    space ship
    -organic
    -ancient
    -clean white
    -damaged
    -old

to clarify, ancient is not the same as old.
while ancient is more pre-developed like the ancients of stargate, old is a ship of just around 50 years old.

    PAPER!
No, seriously. Basically you're in a dimension hidden within a book, different rooms are pages... Think of Winnie The Pooh style jumping from page to page (not sure how that'd work in 3d but BLAH) in the Disney cartoons... Maybe a papyrus or old parchment effect to the air? Basically it'd be an extension of the empty void idea someone had earlier, except that you could have butlers and items and whatnot... It'd fit with some magic-user's backstories too, having a book they can suddenly disappear into to store their stuff... Like a bag of holding for biblophiles.

oh, and another idea. A smoke and fire factory.
Or basically any other kind of abandoned yet non-OSHA compliant factory.
    Get Tropey with it, heroes!

Here are my requests for new Hideouts:

    -Bunker (Hidden, Tech)

    -Underwater Base (Submarine, Station, Temple)
    -Dojo
    -Police Station (Old, Modern, Tech)

Simulation of an alien attack on Millenium City, with various NPCs modelled as famous heroes acting as terminals for you to control the simulation and store physical objects as data, access crime computers, etc.
    ...
    Wait.
I'm nesting what is essentially the tutorial within the game's own universe, meaning that we have a game within the game.
This leads to a near endless tower of smaller and smaller games within the games until we reach the point where it's simply impossible to simulate it... Which probably would cause the universe to implode or something, I don't know.

What in the world is an Open Hideout? This base unlike any of the other hideouts not not require a scene change. The base may be located anywhere, i.e. deep in the mountains, under an over hang, in a dark culdisack, in the hills. The open hideout looks like one of those tent set ups you find a number of mission at, like the one at the prison. All your equipment is sitting around outside. The hero is able to place equipment in a variety of locations within the particular place. The only way to get to the base is by using the heros actual mode of transportation to get there, it is not instant like the other hideouts, but the advantage is any number of heros can gather there, but the equipment cannot be accessed with out the Hero that the equipment belongs to.

Can enemies get to the equipment and destroy it for a short time? of course they can, you must then have a sufficient skill in science to repair them. I never said an Open hideout was perfectly secure. Perhaps hideout levels will or forking up cryptic coin can fortify your Open Hideout!

Something completely different. A goofy, cartoony, bright colored styled hideout out full of jokes and pop culture references. Three styles in this type could be a Joke Shop, a Clown College, and a Silly Sorcerer's Shop.

Joke Shop would have tons of funny items on the shelves and lots of pop culture easter eggs. Other than all the silly items, it would look like a normal Joke Shop. Brick or wall papered walls and a hard wood or carpeted floor. Some of the items would be typical joke shop items like fake poo, glasses with big nose and mustache, puppets, rubber chickens, jack in the boxes, whoopee cushions, joy buzzers, etc. These would go along with some pop culture joke items, like a pair of blue gloves with metal claws, a gatling gun labeled "Sasha", a green helmet with orange glass visor, a Foxbat Ping Pong Ball gun, a gold utility belt, a box of cigars with a nuke symbol on them, a zombie head with an eyeball necklace, a remote controlled Defender toy flying around the room, and any other fun easter eggs. The tailor would be a dressing room and the crime computer would be a regular computer.

The Clown College would have goofy clown decor, almost a fun house feel, with bright, multi-colored walls. Some brightly colored shag carpeting for the floor. It would have all kinds of clown like items such as clown wig heads, manikins with various clown clothing, over sized chairs, a unicycle, various juggling items (including chainsaws), and a make-up desk for the tailor. The back wall would be painted to look like a giant curtain. Haven't figured out what the Crime Computer would be yet.

The Silly Sorcerer's Shop would have strange, off the wall decor such as water dripping up to the ceiling, an M.C. Escher style stairway leading from the wall to the ceiling, and other crazy magic effects like multi-colored balls of light floating around. Its shelves could be filled with funny items like a top hat with a rabbit sticking out, a wizard hat with mouse ears attached, a pair of glasses with a lightning bolt attached to one eye, a pair of strap on Icarus wings, some stuffed Cthulu dolls, and a Star Trek Enterprise ship (a hint towards STO) floating around the room. The shop would be painted to look like you're in the sky, but upside down. The floor and walls painted to look like the sky, with the sun and some clouds. The ceiling would be painted to look like ground, with trees, mountains and some buildings. An added effect would be the back wall painted to look like the room extends farther than it really does. A magic mirror would be used for the tailor and a small bird bath looking stand filled with water would work as a Crime Computer.

