PvP is not dead I assure you. The fact so many regulars still do PvP for no reward at all other than having a laugh with old friends.

PvP does happen, there are players and there are many, many more part of the PvP comunity who would happily come back and play CO as soon as even the slightest update comes to PvP. In fact some of them come on the forums now and again. I haven't seen foxi in game for months.
How people are on the forums in no way reflect how people are in game. Also I think it is rather unlikely for anyone new or who may want to get into PvP to be reading this thread especially these pages.

See, I didn't know about the system booting folks (cause I walked away from PvP for other reasons) but the part where you no longer needed to PvP for end game stuff, and then folks no longer playing? That I sort of knew, since I didn't have to go and PvP for stuff anymore.
Isn't it possible that other people felt forced to PvP to get said stuff? I mean, couldn't it be argued that once you didn't HAVE to go to Hero Games, most people didn't?
With that, I'd also argue that you didn't lose any dedicated players to begin with. You lost the players that didn't want to be there, but had to be for Acclaim.
So really, you should thank Cryptic for removing the prizes, cause now you only have hard core PvP players.

The thing is, in a game like Champions, PvP is the only place you can actually WIN. It's also the only place you can truly LOSE, and that brings out the worst people. The same people that think CO should solely be about PvP; that the game should be just another fight game.

Actually, an argument is when two people attempt to prove opposite points incorrect. Often rudely (as otherwise would be a discussion)
I'm not arguing anything with you; just asking for verification of your points, which admittedly is a bit time wasting.

A little bit of sportsmanship goes a long way. New people interested in PVP will read this. The personal remarks and name calling is ridiculous, all it does it sabotage the intention of this thread.
Good sportsmanship is not required to PVP, but by gosh does it make the entire experience 100x more appealing.
It is something we ourselves have control over to some extent. That is the one area that the players themselves can improve... and it is the one thing that keeps coming up when this topic is discussed, so please don't ignore it and keep on blaming cryptic for all of your problems.
Look, and name calling aside, getting folks to play PvP would take some serious work, and the bugs are the least of your hurdles.
I don't know if you all know this, but the PvP end of the game has a bad rap for being rude, horrid, troll like players. I know some folks have said that the tone of this thread is half just screwing around, but it's everything an outsider expects from actual PvP in game.
That is made worse by the fact that people are there to win, and get real terrible if they are not winning. They name call, and harass, and rage quit to ruin the game for others.
In general, total suck.
It could be fixed, but it would need to be from a player end, cause the simple fact is that Cryptic doesn't have any reason to care. I don't blame them for not fixing the glitches in Hero Games. Why bother? No one's playing it anyways. No one suddenly will just because they fix the bugs there.
Somehow, player etiquette, and the reputation of Hero Games needs to be fixed. Here's what I'd suggest.
First off, get five like minded people together, and form a Super Group based on playing Hero Games. Even if you don't RP, run it like it's old eighties rasslin' cause you'd be surprised how many folks would go for that.
Make part of being a group member promotion. Each member of the group should be able to get at least one other person to join a month. Give prizes to the people that enroll the most. Within a few months you'll easily have 50+ members. Once it gets too big, have some officers branch off to form a new SG. Now you have direct competition in game.
Set up a code of conduct, and enforce it. No quitting, no b****ing, no...whatever else you find unfair. By this point, your one or two SGs pretty much RUN Hero Games, since there's always a bunch of you on, so you can begin to enforce it against other crap players. (Use SG chat to finger a crap player. Their team no longer helps, and your team targets ONLY THEM. They'll get the point when they see their own team standing on the sidelines)
Make it clear that you are doing this. Invite others to play Hero Games. Just, walk around Ren telling folks that you're all going to play, and that they should join you for a game or two.
Finally, and once you have numbers on your side, contact the Devs. Don't be a b***h about it, but point out in polite terms the bugs you've been finding. Post them on your SG chat, and make sure everyone knows to also contact devs with the same problem once.
IF Cryptic sees that Hero Games is being used, they will maybe move it up. If instead they just listen to a small group b****ing about a part of the game no one uses anyways, well...you've seen the outcome of that.

