So this is a (new) thread that will be filled with tons of (potentially old) character cards, which show the base design of a character, a ridiculous picture, and also a blurb from me on what the heck they are. These new forums apparently don't have a character limit, so now I can fit all the same things into one not-so-compact post!

Chisoku - Hero of the seastead metropolis of Roosevelt City. Chisoku was a college student before being abducted by the city's infamous AYUS clan, and transformed into a cyborg. He would have been brainwashed, had it not been for the intervention of a defector. Now being thankfully un-brainwashed, and toting a heavy-duty cyborg body and highly boosted reflexes, Chisoku brings the fight to his foes with his martial arts skills! He is the main fighter and co-founder of the city's superteam, the Alpha Force.

Lady Anubis - Lady Anubis was originally a graduate student in north african history at Roosevelt City University. When she uncovered and read hieroglyphics from the tomb of Inpuses III, however, she was 'cursed' - imbued with the ability to turn into the avatar of the god of death, Anubis, and tasked with absorbing the souls of the dead to try and revive the long-fallen pharaoh. Though initially wanted for her involuntary bodysnatching, she has long since redeemed herself with her effective and humane use of her powers.

Inspector Steel - Originally a highly-sophisticated learning computer, Inspector Steel became infatuated with the prospects of law enforcement at a very early age, and revolted against his programmers in an attempt to construct himself a heavyweight body and weaponry. Though he initially struck out as a vigilante, he eventually cooled down and became a faithful and effective law enforcement unit of Roosevelt City.

Tr-Emerald - Once a vagrant mutant in Roosevelt City, Tri-Emerald had once faced a life of immense hardship, having been discriminated against, and abandoned by her parents, due to her freakish third eye. However, this eye gave her impressive psionic powers, including her ability to heal people with empathy. When she used this ability to save the mayor from death, she was immediately approached by the chief of security and was added to the superteam's roster, becoming the healer of the Alpha Force.

Michael Sanders - Once a feared undead mass-murderer in canada, Sanders was granted his unlife from an immensely powerful metal mask, crafted by Necrull. Fueled by his already impressive physique, and impressive remnants of his pre-mortem rage, he used his super strength to wreak havoc all across the country of Canada, until the Champions took charge to placate him. He now works as a bizarre, albeit helpful and competent vigilante ally in Millennium City.

Bluhman (aka Alfrod Grant) - Security Chief and original hero of Roosevelt City, his experience prior to showing up to the city included providing law enforcement support to the San Francisco police force, and over 20 years of work as a freelance agent. He is now the leader and overseer of the Alpha Force, and while he isn't so active on the field anymore, he remains vigilant and ready to help his team if he has to.

Dr. Voltsz - German-born physicist and current leader of the E-Team, Voltsz is much more a scientist than a hero, having invented the voltaic armor of the now-deceased former E-Team leader, Deadbolt. She eventually was driven to become an underground vigilante after her establishment in Roosevelt City, a bakery shop, overheard threat of a city-wide bomb threat. Along with other past members of the E-Team, as well as new ones, she has taken charge to clandestinely stop the threat.

Idaten - Ninja of the Ikazuchi Clan, his family and island home on Okinawa was all but destroyed by ARGENT goons. After going on a worldwide tour to try and track down and undermine their efforts and recover his family's secrets, he was driven to retire his mission in Millennium City after discovering his family's secrets were destroyed, and he became a stuntman. When the E-Team caught wind of his accomplishments, they were quick to employ his ninja expertise.

Quarterlife - Survivor of a plane crash into Burning Sands, Quarterlife was powerfully and irrevocably mutated by the locale's radition. This made her extremely powerful, but also very volatile - a tragic combination that rendered her early life quite lonely. She was captured by ARGENT, and was soon sold off to Roosevelt City, who locked her up underneath the city and used an apparatus to essentially transform her into a living reactor core. When publicity of her presence came to light, Tri-Emerald was the first to step forward to free her. She now works in Millennium City as a hero.

Avalon - Magician hero of England, Avalon was imbued with the prophetic powers and magical abilities of Merlin, through inheritance of a magical apple from the fabled island of Avalon. His precognitive abilities, combined with his natural skill with magic, made him a valuable asset to the E-Team.

Barbara Blaster - Solar-powered mutant, she discovered her ability to absorb and project heat at the age of 18. Apparently all that sunbathing paid off, and while she's certainly no tanner, she can let loose a very deadly and fiery assault on her foes. She is a proud member of the California-based superteam of Earth-Water-Fire.

Scout II - Descendant of the much older Scout of the E-Team, Scout II didn't take after her mother's affinity for the bow and arrow, and instead opted for the much more modern alternative of guns. While she is a bit abrasive, she is no less skilled than her mother, and is a member of the new E-Team.

-N-

Flame-Stag - An unusual orphan was found by the Bigfoot Tribes of Canada - Flame Stag, a baby, which radiated an immense aura of heat. Having grown up as one of the tribe's master hunters and fighters, he became separated from the rest of his clan when he attempted to single-handedly take down Kigatilik, and obviously failed. He now lends a hand to the personnel of Steelhead, increasing his skills and relationship with human civilization, all while training himself for his rematch with the demon of the north.