We could then interchange these pieces to create some really wild looking hideouts. I have a couple toons who would use these, and I'm sure the LoL SG would love these as well :D

I'd like something Art Deco. So very Art Deco. I think a lot of CO fits this already, especially the Renaissance Center, but there doesn't seem to be an appropriate imperial grandiose feel to any of the current hideouts.

Something in the flavor of Metropolis (the movie), or Batman The Animated Series from the 90s.. or just reminiscent of the sweet spot in the 20s and 30s.

I already suggested a 'abyss' or void for a hideout. Basically a pitch black space with no object. I'd like to take that a step further and for customization suggest being able to alter the voids color. Black would be great for a pocket dimension, shadow realm, ect. Red could easily be a firey or hell setting, green a nature realm, white heaven. No need for additional objects just the colors. Has potential to be used as an astral plane, or a mind scape and so much more making this simple idea very versatile. Maybe have a floating light or crystal or something that indicates the tailor/crime computer. It'd be super easy for the devs to make and I know many that would buy it.

Well I'd pay for a 'hideout' that was a weird void [with changeable backgrounds] that had platforms of various sorts floating in it, with bitty bridges connecting them.

    That'd be cool

An astral plane hideout actually would be pretty cool. It would even rationalize the act of just poofing in and out of your hideout.
A big wispy void with rocks floating around in the backdrop, maybe some sort of giant maelstrom beneath you, and the hideout itself being a collection of floating ledges with no walls or ceiling.

-Edit- And I realize now that Tumerboy already has it in the OP list :p

I have a question. Are we limited to 3 bases per type?

If not, can we get a tinkerer's basement?
Basically a basement filled with tools, basic machinery (Not the really hi-tech stuff), various spare robot parts and half built, bare bones robots, some various mid/low-tech gadgets laying around. Basically looking like someone took a basement from a Radioshack and tried turning it into a lab.

Also a Radioactive Cave. Having pools of nuclear waste, various opened and unopened toxic waste barrels. Mutated plant growing out of the walls. Regular rock mixed with glowing green rocks. Things like that.

There's no real limit, we just had 3 decent ideas for each, and ran with them. We could do more or less on future hideouts. But I think it's more likely we just make new categories to incorporate those themes, than adding them back into existing categories. Nothing planned, just a guess.

I would love to see some crossing over of themes. For instance, a "Vigilante Cave" or "Mystic Moonbase" could be cool. Just don't delve into "Mom's Cave"... it isn't pretty.

Don't forget, that's where you came from...

Mixing the Hi-Tech cave with the Industrial Cave pretty much gives you a Vigilante Cave. If you're creative enough, I'm sure you could mix some of the 60's stuff with the industrial moon base to get a make-shift mystic moon base.

A Mystic Cave, or a Vigilante or Hi-Tech Sanctum would be nice. I doubt mom's rich enough to have her own moon base, though.

A lot of people play angels, shadow beings and demons. A solid black void a white void or a red void are perfect to indicate a pocket realm or being in 'heaven, 'hell', or inside a shadow. It makes for a great 'stage' setter for the many rpers in champs which I bet if a study was done are the ones that spend the most money at the C store to get costumes, transformation devices, side kicks, ect all for rp value. Extra details like floating platforms, fire, stars, crystals, lights ect should be details that can be removable to help create that void, mind scape, or alternate dimension feel.

There are loads of awesome suggestions here...

The ones that strike me as popular in regards to the community are themes such as the graveyard, crypt, temple and so on.

Personally ever since seeing the avian warrior artwork im hellbent on creating an avian warrior toon (hurry it up please!) and as such anything avian related would be awesome. Mountain top maybe? Tree house?

Also ive always loved the idea of underwater things. An underwater biodome or cave or sunken ship, anything would be awesome. Of course being underwater would mean the exterior would have to look awesome too with fishies going past and whatnot.

If for example your in a sunken pirate ship youd expect to see hammerheads swimming around, if your in a biodome maybe a whale swimming in the distance? The cave could feature octopus and other similar critters... It could even have lemurians!

I dunno if it's copyrighted or not but having a crystal/ice cavern like a certain superhero from another line would be pretty cool, especially for thematic purposes for people with ice builds.

Or a retro sci-fi base, a hideout in the clouds (like the giant in jack and the beanstalk), a corporate-office like hideout, just to toss out a few more.