My suggestion is how you'd get the arena full again. I don't actually expect anyone to really do it. Think of it as armchair advice. It sounds great because I don't actually have to do it, and neither will anyone else.

But.. you got it all wrong. I sometimes queue for all of the HG, even when no one is queued, because it's sad to let this kind of content to rot.. Right.. So I dared to judge the book by its cover on this guy. All I'm saying is, a lot of people don't know him, and a lot of people will look at him, easily a top rank PvPer, like what he pretends to be. Same goes for the near entirety of "top rank PvPers". They all stand around RenCen insuting people's sexuality and doing nothing but brag in Local everytime they get to beat someone (But never forget to say gf! or else it's not sportsman-like). You miss the part where I said I don't play CO PvP ANYMORE. I didn't leave because of the bugs or flaws. I left because of the other players. Between the constant complaining, and the mid game quitting, and all that nonsense, I found the fun drained from it.
And yeah, I haven't been back. I wasn't there for the equipment, I was there for the challenge and the fun. Plenty of people still play, we have a constant community of about 50 people some leave then some join in the PvP mayhem now and again. We still get even UTC SH and KOTH to pop whenever we can and there are constant people in ren cen not in our community who still like to duel each other which is still very much a form of PvP.

Again, nice logic. The keyword here was "I" there are many other's who would still be part of our community if it wasn't for nothing being fixed over the one and a half years I've been back to CO. The biggest things that gave PvP a small burst of life last summer was when the new powers were added. However these new powers only really gave more options for burst damage and unbreakable fix meant that you could now have perma AD's. That's another story but you can't really expect people to stick around on a game to PvP for years straight without having anything new there.
I'm pretty sure most of our community left due to the lack of love for PvP not due to the community, my proof being that there are countless old players who check into CO now and again or onto the forums just to chat to old friends they used to play with and to be disappointed about none of the problems being fixed yet.
Anyway I suppose you didn't read my post above, stop posting please and stop putting in questions at the end of the ******n post to keep up the flame war, it doesn't help debating it just continues pointless rambling.

. Same goes for the near entirety of "top rank PvPers". They all stand around RenCen insuting people's sexuality and doing nothing but brag in Local everytime they get to beat someone (But never forget to say gf! or else it's not sportsman-like). I know it's burried somewhere, but there in fact doesn't seem to be any sportsmanship or friendly air at the top of PvP mountain. So why would anyone want to climb it ?
Thats bull****. I am a PvPer and guess what I am also transgender and all the top teir PvPers are nothing but nice to me. I PvP often and they have never tried to insult me in any way and to be honest they are more accepting than PvE or RP'rs . Roleplayers tend to ERP at being transgender and I find that rather offensive, just go into the club you will find many a demonwolfrobotninja thats "TG" U__U.

Screw it, let's be more direct. The malware kind of person (I could think of a good 20 persons, most of which don't post here) is doing the worst possible thing for PvP. Being toxic, over confident, snarky players, just sitting on their BASH belts and getting mad at everyone and everything ; don't touch this, change that, if Cryptic listened to me then PvP would be sooo much better. No. With that kind of attitude, nothing is going to get better EVER. And trust me if everyone was like that and PvP didn't have some nice members to hang on, it would be even more dead than it is now.

Malware has done so much for this game over the years more than most others and gets no thanks for it. I hear this quite often. Cryptic killed PvP. What I don't ever here is how. Or why.
First, How did Cryptic purposely kill PvP? Did they remove Hero Games? Did they set impossible goals, or nerf powers once you go in? Did they somehow remove one of the 'P's from PvP?
And second; why? I mean, in general, why did the purposely kill PvP?
Those are honest questions, by the way. Personally, considering there is an area set aside for PvP, it would seem a lack of interested players would kill PvP. If there were players, it would be happening.

That's what a part of the PvP community is like.
I just looked at the "aiqa incident" over the three or four last pages.. So there were several types of reactions, but let's just pick the extremes.
-Good guy vitalityprime, explains the situation from a pvp point of view, tries to understand, gets the case solved.
-Toddler oobtree, who basically goes "I'll freking ruin your experience if you step in pvp again", in a thread called "Let's get PvP going again !" This kind of top tier 3lite dictator PvPer who will let their fury rain down on whoever is brave enough to oppose an opinion.
You can always flame more, but when all you're flaming over is ashes, you might want to ask yourself if you're really doing the right thing.

