Well... Done... This is an absolutely PERFECT implementation of jetpacks for this game... Thoroughly impressed.

Does it otherwise behave like jet boots? If so, having its mechanics (as well as SFX) vary based on a costume part seem, well, odd.

It's probably cause it moves the fx emanation from the feet to the back instead so they bypass the maximum emanation points issue there.

Why they just didn't upgrade jetboots, not sure. curious if it's now as fast as jet boots, but has the gear shifting choices of regular flight. If that's the case, then it makes sense as a separate power, cause it's has a different template.

Its not in the C-store on test. You are preaching to thw choir, but every other C-store travel power was on test (or not) but had to be purchased from the free store on test.

I can make this easier - the new Jet Pack flight power is free. Due to the way the FX messaging works, as well as the animation changes, and the fact we wanted it to behave as Jet Boots flight, we had to make it into a separate power instead of somehow incorporating the Jet Pack FX directly into the other flight powers.

In addition to Jet Pack flight coming out, and working with existing jet pack geo, we will also be releasing a Jet Pack costume set, which will come with several new pieces of jet pack geo, each with corresponding FX when used with Jet Pack flight.

Ahhhh, so the power is free, but the costume pack isn't. Got it. Sweet!

Any chance the costume department is going to do a review of the current jetpack pieces so they don't clip with the bubble helms? Or has that ship sailed long ago?

That's excellent news. I was kinda feeling on the optimistic side to hope that the TP and the costume set would be bundled as part of unlocking the Jet Pack TP itself, which would make it 420 CP, I think. Now I can get it for 380(?) since I'm assuming it will sell for the standard costume price.

So, yay! As an optimist, I won the battle and yet I still win the war because I was pleasantly surprised with something even better!

My thanks to you and your money-minions for making my CO-related day, Ame!

Just a question... The version of Jetpack Flight I tested on the PTS a few days ago was able to be charged. Will this latest patch change that so they are simply a click-on then ramp-up over time power instead? If so, please consider keeping the charge up instead...

All other flying travel powers we got so far were all based on the basic flight power, I think it's best if this one is like jetboots ramp over time instead.

I suppose that will have to be a point on which we disagree. I much prefer the ability to charge up my travel power, and immediately zip off at max speed. It also seems odd to sort of putter off in your new sleek looking jetpack...

You do realize the combat speed of Jet Flight is superior to regular fight right?

I've pointed it out several times already. I think a lot of people just turn off Flight during combat, which makes sense, it costs energy and does basically nothing for you tactically.

Jet Boots on the other hand, is a half-way decent combat travel power.

I nearly exploded from holding in my screams. I had to stop and breathe, reread it again and then I nearly fainted. Thank you so much Devs! You are amazing!

Though I do understand the reason you are pointing at. Jetpack isn't a reskin, it's a new power, something you said you wouldn't charge for. Major kudos for keeping that word. :) You guys are just the best.... really and truly you are.

I wanted to ask a question though. Since Jetpack is now it's own separate flight and not a reskin of jet boots or regular flight, will we be seeing reskins of it in the future? Something akin to air or water jetpacks propulsions... anti-gravity bursts... bleh, sorry. Getting WAY ahead.

Again i thank you tho. You have made several people extremely happy, including myself. :)

This should be a front-page news item. It's ****ing awesome.

Question though - how does it work for a character that doesn't have a jetpack as part of their current costume?

BUG: The no-backpack pose and animation for Jet Pack when there is no Jet Pack costume piece on the back seems like it should be Jet Boots, not Flight as it is currently.

Both for consistency for the mechanics, and to work as a whole...for example: You have the Jet Pack power, but you switched to a costume without the Jet Pack...it makes sense that you are now propelled by Jets in your feet instead, instead of hovering in a flight pose with Jet sound effects as happens currently.

Actually, I think it absolutely needs to work like this so players can't "break" the power (a standard flight pose with Jet Boots mechanics does not make sense as things stand) with something as simple as a costume change, and Jet Boots should be replaced by a power called "Jet Propulsion" that maintains this internal consistency.

I'd suggest a jetpack that folds out or something myself, but that would take quite a bit to add at this point.

Its not a bug: I like this as it is. What I see that I am getting is a power that works with Jet pack Geos AND an option to have the mechanics of Jet boots (which I perfer) on my non jet boot type toons.

Regular flight is horridly slow and has even worse combat effectiveness.

This power is now a 2 in 1 addtion to the game:

Works with jet packs, offers those of us who like the Jet boots playstyle a non flaming feet option.
It also gives my bird toons the flightpose I perfer (always hated the supergirl leg bent regular flight pose! the legs together is superior in my eyes).

Devs please do not change this.

I personally would maybe prefer smaller hexagon sections to make it look more like Energy Shield, if that would be possible. If not that, then any other way to convey a more "Energy Lens" type of appearance more along the lines of what Energy Shield manages to convey to me...the effect does work as is (and is certainly better than before to me), but is missing a bit of "liveliness" IMO.

Really? It looks like that now? I thought I was just being ignored, didn't think anyone actually listened to me...wait...oh I get it! You guys had both ready and were just testing our reactions to them..very slick you guys.. ;)

..note I'm really just kidding. I just spout off madness whenever I'm happy! I'd have to check it out myself though and really appricate that development takes all our suggestions/feedback (either minor or outlandish) with some professional consideration even when I'm not. :)

Note: I really do think they had both kinds waiting around and wanted to test our reactions to the first one.

Well, and I tested this with Field Surge and Energy Refraction on Thunder Struck to be sure, the problem is that the shield needs to mesh well graphically with the Force Shields, otherwise it'll just look hideous. As it stands now, this shield sits over top of the Force ones. But if much more was done to it, it would start looking really convoluted for such a temporary effect.

Just a question: Is Jet Pack a Free Travel Power or a Gold Travel Power? Because if it's free for Silvers, I can see the sells for Rocket Boots go down the drain.