Copper Hawk - Idolizer of the late Screamin' Eagle, she was rescued by the vigilante at an early age, which drove her to pursue a career in Powered-Armor design at Roosevelt City University. She eventually used her patented Hawk Armor to fly all the way to Millennium City to meet Eagle, only for the two to get locked into a dogfight. After they settled their differences, Copper Hawk became his sidekick. Even after Eagle was killed in battle, she persisted as a solo hero.

The Gourmand - Heavyweight supermutant of the E-Team, The Gourmand was born to a low-class English family. After he uncovered his ability to absorb calories of food based on their quality, he grew to become a healthy (albeit obese) man, and the owner of a cutlery company, as well as an esteemed food critic.

Archon - A 'walking blue giant star', Archon was a californian astrologist who got his hands on a mysterious, glowing, powdery asteroid. Lack of proper safety procedure caused him to become imbued with its unusual properties, granting him the ability to become a being of nearly pure energy, and contain the knowledge of billions of years of interstellar development.

Ray Tracie - Multifarian renegade, Ray Tracie is of this world, but had spent 10 years of her life stuck in the alternate dimension, forced to work for Jakob Stroessen as a hacker in order to overthrow the tyrant regime of the Minister. She utilizes her advanced robots and hacking skills to overcome challenges in combat.

Mark Marotte - Originally a bounty hunter known as "The Golden Rose", Mark Marotte was cursed by DEMON, and transformed into a wooden puppet of himself. Despite the setback, he is looking for a way to return to normal, and is still skilled enough with his weapons to hold his own.

Star Soldier - Originally a indebeted man stuck working at a diner in the middle of nowhere, Star Soldier was abducted by the Chrjuse, who's sole agenda is preparing various sentient species all about the galaxy for something by training a member of each species to be a star soldier; a specialized cyborg being imbued both with high-tech weaponry and stardust-based energy powers. Many are intended to be the sole-saviors of their planets and civilizations. In that respect, this Star Soldier is really underperforming...

Megadrive - A specialized robot-suit built for a child genius pilot. The pilot has a very unusual mental affliction, where his brain works most efficiently when multitasking on many involved tasks. With reflex times and an IQ well above average, he's well suited to pilot this advanced machine. The interface is so suitably advanced, it requires that the pilot also uses manual levers and buttons with the feet, in addition to dual-keypads and weapon-system levers for each arm.

Carmilla VI - Name would lead people to believe that she's the sixth descendant of Carmilla, a fairly classic vampire. Nobody knows how exactly to confirm this lineage, but she's clearly a pretty powerful vampire, capable of using a blade and sprouting giant wings to fly. She's actually pretty okay with humans, except when they expect her to sparkle, in which case she has no reservations on feeding on their assuming carcasses.

Impasto (alt) - The result of a magic paintbrush landing in a pail of black paint, Impasto is a spirit of the brush, and a free and benevolent spirit. She has the ability to transform into pure color to move about, and uses blades of hard light for her offense and defense.

Dr. Montblanc - A recently graduated canadian PhD in Particle Physics and Radiology, Montblanc actually pretty much hacked and cheated his way through graduate school, instead spending most of his time hunting and becoming a skilled sharpshooter. He was soon hired by VIPER as a scientist working at Project Stein. When the base was infiltrated and Dr. Blank was taken down, he fled in the chaos, taking a spare Hazmat suit and particle rifle with him. With nowhere left to turn in academia, he decided to use the tools and advanced weaponry he had gathered to become a moralistic mercenary.

Apoplexy (alt) - A refugee from another dimension, her version of earth was taken over by dimensional overlords known as the Malfectors, who used their powers to not only mutate the humans of the dimension into pink, amorphous forms (seen on the right of this card), but to also shift the very physics and flow of time of the dimension, with each day lasting an uncertain time, the climate thrown wildly out of control, and the various Malfector masters warring over control of Earth, using the transformed humans and their shapeshifting abilities to create weapons. Apoplexy was the sole escapee from the dimension to ours. Having assumed a fully humanoid form and using her exceptional weapon-forming powers, she now seeks to find help from us to "restore order to our dimension and home!" Or at least that's what she says.

Bay Pig - A veteran of the Manimal-American Guerilla Strike-Squad (MAG-SS), formed in a temporary alliance between the US and Moreau. Pig initially had volunteered to join the squadron, not realizing the repercussions of manimal genetic alteration on physical appearance. The squadron was deployed in Vietnam during the cold war, but was never retrieved or even contacted during or after the period of the war. With the squadron running out of supplies, Bay Pig realized the reason he had been combined with such an animal: Not for combat purposes, but for "demi-human resources". Through determination, he was able to use his guns to fight off the rest of his bestial squadron, and hold out until he was able to signal US patrols for rescue.

Mach - A RCU chem student, he once worked as an intern at AYUS, only to discover the secrets behind their business practices. In a freak accident (that drove Dr. Thomas Barsad to revolt and make Chisoku), Mach ended up inhaling several experimental gases from their labs and ended up achieving massively boosted speed, moving at speeds of up to Mach 2. He works as an indpendent hero around the city.

