Lights eminating from inside the ice-columns light the pathway at night.
Off to the left of the pathway in the freezing waters there is the option of: a boat or a helicopter on an adjacent iceflow in a rough state of repair / disrepair, perhaps some snowmobile scrap with snowmobile tracks off into the wilderness, possibly even a rough snow runway with a smaller scale one-man superjet.
The citadel itself would be set into a huge iceberg like this, this or this, slightly undercut, the rich blue of the ice indicates the oldest, hardest and purest of ice that has been carved by the sea over millennia.

The Iceberg has many Ice columns jutting out of it, puncturing it and crossing fortress of solitude-style. It looks distinctive but not completely conspicuous due to its native materials and organic structure. There could be skylights or gaps in the architecture to let in light and let air circulate.
Fractal void!
You travel through a merging ever-changing animation of mathematical colourful fractals (maybe even Mandelbrot ones, they're the celebrities of the fractal world...)...
It's mathsy for tech guys, it can look mystic for mages, and it's abstract for arty-loving everyone else!
It's win-win!
(so, basically it's a cube which you can't see the textures of it, and different areas of the fractal void are different hideout features, with the fractals constantly shifting)
It would be confusing as hell to be in, and you could actually get lost as there's nothing telling you where the door is.
... Okay, maybe there'll be a slight outline around various objects, but that ruins it a bit, dunt it?
if I ever get to do an underwater base, have no fear that it will not include a moon pool.
However, it would act like every hideout exit, and would put you back where you left, not at the river in MIL or something (unless that's where you were when you went to your hideout in the first place)
Yeah, in retrospect I suppose we can do the RP ourselves; ie: jump in the water then 'go-to-hideout' button (for the return via water theme).
Still, a small area of underwater exploration around your underwater base via a moon pool would be fun and very popular I imagine. Kind of like you can fly off the balcony in Penthouses and there is a little bit of enviromental wiggle room before you hit invisible walls and you can fly up and look at the roof etc.
How about an Orbital space base, With a great view of earth bellow.
With options for zero or normal gravity.
How about a moon base variant, Underwater
Underwater has been requested so many times, I think it may be the #1 desire among the masses.
As to an orbital base, you're the first that I'm aware of, but I'm in for it. The JLA had one for years, and in the CU lore I believe both UNTIL and Star*Guard each work out of one. Many of the specifics from the Moonbase could be ported in, and of course there could be plenty of opportunity for all-new stuff. So, yeah, good call -- I'm in.
A proper orbital satelite hideout MUST have routinely got lasers firing from a large cannon towards different locations on a small image of Earth on the sky. Why?
Well the orbital cannon comes down from SOMEWHERE, you know?
(I've always felt that it's a bit tactless for gadget heroes to use orbital cannons in MC. I mean, it wasn't that long ago when they were being attacked by the orignal Dr. D with one...)
New Zealand hideout. It's basically a green field with trees around the area, a patch of lava being visible from a cave, sheep and pigs and cows frolicking around the area...
And a small wood and stone shack in the middle of it, with various chests and tables and beds inside that...
Okay, fine, I've been playing a certain currently in full version game a lot lately.
40's-style - re-discovered WW II bunker-complex.
50's-style - Atomic fallout shelter re-purposed.
80's-style - A scientist's top-secret nuclear generator-powered laboratory.
I like this. Make it about the size of a shipping container or medium-size manufactured home, include items appropriate for various character types, and I'm in.

Actually it just hit me that Tumer (et al) could just use the layout of Ice Station Alpaca Building 3 (removing the side rooms for use as crafting areas and such).
i think a supergroup headquarters type hideout would be awesome.... something that all members of a supergroup could use.... and you could have different styles just like standard hideouts.... i dont know about anyone else, but id be willing to spend more cryptic points on a supergroup HQ that my whole group could access