Not sure if those have been suggested already. I have no time reading the thread through at this point. If anyone suggested these already, take it as a /sign. ;)

    * Fancy Sanctum - A set of fancy, but not magical furniture for the Sanctum, like library walls without chains, floating candles or other stuff.
    * Inventor's Sanctum - A science-themed, steam punk-ish set for the Sanctum.
    * Laboratory Basement - A modern science-themed set for the Basement.
    * Arcane Basement - A mystical set for the Basement, for the not-to-wealthy mages, young apprentices of the mystic arts or goth people who just like to have that kind of stuff in their room.
    * Messy Basement - A set of random junk made into furniture (see the Industrial Cave's "Scavenged Furniture" conference table to get an idea) for the Basement.
    * Mystic Cave - A set of mystical furniture for mages that would rather hide their magical equipment in a hidden underground Cave.
    * Shamanic Cave - Possibly included in a Mystic Cave set, for mages that are in touch with nature rather than just living in a Cave.
    * Alien Moonbase - A set of Gadroonish or generally extraterrestrial looking furniture for the Moonbase.

I'm sure someone has mentioned this before...

    However if no one has:

Aquatic Cavern- A large underwater cave with a massive airpocket. The cavern is decorated with many Lemurian designs and artifacts, along with a pool of seawater and large coral reef. Perfect for any sea-dwelling heroes.

Glacial Cave- For those heroes who need to stay cool, this cave is built within a massive glacier deep in Anartictica, teamed with thick, and strong ice crystals. The Glacier itself never melts, and stays cold all year round so your hideout will and furnishings (which are all made of ice) will never melt! Perfect for heores who use dwell in very cold places.

    I might add more later.

I want like.. an underground vehicle launchpad with a retractable ceiling, where there's a waiting ospreys. An osprey.. not a regular helicopter. Osprey's are awesome!
It could be like a sideroom concealed in an officie building sort of setting.
I don't know, like.. 'move a bookcase' to reveal a passage-way to the helipad with an osprey.

This could be done by adding water to the bottom of the Rock Cave, or removing the plants from the Tropical Cave and adding an overlight that seals the hole in the ceiling of the other Cave Venue options.

Hmm. The base for this does already exist, more or less. Using the crystals from the Primal Cave in an Ice Cave looks very icy already. All we would need more for a completely ice-themed cave is a table, platforms and doors made of ice. Could easily be done by just recoloring the rock table, platforms and doors.

'mobile' hideouts. Not that I want a changing scene outside the windows, though that would be nice, but..

Submarine: An easy one, Lemuria has already generated at least two submarine 'deck plan' layouts and interiors. Clean them up, and voila, players have their very own submersible.. and a great place to corner the supervill and stop him before he can launch those nukes and start WW-3!

Spaceship: Because not all heroes can just fly thru space on their own, and Mars needs wom.. heroes! Themes could range from pulp/Buck Rogers to high tech/star trek/UNTIL, and the ever popular alien mothership!

Zeppelin: Cant rationalize it, but zeppelins are just sooooooooooooo cool!

    On a similar vein..

Helicarrier/flying base: SHIELD had one, Capt Scarlett had one, Sky Captain had one.. why not our heroes!

First off; I have no dislikes about any of the Hideouts I've checked out thus far. There are things I hope to see added, but there's nothing about any of them that I dislike.

I picked up the standard cave hideout, and it's cozy. I likes it a lot. I personally use the tropical locale 'cuz I like the waterfall.

Some other players were nice enough to let me take a tour of their pads so I could see all the other current hideouts, and I gotta say that they're all pretty darn cool.

With that out of the way; now let's get down to some brass tacks of things I really want to see added to the hideouts.

    1. A safe. This is where players can stash globals and leave globals in tow for their characters. Simple, useful, and not an outrageous thing to ask for (people do own safes last time I checked).

    2. NPC's to liven things up a bit. If your a "pet class" character you could choose to have your pets be doing things in your hideout. If you bought a sidekick from the C-Store; they could hang out in your pad when you go there (needless to say that the hangout time in the hideout shouldn't subtract from the sidekick's usable device time). I would also like the option to have other characters I created on my account hanging out in the hideouts as well. I'm not saying all of my characetrs at one time (the character limit for hideouts is currently ten I think) so you could despawn NPC's if you have freinds over once the character limit began filling up.

    3. A showcase housing mannequinns that displayed character's costumes when they weren't being worn. If you've ever watched anything Batman related; you know what I'm talking about.

    4. Villain trophy cases. Let's say you beat Black Talon (who hasn't, right?) and once you do this and get the perk you have tha option to display a piece of his power armor in a showcase. Let's say that this showcase can display 5 or so items at a time and you can change out which ones you want to show off for some extra variety as long as you have the perks for them. Could also enhance RP for the RP'ers ("Remember when we took down Shadow Destroyer?" while looking at the Helmet in the showcase, etc.)