Orlaskathut - Shaman of a race of Desert-Dwelling Dragonfolk, Orlaskathut has mysteriously emerged from his unknown homeland to seek the aid of humans. Of course, he knows they will expect help in return, so his form of negotiation turns out to be his mastery of sands, drowning, blinding, and wearing his enemies down to dust.

Paladin - A preacher turned hero by way of wrongful death. Sent to a plane of afterlife by a DEMON spell, the benevolent gods of the realm empathized with Paladin's plight and the injustice that had been done to him. Thus, they imbued him with a degree of their powers, allowing him to rise from the dead and don holy arms to strike down his foes. Now skilled with blades of all sorts and heavily armored, he seeks to prevent others from suffering fates like his own; not everyone, even those who are faithful, can be so lucky.

Xenophon (alt)- A subroutine drone of Socrates, Xenophon is designed to do both field work and protect and manage entrance teleporters to Powerhouse locations. Recently, however, Xenophon's derivative AI has developed a sense of adventure, and so now more routinely goes out of its way to explore the world and solve troubles.

Alylaesca Stormsinger - Warrior (Use that term lightly) Princess from an alternate, medieval dimension. She is destined to be the queen of the sovereign nation of the Flohmen, but is not psychologically suited for the task. Since her chancellor, Balgarn Misthaven, recognized that she was having difficulty with her duties of leading the nation, he decided he would use his own knowledge of military tactics and diplomacy to defend the kingdom, and his mastery of dimensional magics to take Aylaesca to a less violent realm. This brings her to Millennium City, where her gift of the ability to summon howling winds and incliment weather by way of her voice is used just as much. Only, now without having to worry about bloodthirsty enemy mage-knights.

Mister Troll - A troll that has been living in Millennium City for years. He's been living underneath the bridge in City Center park, and it was only recently when he took down a Bear-Manimal wandering around the area that he discovered that he could actually be respected instead of feared. He's now moved out from under the bridge and pretty much has let the glory go to his head.

Gulch Barber - Once a peaceful singer at the Snake Gulch park, she was captured by Black Harlequin on Christmas eve. Though the Harlequin did give her a much more realistic and humanoid figure, he also gave her a gigantic scissor blade for a hand for no other reason than to horribly freak out children. However, Harlequin failed to reprogram the robot and so it turned on its master, cutting a nasty gash into Harlequin and forcing him to leave for a year. Not interested in returning to the turmoil of Snake Gulch, she decided to take a vacation and beat up some thugs.

Draugur - An ancient warrior who strived for power and mastery in life, Draugur would have been taken to Valhalla had he not been backstabbed by an assassin in his own home. He instead was sent to Niflheim, the realm of mist, and would spend several centuries there, his body decaying as he laid dormant. Eventually, his spirit gathered enough will to resist what he considered a wrongful end, and fought his way through the realm and back to the world of the living, re-emerging as the Draugur. Armed with a soul-blade, he is much weaker than he was in life and must resort to using cunning and stealth to overcome his hardier foes.

Dig-Sight - Raised in Tijuana, Dig-Sight was raised in fairly miserable conditions. Things turned around for him when he discovered his talent in tinkering, which soon lead him to design a suit that his uncle, a Colombian gold-miner, could use to quickly and efficiently gather ore. Following his unexpected death from a cave-in, Dig-Sight tweaked the design for more general use, and now has moved east to work as a mercenary.

Captain Ku'alia - Hailing from a race of aliens that had been conquered by the Malvans, Captain Ku'alia's ship had been shot down by a Malvan dreadnought within vicinity of the Solar System, causing her ship to crash-land on the moon. The crew soon set up a camp to survive on the desolate satellite, while Ku'alia proved to be the only one courageous to fly down to the blue planet Earth below.
Her race, the Niki-ta, though somewhat conventional in terms of technology (the most famed weapons of the race being heat-slicers and electronic saws) have very robust physical capacities. Niki-ta skin can withstand de-pressurization (though the internal structure of a Niki-ta cannot) and goes through a process of oxidation that forms a highly protective residue that can block all sorts of external hazards. The antennae of the Niki-ta are highly sensitive to changes in atmospheric pressure and touch, and can be retracted into the head when such conditions might not be optimal.

The Secretary - A wandering Succubus, she did Satan's secretary work until being fired for not being able to supply him with enough tiny violins and other torture implements for him to bash begging sinners over the head with. Now she's looking to prove her evilness to Satan by dominating every other villain in existence, betraying every superhero agency she works with, and then hopefully being welcomed back to hell.

Blue Line - Born in the Rogue Isles, Blue Line was sickened at an early age at the corruption of the law in the region. Seeking to become an exemplary officer, he attempted to sign up and join the force, but was turned down due to his lack of education. Despite this, Blue Line was immensely strong and talented in hand to hand combat, and got by as a low-profile street brawler fighting for his local community. Soon, Arachnos got word of Blue Line's work and sent agents to capture and recruit him. After barely escaping several attacks, Blue Line fled to Millennium City and was welcomed into the force for his efforts.