Hideouts are player housing for you and a couple of friends, they are not fully fledged Foundry-enabled SG-Bases.
Thats something quite different.
Warehouse! Doubles as a factory (With C-store purchases, the Industrial Warehouse, of course...), a storagey place), and as a general *big block with junk thrown in with stuff that was recycled from the warehouse instances you saw earlier in the game*
Because I love warehouses. The rare times when I get telekinesis really shine when I'm in there, and it's fun to show off that power to people. *mentally throws a Batfoxayoyo (made out of Genuine Lead! Get one now for your kiddies, it's a steal!) at you, but it rolls back and hits me on the head, leaving me unconscious*
After all quite a few superheroes are Kings or Princes of exotic foreign lands, undersea kingdoms, alien worlds. Some have Arch Nemeses that want their throne. Several classic stories include villains that turn good that are Queens or Emperesses or Princesses of alien planets etc.
Have a big throne that has several design choices including art-deco, medieval, alien-former-villainy, throne of skulls, tech-throne etc. (if the characters could actually sit on the throne it'd be truly epic)
Have weapons on walls, maybe even a choice of several guards (robed aliens, retro soldiers, medieval warriors, guard-bots), a big grandiose carpet etc.
The computer could even be a servant/advisor!
Have big windows showing a choice of outside worlds including deep space (so the throne-room could be on a ship, maybe moving stars to look like travelling or maybe with an optional black-hole visible), Alien planetscape, ocean with whales/fish swimming in it, great mountains. This last one would make the throne room super-diverse, covering together in one a bunch of existing suggestions and covering a wide range of heroes!
Or a specifically Spaceship base. Where like the moonbase you can go outside but this time you can go under it to! With a bridge, passenger section, cargo, prison cells, engine etc. And an outside that can change from a sleek rocketship to something more angular-tech like a mecha dropship or space-military transport. It could even have a hollow comet or flying saucer outside that can be entered via a teleport pad or by flight.

This is pretty close to the Space Station idea. In a choice between the two, I'd rather have the Space Station.
Still, there's some merit to the Spaceship idea as such. It could be either orbital or landed, and we could have a choice (initially) among Qularr, Gadroon, Roin'esh, and Space Agency.

Space stations are cool. But a spaceship would have more rp potential for me. Of course a space-station could have a docked or floating nearby spaceship, but it might be a bit big then compared to other bases. Maybe a supergroup base if such gets made? Or maybe the ship could be small, a single-room interior?
Edit: actually a spaceship could be added to the moonbase as a new exterior option/s considering the size of the laser and launchcode options a tall silver streamlined 50s rocket that would perfectly fit the retro scifi set could surely be done! And a bubble-dome smooth shiny flying saucer as a superb second option that might work for the alien characters. Both could have room for a few seats and a cockpit window so people inside could be seen from outside. They'd mix'n'match well with the other styles, and would be a great addition to the moonbases. And maybe the same pieces could be used for both moonbases and space stations?
I knew I should have got on here sooner; my sg said I should have posted the idea a couple of months ago...a little late I know, but I also thought that maybe missions could become available through the hideouts that could be an extra bonus to encourge players to buy them to get special items...like costume pieces, power items & maybe make the auction available as if the superhero is "accessing it online" from the hideouts. Also I would like to suggest that if sg bases are created the members would have the option of sending $$ & items to the sg bank account to save on the running from auction (if $$ or items for the sg) or just $$ to the sg...I know I certainly do alot of running back & forth between these places to contribue to the sg bank account.
just an idea...as I'm sure many of us grew up watching superman use these sometimes. This is one I haven't seen suggested so far, but then again going through over 500 pages of suggestions seems to be a daunting task considering that more are added daily by the ton!!! I cannot possible go through all the suggestion boxes & have many ideas to share. I welcome feedback..even if you think the idea is stupid it helps with future suggestions...thz all.
This would defintely rock! If you haven't been to Iceland your missing it out!!! The place is beautiful landscape this volcanic hotsprings with plenty of character & the steam gives it a kinda fogggy apearance..it has many geysers & I thought a geysercould be a fun way to get in & out.