Where people say devs killed PvP isn't particularity true as they didn't really mean for it to happen. They just kinda forgot about it in on alert and released it how it was even though every single thing they added didn't work. For example the malvan stuff or the new PvP stats or even the specs that give CC resist among other things. They didn't however do it on purpose but it doesn't mean that it wasn't a huge cause.
However PvP is not dead I assure you. The fact so many regulars still do PvP for no reward at all other than having a laugh with old friends.
Crush most probably stated his hatred about the way PvP was as there was way too much work to fix it after breaking it so bad, after people complained I think any dev would be annoyed.
Oh also the thing with malware is the way he acts here on the forums doesn't in anyway affect how he is in game with new players.

PvP does happen, there are players and there are many, many more part of the PvP comunity who would happily come back and play CO as soon as even the slightest update comes to PvP. In fact some of them come on the forums now and again. I haven't seen foxi in game for months.
How people are on the forums in no way reflect how people are in game. Also I think it is rather unlikely for anyone new or who may want to get into PvP to be reading this thread especially these pages.
PvP'ers in almost any other MMO are 10x worse than anything we have here. Trust me, when you start getting to competitive / rated levels on other MMO's you'll know what I mean.

The sheer unmitigated irony... I question if you've ever actually qued for hero games at this point. I've seen Malware in hero games, in bash. You know what he does most of the time? Stands there with his TANK BUILD (You know, like your friend?) and just tries to survive while multiple players viciously attack him (You know, like your friend?) and he does this for fun (You know, like your... oh wait, nevermind).

You ever notice how people complain that they can't play their special personal customized theme build that they want to play because "Be the hero you want to be" and their solution nearly every single time seems to be some variation of demanding that the "pros" not be allowed to built exactly the kind of hero they want to build?
^ That right there is the reason these things never work out. It's not because of the big evil pros and their big evil ways... it's because the people on the losing end throw a fit and decide that they would rather see pvp abandoned than have to risk their egos.

See, I didn't know about the system booting folks (cause I walked away from PvP for other reasons) but the part where you no longer needed to PvP for end game stuff, and then folks no longer playing? That I sort of knew, since I didn't have to go and PvP for stuff anymore.
Isn't it possible that other people felt forced to PvP to get said stuff? I mean, couldn't it be argued that once you didn't HAVE to go to Hero Games, most people didn't?
With that, I'd also argue that you didn't lose any dedicated players to begin with. You lost the players that didn't want to be there, but had to be for Acclaim.
So really, you should thank Cryptic for removing the prizes, cause now you only have hard core PvP players.

I hate to say it, cause maybe the community has changed since the last time that I PvPed in CO, but the players here WERE just like what I'm seeing on the forums. They were poison.
That's why I don't bother with it anymore. It was fun when it worked. When no one rage quit because they weren't winning. When no one bitched and whined about nerfed or overpowered powers. When no one took their butthurt out of the arena and spammed your inbox with their crap (yes, that did happen).
You wanna guess how often that happened? (And seriously, I was building characters for PvE; when I beat you, it's 'cause you sucked. Suck it up and quit whining.)
The thing is, in a game like Champions, PvP is the only place you can actually WIN. It's also the only place you can truly LOSE, and that brings out the worst people. The same people that think CO should solely be about PvP; that the game should be just another fight game.

Good sportsmanship is not required to PVP, but by gosh does it make the entire experience 100x more appealing.
It is something we ourselves have control over to some extent. That is the one area that the players themselves can improve... and it is the one thing that keeps coming up when this topic is discussed, so please don't ignore it and keep on blaming cryptic for all of your problems.