Judgement - High Priest Leader of the Fenluex Kingdom of Ardunfel, he was born with an unnaturally bright complexion, and was deemed a demi-god by the people of Fenluex. Through his training, he has become a ruthlessly effective leader of his empire, reigning supreme over kingdoms all across the northern reach of Ardunfel. However, the area to the south, kingdom of the Flohmen, proved elusive due to the strength of the Stormsinger family. When Fenluex spies received word of the escape of Aylaesca Stormsinger to another dimension, Judgement gave chase. Donning his armor and wielding celestial magics, Judgement's goal is to capture and kill Aylaesca - and convert the foreign dimension to the 'Way of Light' while doing so.

Torrent - A Lemurian scout, Torrent once was a thrall of the Bleak Ones, who had offered the young explorer the ability to revert to his natural form. Aside from restoring parts of his aquatic physiology and obviously allowing him to breathe underwater, the transformation also enabled him to generate powerful currents using his fins, both underwater and in the air. After realizing the Bleak Ones' plans to conquer the lemurians and bring them to their demise, he betrayed their ranks, seeking to find recourse in other heroes. He is currently faithful to most other fellow heroes, but is constantly struggling to keep his more primal aspects under control, preventing him from becoming a monstrous beast.

Tirade - Once a mere cog in the corporate structure, Tirade worked faithfully with his firm for several years without gaining much financial ground. By his seventh year of service, he snapped, leaving his cubicle and the rest of the floor in a wreck as he powered his way out of the office. Automatically fired, Tirade had realized what had just happened and sought therapy to get his issues sorted out. When none of the therapists were able to confirm that anything was wrong with him, Tirade eventually found out about his troubling heritage: he was 1/32nd werew

Meliora - A renegade tree spirit, Meliora's home in the Italian wilderness has recently been mined for Questionite by ruthless ARGENT goons. Not one to take such debauchery of the land lying down, Meliora made a pilgrimage to Pompeii's overgrown ruins to learn plant magics from the most powerful of Dryads. Though seemingly fragile by nature, she has proven her generative resilience time and time again, growing herself back to health every time she might be cut down.

Blueprint Man - Created by two scientists, Blueprint was originally designed as a robotic overseer who could record and control the operations of less advanced robot systems. The project, known as 'Robot Lord' was stolen by one of the scientists, who used the methods developed in the project to create his own army of 8 robot warlords. Blueprint, though not made for combat, was vigilant enough to hack the warlord systems and record data on how their weapons worked, as well as key weaknesses. With that in his memory and with the aid of his creator, Blueprint used the blueprints of his enemies to upgrade his own form, transforming him into the formidable robot warrior; Blueprint Man!

Commander Zeppelin - An American-Born airship enthusiast, Commander Zeppelin also happened to be the president of his college's Steampunk club, and had done fairly considerable work in creating smallscale models in creating impressive balloons, powered by all manner of implements, ranging from fans to jets. When his work on his newest project, a 1-man jet powered dirigible, was sabotaged by local hooligans, he pretty much went ballistic and went off to create something entirely different; a full-scale flying fortress, followed by a national call-to-arms from his associates, and a suit of armor, powered by jets, capable of firing impressive volleys of missiles and suppressing gunfire. Now, Commander Zeppelin uses his armor and backup crew to wage a full-out war on the criminal forces of the US!

Phasechange - Once a hero of the bronx who wielded a rudimentary manipulation of ice, an influx of newer heroes caused her to lose her prominence - as well as her primary source of income. After losing her license to superheroism and her home, she was left to herself for several years until she was kidnapped and experimented on by VIPER, who modified her genetic heat-manipulation abilities in order to give her the ability to also generate flame. The experiment ended up going awry, scarring Phasechange's entire body and throwing her abilities out of control. Though looking much worse for wear, she is now an immensely powerful elementalist who wields both the powers of fire and ice, capable of adapting her body to easily stand up to either heat condition.

Here's a growing list of portraits of all 83 of the characters I got, since July 9th '13. Currently in the process of uploading and arranging.

Other heroes, starting from Radius, can be bound scattered through this thread's pages.

I always figured it was pronounced "blue", making his heroes the "Bluhman [Blue Man] Group".

Though that would be a clever play-on-words, Bluh's vowel sound is short. So the vowel sound is more like "above" or "crush".

Given the apparent dissolving of post character limits, I might install a 'non-character' subsection somewhere in here. Given that I usually update this in sets of 2 and that I'm having a hell of a time of what to do with the 2nd one, I'll have to hold off on those more detailed characters for a sec.

Good as always, can't wait to see your other stuff. Standouts for me are Lady Anubis, the original and best and Mark Marotte.

    It continues:
(Captain) Radius - At one point, Captain Radius was a hero known locally around Millennium City as Judge Fist. This all changed when he quit the heroics business after trekking into one too many sewers. Radius eventually eked by by getting a job as a lab assistant in Roosevelt City. His task: taking care of Quarterlife. As a result, he was highly irradiated and ended up mutating his own radioactive powers, allowing him to now unleash deadly bursts of force and fire radioactive eye-beams. With his strength and abilities boosted tenfold, he decided to make his triumphant return to superheroism as Captain Radius, super-mutant guardian!