a simple regular farm with animals, corn fields, etc; an indoor /outdoor type hideout. The time and weather can link to your (true) costal location.
Styles- Western Ranch, Southern Plantation, Pennsylvania Dutch, etc. there are many styles of farms around the world.
That could have a tech-farm hideout and be the moonbase in a farmfield as a biodome with the central chamber filled with giant-sized foods to solve world-hunger or alien/exotic plants or giant beehives! And then have owning both allow people to have their plant-filled dome on the moon!
If it's not too much stress on the STO licensing, maybe we could have a couple of Star Trek- inspired Hideouts, like a Trekkie Basement and a Federation Moonbase. These could even be a part of an Anniversary event for STO.
For that matter, the full release of Neverwinter (if it's not too close to put this kind of work in) could be marked with some D&D-inspired Hideouts, at least for the Basement, Cave, and Sanctum.
I'd love a hideout which has a table with a Dungeonmaster's screen thing (I've forgotten what that's called) on it with scattered dice and a game board and multiple minatures on it as an option. Also, spread that to all other hideouts. What? I want to have a text-based D&D circuit going on within Champions, and it's more fluid-feeling if you get them around a virtual table to simulate the real world. Or perhaps even... play the Champions game within Champions Online *in before anyone who can't just say something nifty about recursion mentions inception*

Oh if there will be an rpg in a hideout it should be the champions pnp rpg. a table, hex-grid map, pile of books, some miniatures (either old grenadier ones or minis of our characters) some snacks etc.
As for star trek stuff, maybe a model-kit of either enterprise or bird of prey which can be either half-assembled or completed.

Yo dawg, we heard you like RPG's, so we put an RPG in your RPG so you can roleplay while you roleplay.
I have a question about the outside enviroments concept;
You've said that exterior geometry cannot be changed, but in the context of a small area before entering a hideout (think rock-cave / Ice-cave / dagobah-like swamp hut exterior) would it not be possible to designate that area another room?, a pre-cursor and foyer if you like, (for example) walking along a short bridge over a dried-up riverbed / ice-lake / swamp and entering through the front door ( thus zoning to the interior).
I'm trying to think of a way of making a small outside enviroment have similar features placement and architecture yet be customisable into completely different looking scenes. I'm trying to think how exteriors could have swappable outside features in an outside-hideout catagory.
Eg:
Desert: 4x4 buggy, dried lake bed exterior, boulders, basalt stone columns architecture, stone door.
Antarctic: Helicopter, Hollowed out iceberg, small icebergs in water, Ice columns architecture, Ice door.
Swamp, Swamp boat, swampy marsh, logs and flora, tree-stump columns architecture, wooden door.
If this is possible, I'd love it. It'd be like a more open-air version of the lava/ice/jungle themes of the Cave hideout...
An overgrown jungle temple would be nice, with perhaps some implied snake-related theme, which'd give Viper-based toons some awesome bonussyness.
In fact, that's given me a thought for a new Zone deep in the future... To the Suggestions Box, AWAYYY!
Science Lab would be nice, Maybe some of those Giant Chambers or Tube (Well you get the idea) filled with water where the creatures are developed in. Maybe the ability to go in it and float with a sleep state.
I have at least 1 hero(Wolf) that has background of being born in a Science Lab, Would be nice to have one to let my hero be able to go back from where he was made.

Some extra science-gear would be a worthy addition to any hideout. And having a big tank/tube with a choice of mad-science contents would be excellent as a feature piece.
See saying it that way just makes it sound like an even better idea!
And it'd be a fitting tribute to the games origins.