I don't know if you all know this, but the PvP end of the game has a bad rap for being rude, horrid, troll like players. I know some folks have said that the tone of this thread is half just screwing around, but it's everything an outsider expects from actual PvP in game.
That is made worse by the fact that people are there to win, and get real terrible if they are not winning. They name call, and harass, and rage quit to ruin the game for others.
In general, total suck.
It could be fixed, but it would need to be from a player end, cause the simple fact is that Cryptic doesn't have any reason to care. I don't blame them for not fixing the glitches in Hero Games. Why bother? No one's playing it anyways. No one suddenly will just because they fix the bugs there.
Somehow, player etiquette, and the reputation of Hero Games needs to be fixed. Here's what I'd suggest.
First off, get five like minded people together, and form a Super Group based on playing Hero Games. Even if you don't RP, run it like it's old eighties rasslin' cause you'd be surprised how many folks would go for that.
Make part of being a group member promotion. Each member of the group should be able to get at least one other person to join a month. Give prizes to the people that enroll the most. Within a few months you'll easily have 50+ members. Once it gets too big, have some officers branch off to form a new SG. Now you have direct competition in game.
Set up a code of conduct, and enforce it. No quitting, no b****ing, no...whatever else you find unfair. By this point, your one or two SGs pretty much RUN Hero Games, since there's always a bunch of you on, so you can begin to enforce it against other crap players. (Use SG chat to finger a crap player. Their team no longer helps, and your team targets ONLY THEM. They'll get the point when they see their own team standing on the sidelines)
Make it clear that you are doing this. Invite others to play Hero Games. Just, walk around Ren telling folks that you're all going to play, and that they should join you for a game or two.
Finally, and once you have numbers on your side, contact the Devs. Don't be a b***h about it, but point out in polite terms the bugs you've been finding. Post them on your SG chat, and make sure everyone knows to also contact devs with the same problem once.
IF Cryptic sees that Hero Games is being used, they will maybe move it up. If instead they just listen to a small group b****ing about a part of the game no one uses anyways, well...you've seen the outcome of that.

You're right, I'm most likely missing the point. I don't PvP in CO anymore, so I haven't seen it recently...
My suggestion is how you'd get the arena full again. I don't actually expect anyone to really do it. Think of it as armchair advice. It sounds great because I don't actually have to do it, and neither will anyone else.

You miss the part where I said I don't play CO PvP ANYMORE. I didn't leave because of the bugs or flaws. I left because of the other players. Between the constant complaining, and the mid game quitting, and all that nonsense, I found the fun drained from it.
And yeah, I haven't been back. I wasn't there for the equipment, I was there for the challenge and the fun. You partially blame the fact that Cryptic took away the Acclaim stuff; I say that if the PvP in CO was fun, people would play it anyways. The fact that the players left when there wasn't something forcing them to be there should show you exactly what the PvP in CO is worth.
AND? I recognized Gingervitos for what he was doing right away, and played along, because I actually enjoy feeding trolls. We both knew the game, and I don't think either of us was mad.
HOWever, once we got past that, he pointed out that he was in PvP just to mess about and ruin other player's days. That's what I expect out of PvPers in CO, and in most games really. I thought it was pretty awesome that he was honest about that. How are you feeling, honest wise?

Plenty of people still play, we have a constant community of about 50 people some leave then some join in the PvP mayhem now and again. We still get even UTC SH and KOTH to pop whenever we can and there are constant people in ren cen not in our community who still like to duel each other which is still very much a form of PvP.

Thats bull****. I am a PvPer and guess what I am also transgender and all the top teir PvPers are nothing but nice to me. I PvP often and they have never tried to insult me in any way and to be honest they are more accepting than PvE or RP'rs . Roleplayers tend to ERP at being transgender and I find that rather offensive, just go into the club you will find many a demonwolfrobotninja thats "TG" U__U.
Also if your talking a certain pink guy with a foam finger usng the term gay then you obviously dont know them then :P
I have to be the most gay person in CO PvP ( foam finger man aside ) and I get along with all the PvP big guns just fine. Gotta love all the norms getting worked up over the word gay. Malware a guy that goes out of his way to stop people that farm newbies. A guy that goes out of his to help new players with their builds. Malware has done so much for this game over the years more than most others and gets no thanks for it. People just tend to call him names because he likes PvP and pretends to be a try hard to mock the real try hards( dumb people dont tend to see the joke though ) . This doesnt reflect badly on Malware it reflects badly on the rest of us.