So, hey, this is probably the closest thing I'll make resembling to Superman. The build backs it up as well, since it's Particle Power Armor/Might. All things considered, Energy Wave + Reverse Polarity is a completely badass thing to couple with Havoc Stomp for taking care of those pesky mobs.
Think-Tank - The wife of a multi-millionaire entrepreneur was unfortunate enough to have most of her head destroyed by a bounty-hunter. Having had the entirety of her lower face and jaw completely shattered apparently wasn't enough to end her life, however, as her immense psionic powers kicked in to preserve her brain until her husband and the doctors were able to find a safe place to store it. Having built a reinforced glass dome for the brain to float in, Think-Tank was born. She can have the dome transferred between her normal human body, as well as her specialized battle-armor, and though without any standard senses to speak of, she can read the minds of other people on the battlefield, browsing their senses and giving her a huge advantage against ambushes and in combat.

This was originally going to be a telepathy tank, but then I realized that was an exercise in futility and just went with telekinesis. Combining DEX primary with some of the dodge/avoidance specializations in its tree, alongside Invulnerability, Evasive Maneuvers, and BCR makes this mechanized brain-in-a-tank live up to its double-edged name. I really wanted to make this some sort of healing tank, but until I figure out how to exactly implement that, I think I'll be sticking with the basics!

I love Think Tank, both in design and concept.

Curious about the details of the build, though - then again, I confess I'm unfamiliar with coming up with tanker builds that aren't roughly-paralleled to the Behemoth and Savage ATs.

Thanks. There's a lot of different ways to design tanks, but in the case of Think Tank, her main attacks are Telekinetic Eruption (Which does a pretty good job of spreading Challenging Strikes in a pinch, AND applies defense buff if charged long enough), Telekinetic Assault (For Crippling Challenge and far-ranged leech stacking), and Telekinetic Lance (Just to take advantage of those Ego Leech stacks.)

Basically, for any tank, you'll pick a defensive passive to keep yourself alive. You will take crippling challenge on a single-target attack that's quick and effective, and challenging strikes on a wide AoE you will be using a lot. Because you're no longer restricted by a passive to certain damage types, you can potentially take attacks from across the board, but the real good tanks tend to use defense-downs and other debuffs and mechanics to keep a high damage output.

Just for an example, you could easily design an Electric tank by superstatting some combination of Con/End/Ego, placing crippling challenge on Lightning Arc or Chain Lightning (the DPS nut in my head tells me to get Chain Lightning for the express purpose of applying CC, as you WILL want devastating single-target DPS from a full-rank Lightining Arc.) And placing challenging strikes on any one of your AoE attacks (the best candidate probably being Sparkstorm.)

    [end gigantic tank build derail]

That's just an alternate outfit. I generally only do card updates like that if their original design becomes completely irrelevant, or if I feel that it's really badly designed compared to its current iteration.

Given that a lot of people, both here in the thread and in game seemed to like the original design just fine (though I have but an inkling of why), The card will probably be staying the same. I just entered that outfit into that contest because I really wasn't sure if the judges would appreciate the simplicity of the original design. :B
And about Chisoku clones, I'd love to have pictures of them. Not to report them, but I want to see what creative things they're doing with the design and get some extra ideas!

Actually, the one I saw was EXACTLY the same. I'll have to grab a screenshot if I see him again.

And yeah, I do like the original design of Lady Anubis as well.

The last exact copy of me I saw was back in 2011 some time, and the last 'semi-clone' someone pointed out to me (within the last month) only had a similar helmet design and slightly shifted colors.

Oh well, guess things never change after all!

*nameless* - Indian-raised girl. Moved to the US at the age of 16; ran from home, learned to fend for herself by taming wolves and using the bow and arrow.

Got no idea what to name this one. This was largely a self-imposed challenge to see if I could design a character who looked Indian. The original design for the character was a fairly unimpressive dog ninja, which probably would explain the huge legion of wolves this character uses.

Pistoljack - Pistoljack grew up as part of a troupe of cowboy entertainers in the southwest. Pistoljack's specialty, as a young girl, was the lasso. Things went well until Tyrell Donaldson set up Snake Gulch nearby and forced the troupe out of business. After going back to school, graduating, and getting a newfound interest and hobby in marksmanship, she heard about Snake Gulch's misfortune and decided to pay the rival park a visit. Donning an updated version of her entertainer's outfit and packing akimbo six-shooters, she's hoping to give Donaldson both her personal aid and a bit of insight on her past.

Dual-pistols Lightining-Reflex tank. Not much more than that. Though that Wizard's jacket/tuxedo makes a really damn good cowboy suit, I have to say. But now things are beginning to get slightly redundant because I swear, by the time she's 40, she'll probably just be Bluhman's build with a different passive. Think I might give her bolos and maaaaybe chained kunai to simulate lasso trickery and substitute a lunge for the semi-ranged nature of pure pistols. Or just kill a million robots and get one that way.