Both of these remarks fall in line with suggestions I've made previously (I'm too lazy this morning to do a Search for them).
For the first, I suggested that Mom's Basement include an RPG table all set up to play the Champions pen-and-paper game, complete with a GM's Screen.
For the second, I've been wanting a Modern Sanctum for Mister Shyft. For example, the Crime Computer could be an actual computer, but with a screen saver of zodiac symbols or some other mystic screenshot. The angel hologram could also be prominently featured, and various other bits of tech included (like some of the Tech Basement "tubes of goo" that he's currently using).
I may just sit down soon to build an entire list for the Modern Sanctum (like I did previously for the Man Cave Basement).
As promised, here are some ideas. Some are kind of lame, but I don't know that every detail necessarily needs to be covered. Others are already in use in other Hideouts, and would only need to be transferred (with varying degrees of simplicity).
Carpet
Black Feathers
Grey Zebra Stripes
Magitech Patterns (combining magical and scientific symbols in various color combinations)
Crime Computer
Actual Computer - Horoscope Screen Saver
Actual Computer - Planet Symbols Screen Saver
Floor
All of the Luxury Penthouse options (multiple hardwood floor options, at any rate)
Focal Point
Death Ray (from "Deathray Demolition")
Giant Holographic Angel
Giant Holographic Globe
Giant Ooze Pipe
Giant Spinny Thing
Stasis Field Generator
Platform Detail
Couch and Recliners
Futons
Park Benches
Social Area
Conference Table (with a laptop at each seat)
Stairs Detail
Aloe Plants
Busts - Einstein & Darwin
Busts - MacDonald & Peterson*
Busts - Stan Lee x2*
Busts - Steven S. Long x2*
Roses
Tailor
Light Wall With Alien Weapons
Robot Tailor (dress up a B17 robot in shirtsleeves with a tape measure across its shoulders)
Under Stairs
Ooze Pipe
Walls (all four)
Cinder Blocks
Drywall
Metal Blue (from Tech Basement)
Red Brick
*I suspect these would require the permission of those involved. I also suspect that said permission would be readily granted. If granted, these could also appear in other Hideouts.
I also suspect that people will be easily able to come up with more ideas, or point out where some of what I've mentioned is already available in Sanctums.
Clouds (similar to olympis theme)
Jungle/treehouses (able to roam on ground also)
atlantis/underwater(similar to moon how you can go outside except you would swim outside)
with the release of the rob liefield inspired iron set.
my suggestion is an apocalyptic future hideout with periodical searchlights peering thru the bullet holes and broaded windows or zombie arms and sounds from those broaded windows. and the exit could be a travellers portal, either magical or scientific in nature.

Hey that's really good!
While none of my characters would suit that i totally see how it would suit many iron-age characters and plenty of others pre-iron age too. It imediately reminds me of the last man on earth/omega man versions of i am legend as well as the dalek invasion of earth, the slime people and many other old movies and tv shows too.
I was thinking that a dream world hideout could be pretty cool; perhaps the hideout could be something that the player has a bit more creative input: like where the shared bank would be & the tailor would be as well as other features in the works.
How about letting a player create a hideout for thier nemisis: it would definately incourage the creative process that is so a big part of this game. Per haps also for players that don't want to go into that much detail; General hideout choices.
RAMBLINGS ABOUT AND OFFICE HIDEOUT
So... While waiting for the stats changes, I've been playing other games. And one game I've been playing is the Weekday Warrior mod for HL2, which is set in an office and the main character dreams of being a superhero. it's made me think that an cubicle office and associated rooms as a hideout could work very well. An openeable janitor's cupboard for the tailor, perhaps an ATM in the entry waiting room for the bank (it's not TOO implausible to have an ATM within a office building, for people to use in the vending machine, I think.), your own cubicle has a computer which acts as a crime computer (only problem with that thus far is that people might ask for other cubicle computers to work too as a crime computer.)
Now, assuming a crafting and training room is still on the cards...
Hmm.
I honestly have few ideas how that could work that doesn't involve another instance. Crafting could be some feature of the counters in the kitchen (incidentally, there probably should be customiseable crafting tables if they get implemented, so that they can fit the theme of the hideout) area, or perhaps the same desk that the crime computer is on could do it...
Training room is trickier, and beyond a personal gym room for employees, which seems to stretch at the realms of what is possible, I honestly have no idea.
RAMBLINGS ABOUT A UNDERWATER HIDEOUT
Glug glug glug glugg blUURRRBBLE!
So, I was thinking about Lemuria. And I think we do not need to have anything on that kind of scale.
I'm thinking... Fishbowl. About the size of the Mom's Basement. Can be swum in, you enter and exit via the top, you can see a blurry room outside the bowl, and the various objects within said fishbowl are the Hideout Functions. Castle is costume change. Air filter is crime computer. Air bubbles coming from a plant is your bank. Skull with eye patch on it is actually a open room with a crafting table inside it. Air filter may have a training room button thing that works for the entire hideout. Again, I'm not actually sure what the training room actually would be like, but on the assumption it'd work like the old Powerhouse training room, the fishbowl can have fishies being spawned. monstrous holographic fishies.
Hullo! All I'd ask for is the Home Gym option available in the Penthouse; I got the Luxury Penthouse, but think the Home Gym would be better fitted for the loft. But that alone would be worth 500 points to me, haha!
But home gym or not, these 'hideouts' lend a degree of customization and homeliness that no other game of this type has. Me and my friend were thinking it's a cross between Star Wars Galaxies and Saints Row 2--to have player housing in an MMO and have 'crib customization' as found in the latter--and we love it. RPGs are about reaching the top tier, and MMOs are about community and the people you interact with; so having an MMORPG that lets you take a break from the usual grind to bounce around in a moonbase, or digitally relax by the pool is a wonderful bit of freedom not often seen. So thank you very much for putting the time and effort into making them and maintaining them!