    5. Increased interactivity with Hideout settings. It's been said several times that Hideouts are more or less "dollhouses" for our characters. I think these "playsets" should have tons of things for our "action figures" to toy around with. A stereo that plays music. A punching bag we can beat on. Spell books we can read. Beds we can sleep on. Chairs we can sit on by interacting (z key) with. Telescopes we can use. You get the idea.

    6. Crafting tables. I think this one is pretty self-explainatory.

    7. Nemesis attacks. Your Nemesis shows up; trys to trash your pad, beat up your friends and NPCs, and who's to say your Nemesis would bring the Nemesis of one of your friends that's hanging out with you?

    8. Guest appearances. Have the existing Champions IP heroes and such drop by to hang out. They could also drop in to ask for help (new mission content via Hideouts).

    9. Guest villain attacks. Let's say you beat up Talisman and saved the day. Something tells me there's a good chance she might be a little mad about that. Let's make the Hideouts themselves a venue for content since so much great work was put into them.

I, personally, see Hideouts as an amazing doorway for innovative new content in Champions Online. Social content, solo content, and co-op content...all from a fresh venue rarely seen in MMOs. It would just be such a huge wasted opportunuty to not do something amazing with Hideouts; especially since the community really seems to enjoy them.

What's everybody else's thoughts about it?

Ok I thought of an idea for the "Office" hideouts. The three types include Police Station, Corporate Office, Newspaper Office... maybe even a Game Developer's Office.

Here's how I see it looking. You have a large, square room that you start off in when you enter. This room is, what I believe is normally called, the bullpen. Its a large room full of cubicles all set up with computers and various personal affects. The rest of this is from the view of when you first enter. The wall on the other side of the room would have various decorations specific to the office type you chose. There will be two closed doors on the left and right sides, on the wall, that are closed for future expansions. There are two doors along the left and right walls.

One door on each wall will be open, the others closed. The right side is the door to Your office. Its a nice sized office with a view of the city, either high up or ground view. You have a large window in the wall that lets you view the bullpen from your office. You have a large desk with your Crime Computer on it. One side of the room will have a large wardrobe that functions as your tailor. On the other side of the bullpen, the other open door leads to the the break room, conference room, or interrogation room. You can set it up to be what ever you like depending on which Hideout Types you have. This area can function as the social/ meeting area.

The Entrance/Exit can be either an elevator door, or a normal door to the outside.

I agree with a police HQ, but that might just be because I just formed a subdivision of the MCPD and think it would be nice to have a hideout for us, rather than slumming it out in the public MCPD that for reasons I'm still not sure, practically no superhero knows how to find. (How many times have you gone on zone and you have people asking directions to the police station so they can get their nemesis? XD Some heroes, don't even know their way around the city!)

So yeah. A police station (and other officey environments) would be good for us slightly less superhuman toons who still have work to do... Currently the MCPD Super Division is based in a heavily armoured basement underneath the house of Mrs. Narlgut, as Surhoff is too cheap to give us funds for a proper base of operations. Her cats keep on biting our power leads! We need a proper station! Also, it's cramped down here!

I'd be happy with Small/Medium/Large options, upgrading and buying extra addons later. Giving friends open invitations to turn up at will. Also part exchanging your old base for a new one.

    Add ons like

Many have already suggested alien spaceship and I’d like to point out there are quite a few heroes with alien back stories. I know I’d be buying one myself, preferably at the same art level as the Druid Sanctum.

I'd really like the Amusement Park and Airship. Science Lab is also cool.

How about a room where your beaten nemesis are trapped?
Maniac nemesis smashing against the wall, masterminds are sitting quiet ...

... and a atelier as hideout!

What about a Police Station/Prison for law enforcement heroes? Especially the latter could have a bunch of prisoners yelling from the cells. Oh, and the prisoners are customizable!

How about placing your own screenshots from CO folder to the wall of your hideout?

How about placing your own screenshots from CO folder to the wall of your hideout?

This really belongs in the Hideout Functionality thread.

Though I like the idea, there are two problems that come up. One, how would other players see screenshots that are on your hard drive and not theirs? If it was possible to let everyone see the pics, whats to stop people from posting porn, or other inappropriate images, and then having people come in and look at them?

The screenshot folder is coded. If the upload doesen´t match the code the pic won´t be shown. Only CO screenies allowed. Other content is strictly prohibited due to Cryptic´s terms and conditions.

Other possibility is to make a contest every month. Players send thier best screenshots to an open contest where devs decide what pic becomes "screenshot of the month" and everyone can upload this one for the hideout pictureframe.
After 12 month we have 12 pics to choose from. Or make it a weekly contest...;)