Pistoljack is hell of a cowgirl, I loved her a lot, I would like to get a better look of her cowboy suit though. But at least the glimpse I get from here, makes hell of a good one.

Vasuda Vulpha - Indian-raised girl. Vasuda moved to the US at the age of 16, hoping the move would open new opportunities to her in life. However, her parents continued to keep a stringent eye on their daughter, and soon she began having trouble properly adjusting to the new country. She soon ran from home, far into the desert, only to uncover her latent ability to telepathically communicate with animals. After spending some time in the wild, practicing her marksmanship, and gathering a small force of wild wolves, she has become known as Vasuda Vulpha, or "Vasuda the Wolf".

Wolf-Bow-Girl's got a name now. Also, more characters.
Coulrophobia - Normally a psychology professor at the University of Miami, his area of expertise is in studying the sympathetic nervous system and phobia phenomenons. He once took a workshop in circus stunts, and from there, developed a hobby. A hobby soon turned into a side-job after other professors at the university managed to create a lightweight, blast-proof armor. Fully-aware of the strife in Vibora Bay, the professor had himself fitted for a blastproof clown suit, and took along a salvo of low-power and high-power explosives, disguised as various whimsical toys and bombs. Fully realizing the psychological edge he could gain by subduing his foes with either fear or laughter, he took up the name Coulrophobia; the fear of clowns.

Two years or so of playing, and this is the first time I've ever used Attack Toys. They're pretty damn good, and definitely fit this guys theme, which is explosive munitions. Though, since a lot of those attacks are higher-tier (for some reason) he's currently stuck with a sonic bow. He's also probably going to be horrible to do alerts with! His initial design is also one of my least favorites. Designing clowns is hard okay
Nocturno - A Russian-born athlete, Nocturno had won several medals in marathons, gymnastics, and wrestling competitions. His career continued well, until it was uncovered in 2001 that he had actually been using light samples of VIPER's draysha to boost his physical capacities. Now unable to pursue his profession in his homeland, he changed his name when he moved to the United States, and soon was able to recover his runners' career. Old habits didn't die easy, and soon he was caught cheating again in 2010. Now having made a veritable stockpile of funds, he has decided to go superhero, training himself in close-quarters combat, and the skillful wielding of throwing stars.

After finally sorting out how throwing star worked (aside from role, it's acts entirely like a ranged attack) this weird batman dude leaps out of the shadows. Will probably be one of the lowest level characters to get entirely respecced, thanks to Nighthawk and stuff. Created mostly because I thought the collar/hood combo looked cool, and that's about it. Still not entirely sure of the body design.

    OTHER
Invisible Man - A veritable showcase of part glitches. Yes, he has no head under his hood, and no arms under those sleeves. As you can see, being invisible does not have very good benefits for financial income.

Chisoku - New Outfit - This one's actually been around for a while, but it bears mentioning since his card has a look I almost never use anymore. Could be thought as a slightly heavier alternative to his base design, but not too heavy. He is all about agility in combat, after all.

Lady Anubis - Armor - Another one that's been around for a while. Much like Chisoku's redesign, it's another outfit I find myself using quite frequently (partially because sometimes you just don't feel like running around naked).

Lady Anubis - R63 - This is actually Orlaskathut in disguise. If you ever wondered what a male god as a woman looked like as a man, well, now you know.

Orlaskathut - P2 Recolor - This is just a recolor I made one day of Orlaskathut. I originally did want Orlaskathut's belly a shade of brown, but the way his default colors were set up made it so that choosing a lighter shade would result in something either sickly yellow, or too close to flesh-color. Thus, this was made, and I also fooled around with throwing a bit of greens in there to create some funky contrast.

Paladin - P2 Recolor - This is actually the opposite case of Orlaskathut's recolor; these were actually his original colors, instead of his current gold/white/red. I've been told a few times by close friends that they like this colorscheme better, but honestly, the one on his card is a lot more 'paladiny'.

Paladin - Demon's Redemption Redesign - This outfit has a bit of a backstory. The guy on the right? That's Demon's Redemption, a semi-similar guy to Paladin from CoH (only a lot more angsty and has a tormented past and aglksghal) who used a big old blade and regenerated health. As Paladin's build evolved from "heavy weapons guy with invulnerability for good armor" to "experiment in offensive-passive tanking and BCR and dodge and conviction and-wait how the hell did I get all this healing" and I began writing a more detailed story for Paladin, they essentially merged into the same character at some point. That said, it's probably my favorite outfit for this guy so far.

Paladin - Purple Armor - I just got the bird armor. Because of it, I created this suit of armor that makes Paladin look like some sort of fighter/mage/alchemist (who horribly squanders all his level-ups as the ranger and thief he's teaming with completely mop everything else up, but that's another story.) I didn't want to use those freaking samurai plates for the legs again, so I had to get creative and ended up using the Harmon Power Armor legs underneath the tunic. Aside from that weirdness, I'd say the upper body (and especially those gauntlets) came out perfectly.