I'd like to see some "life" in the hideouts.
Think of NPC's (that can be dressed up as minions or your alts), but also mor environmental type of life:
Fish or frogs in water, a monkey flitting by, rats in the basement, etc etc (and some magic creatures like wisps, lava salamanders and so on)

Both could have room for a few seats and a cockpit window so people inside could be seen from outside. They'd mix'n'match well with the other styles, and would be a great addition to the moonbases. And maybe the same pieces could be used for both moonbases and space stations?
If not at least a hideout. No new programming, just new social zone.. ta-daa
What are you referring to here?
Styles- Western Ranch, Southern Plantation, Pennsylvania Dutch, etc. there are many styles of farms around the world.
That could have a tech-farm hideout and be the moonbase in a farmfield as a biodome with the central chamber filled with giant-sized foods to solve world-hunger or alien/exotic plants or giant beehives! And then have owning both allow people to have their plant-filled dome on the moon!
For that matter, the full release of Neverwinter (if it's not too close to put this kind of work in) could be marked with some D&D-inspired Hideouts, at least for the Basement, Cave, and Sanctum.
If this is possible, I'd love it. It'd be like a more open-air version of the lava/ice/jungle themes of the Cave hideout...
In fact, that's given me a thought for a new Zone deep in the future... To the Suggestions Box, AWAYYY!
I have at least 1 hero(Wolf) that has background of being born in a Science Lab, Would be nice to have one to let my hero be able to go back from where he was made.
See saying it that way just makes it sound like an even better idea!
And it'd be a fitting tribute to the games origins.
Some extra science-gear would be a worthy addition to any hideout. And having a big tank/tube with a choice of mad-science contents would be excellent as a feature piece.
Modern Sanctum:
Ambient Effects
Robot Dragons (tiny ones, carrying books and stuff around)
Carpet
Black Feathers
Grey Zebra Stripes
Magitech Patterns (combining magical and scientific symbols in various color combinations)
Crime Computer
Actual Computer - Horoscope Screen Saver
Actual Computer - Planet Symbols Screen Saver
Floor
All of the Luxury Penthouse options (multiple hardwood floor options, at any rate)
Focal Point
Death Ray (from "Deathray Demolition")
Giant Holographic Angel
Giant Holographic Globe
Giant Ooze Pipe
Giant Spinny Thing
Stasis Field Generator
Platform Detail
Couch and Recliners
Futons
Park Benches
Social Area
Conference Table (with a laptop at each seat)
Stairs Detail
Aloe Plants
Busts - Einstein & Darwin
Busts - MacDonald & Peterson*
Busts - Stan Lee x2*
Busts - Steven S. Long x2*
Roses
Tailor
Light Wall With Alien Weapons
Robot Tailor (dress up a B17 robot in shirtsleeves with a tape measure across its shoulders)
Under Stairs
Ooze Pipe
Walls (all four)
Cinder Blocks
Drywall
Metal Blue (from Tech Basement)
Red Brick
*I suspect these would require the permission of those involved. I also suspect that said permission would be readily granted. If granted, these could also appear in other Hideouts.
I also suspect that people will be easily able to come up with more ideas, or point out where some of what I've mentioned is already available in Sanctums.
Modar
I need more love for School Student-Hero.
Jungle/treehouses (able to roam on ground also)
atlantis/underwater(similar to moon how you can go outside except you would swim outside)
some said already just my detailes on them
my suggestion is an apocalyptic future hideout with periodical searchlights peering thru the bullet holes and broaded windows or zombie arms and sounds from those broaded windows. and the exit could be a travellers portal, either magical or scientific in nature.