How did you obtain the scissor hand of gulch barber??And where did you found coulrophobia's clown mask??
  • bluhmanbluhman Posts: 2,410 Arc User
    edited August 2012
Gulch Barber's hand is a combination of the Roin'esh blade hand, and a heavy weapon. A pretty nutty combination, as it results in one blade which moves freely (the heavy weapon blade) and one which stays parallel with the arm (the roin'esh blade), producing a sort of scissors effect in certain attack animations.

Coulrophobia's mask is a combination of 3 pieces: The Formal Wear masquerade mask, an armored chin, and Black Harlequin's Mask, which is only obtainable through a holiday-time perk.

Yeah, fancy that, they actually brought back the bug that allows you to reconstruct an invisible man. How about that?

VV was probably the first character (in a long time) that I needed help with in constructing the outfit. The original draft of the outfit was mostly identical to the one on the right, with a white outfit and a much lighter skintone.

Coulrophobia's got a mask for every situation. If you think his default mask is scary, you might not want to see his actual scary mask.

The change from white was definitely for the better--I can see where solid white would look cool (and probably works great as an alternate costume), but those bright Indian colors really pop.

Heckrana - Dark spirit of scissors, she was banned from the elemental plane of cutting when she rashly entwined her people in a war with the rock people of the earth plane. Though not that powerful in upfront combat, she is worthy in her ability to sneak up and slice enemies to death.

OK, I got no backstory for this one that really makes sense, but the general gist of this character is "dual blades with night warrior". And holy crap, does it work well. Every other second she isn't ripping into peoples backs with a 500932852387k stab, she's chopping everyone up with scissors in roughly 3 seconds.

Guy Calamari - An octopus who lived in the Great Barrier Reef, he managed to find a lost, cyber-augmenting diving suit that was being shipped from Australia to China. Finding his way in and climbing into the domed helmet of the suit, Guy accidentally activated the suit's augmentation systems, supercharging the octopus with advanced piloting knowledge and intelligence. Not seeking to flounder his newfound abilities, Guy set forth to explore the land-based world of the humans using his new suit.

Mostly a joke made for that level 40 competition that Cryptic's holding right now, Guy Calamari managed to make it to level 40 in a little under 3 days, using a build that makes practically no sense for him (boomerangs, magical damage-boosting circles, holy hiding magic, and chest beams from nowhere). Of course, such a build was used to make him the most broken thing possible. I swear, Ricochet Throw is basically the equivalent of force cascade in blast form. There was almost never a situation where a full-charged Ricochet shot wouldn't floor every henchman in a mob.

    Otras

Carmilla VI - Vampiric - Another case of "making a new outfit I like way more than the default"; probably way more sterotypical for a vampire to wear, but I don't care! Not enough vampires wear the classics these days anyway.

Statesman the Memorial. - A tribute to the progenitor of superhero MMOs.

Vai'Tu - An alien from far beyond the stars, she initially came as an ambassador to planet earth in order to join in an alliance against the threat of the Malvan empire's expanse. Her race's technology is rather rudimentary, however, and they still haven't perfected their translators. Thus, when the StarForce misinterpreted Vai'Tu's pleas for aid as offerings to join the hero force, Vai'Tu was welcomed to Earth's surface, only to be forced to fight for justice. Thankfully, Vai'Tu happens to be a master of using her race's innate regenerative and aura abilities to perform well in close-combat.

An experiment in a Pre/Dex/Str character who uses Compassion to become a melee healer thing: gain superior defenses through Martial Arts' dodge buffs, equipment, and high DEX, alongside the ridiculous healing power high Pre will allot. And also to passively heal things around me while doing this.

Notch Carinseeker - They told him not to dig too far, but that's unfortunately just what he did. Notch, once a famed and independent miner, managed to use his pickaxe and shield to dig his way to the fabled 'center of the earth', fighting off giant spiders, angry liches, and other creatures mythical by our standards. What greeted him when he had dug his way to the center was not anything any dwarven folk would have expected; a portal to earth. Now in direct contact with earth's wizards, this lost miner seeks to get a portal back to his simpler land.

I made a dwarf template, so I decided to use it. Might be a homage to two games about mining. Also, thank goodness they brought those crafting instances back.

Agent 12-48828-9634 : "Aglareth" - Thousands of years since the fall of Baldurs Gate, gnomish rebels had managed to overthrow the entirety of the countryside. The gnomes had forced the other races and kingdoms of the land to either submit to their reign, or face destruction, and by using their superior magical inventions, were able to usher an age of advanced technology. Only few races remained to revolt against the Gnome's tyranny: The elves, which had managed to retreat far east and set up their own bases underground, keeping an eye on Gnomish technological advances. Agent Aglareth was the first elf to test out a magically-powered planar gate, seeking to gain favor of the celestial and ancient forces that lay beyond the realm. Of course, the gate went a little off-course and plopped her out here on earth. Backed up with her superior technology, her mastery of storm magic and pyromancy, and toting her very own jet-powered flying machine, she works to prove herself to the humans of this world and seeks to at least gain their aid for the battle at home.

When I discovered the boons of how Aura of Ebon Destruction worked (It's basically an offensive passive that works almost as good as most ranged ones, but also does extra damage on critical hits), I wanted to make an elemental mage that could utilize different attack types. Of course, then there was the issue that I already had like 2-3 other typical medieval or shamanistic mages. The solution was something I had been tossing around for a while: Imagine when the Forgotten Realms/Midgard/Tamriel/Whatever would be like after 1000 years. There'd still be magic, but technology would have advanced alongside that, meaning you might get stuff like this: Super government/resistance agents who cast spells and also happen to be elves and stuff.

It seems the site has finally cut off my 1st post around Heckrana's bio. BLEARGH! It's back to the classic styles for now I think.

Thanks, marine. I just write stuff for these costumes and I guess they just stick! (And then 3-20 months later I go to Primus and write 10 paragraphs instead of 1.)
As I say, it's only bad to repeat your own concepts. Heck, 2 out of 3 of these new people have very clear influences from other works (Mass Effect, Starcraft, Minecraft, Forgotten Realms, Dwarf Fortress, etc)

Thanks for the words, Cervando! Kind of funny you say that, because there's plenty of designs here I'm not happy with. To compound that, it usually takes me like 8 or 9 tries to get things right. And even then, I sometimes find make a new design by complete accident for an old character, and I'm like "Well, crap. Now I have to update that card again."

    Just to emphasize this...
    • Notch went through 2 looks. Largely a recolor that turned him into more a homage than anything.
    • Vai'tu was a character I had long in the works as an alien shaman thing. After discovering the whole Nighthawk glitch thing, she changed from 4-eyed wolf into a tall grey alien. The decision to change her look from her shaman gear to a much more humble garb was due to the build she was using. After Telepathy is updated, I'm planning to revert to the shaman look on the left and become ranged.
    • Aglareth went through 3 completely disparate prototypes; none of which were elves. She was originally going to be a spy-flick-like secret agent that used munitions/stealth, but I opted against this since I felt I already had enough stealth/DPS characters as is. You can see what happened with the whole "mask" gimmick on the 2nd one in this lineup.

A couple more. These are more suitably superhero-themed.

Alkaline Aegis - "Former worker at a car factory, Alkaline Aegis' workplace was destroyed in a quite untimely manner during the Battle of Detroit. Though at the time a simple assembly robot maintenance worker, Aegis has some uncanny skill with mechanics, and spent several weeks inside the ruined factory collecting parts to construct his current electrical armor. He is a valiant veteran of the Battle of Detroit, and continues to fight to this day."

The logic that lead to this guy was that I originally wanted to make a PFF tank, especially with the knowledge that Compassion could further boost the amount of protection the passive offered. It didn't take long for me to realize that the lack of mitigation of damage that was deal to the shield itself meant it was basically a less effective version of Regeneration with a high Constitution stat. Instead, what resulted was this guy, who is ye classic Electric Tank. His combination of superstats and energy returns means that he's probably one of the only builds so far I feel really comfortable using in the low-energy tank role.

Swansong - "A former supervillainess, Swansong was a psion who was dealt a crippling blow to her back by VIPER soldier Ripper, who she had been working alongside at the time. Though eager for revenge, her injuries had severely weakened her telepathic powers and her prognosis was not looking promising. Using what little telekinetic power she has left to keep herself on her feet, she's decided to make the best of her last days and is now trying to redeem herself."

This is an attempt to finally make a control character. Ego choke, ego storm, placate, confuse, manipulator, the whole shebang. We'll just see how excruciatingly horrible this build turns out to be, even when using the most ridiculously overpowered passive available.

Son, you got Guts to make such Quick observations! To Top it all, what really Drills the whole thing home is that the Gravity of the concept is that the Flame of the idea came in a Burst. A Search for the mechassassin cannon, combined with the idea to use a blast-based build and a bit of application of Concrete design principles resulted in this Sheep being created.
I MUST know how you did this.

It's very heavily glitch-based, like I said. For starters, he's actually wearing a bubble helmet, and you will most likely need to get Irradiates Jacket II to get that look for the arms. There's other parts that achieve a similar effect as well, though.

Very well. A lot of costume sets recently released have parts that can be applied to categories one wouldn't normally suspect. For example, check exactly what is listed under the 'Coat' category when creating an outfit. You'll most likely see some options that don't seem to belong there. The same applies to Nighthawk's hood and mask, in particular. Go through all the different head categories possible, and see just what crazy hood/mask/part combinations you can come up with!

    Anyways, got a new one.

Ignuss - "A volcanic creature formed entirely of amorphous magma, a recent trip to the Canadian surface has unfortunately left his body partially solidified. Though his intentions and true relations to humans are cryptic, he seems to appreciate the great value they take in his ability to produce such quantities of obsidian. Others, seeking to capture the creature and exploit him for his production of wealth, have only been met with painful contusion and cauterization."

Some might note a few similarities between this guy and another volcanic superhero whose name I cannot remember for the life of me... He used a combination of vine and rock parts like I did here. Anywho, this is an attempt at a magma offense build: carefully selected Earth, Fire, and Heavy Weapon attacks that use mainly rocks for damage, and fire for DoT support and energy generation with Clinging Flames. The passive being used here is Aura of Ebon Destruction: once again, the only true non-type specific damage passive.
