I hang out the most often in C&I, and in the Gameplay Bugs forums, but when there's nothing new there I just his "Today's Post" and click on whatever is interesting

Looking for new DEV TM input from the Critter Creators... in the line of
" What inspired you most"
in general or
ARC specific Critter dialog, fashion, behaviours. OR just stop in and say hi..
What's more thrilling then Fox-o-Vison?
I'll begin by selecting a Dev that we don't know much about and see if we as a player based can pull our resources and find out some more info on them. And obviously if the Dev in question would stop by and share a bit, that would make it a lot more interesting and effective.
So how I'll do it is I'll start a separate thread for each Dev in the introduction section and I will edit the first post to include the various info we discover on said Dev.
Once we have sufficient info, I'll make a link to that thread on this thread, so this thread will serve as an easy access point and hub for all the info we collect.
Then we'll choose a new Dev and start all over again.
So lets hear some candidates for our first Dev? (Remember that's not me hiding in your closet at night... I swear! ^_^)
I want a follow up with you in your game faces.. Elli Ewes Mony!
"Igor the MAd -Clan Douglas"
yay the tartans all wrong so sue me..i have deadbeats back.
We don't have a dedicated writer at the moment to my knowledge. . . I think Arkayne, Poz & Bill might come up with general stories it's just mostly the designer of the given area to fill in specifics? Could be wrong on that though. squeek!
It's perfectly understandable that, in the current economy and with subscriptions not as high as we would like, the decision is made to put off hiring a dedicated writer.
However, I am obliged to note that DC Universe Online has, as its writer, Marv Effing Wolfman, the guy who wrote Crisis on Infinite Earths and about a thousand other comics of the 70s, 80s and 90s. A dedicated comics writer is going to know how to create sophisticated and intelligent storylines with dialogue that does not sound like Skeletor. (For a change, in this game.)
Now, I know what you guys are thinking. That kind of a writer is expensive. But that's the thing: it's not as expensive as you think. Wolfman could not get a lot of work in the last decade because he is not seen as young and hip as the newer batch of hotshot comic writers (see: Bendis).
Tumerboy, I know you are not in charge of this sort of thing. And you may not even have the ear of anyone. But you guys might think about reaching out to semi-retired comic writers like Steve Engelhart, Roy Thomas, or Dan Fingeroth, and see if they would be willing to work for the kind of reasonable salary you can offer. These guys are all doing their own things these days, but they aren't in demand writing comics. Which is a damn shame. And perhaps something you guys could benefit from.

From the hundreds of Dev posts I've read, I too believe this to be the case.
Shame really, but this game isn't very story oriented to begin with. The way the game engine is designed everything is extremely linear, with very little real NPC interaction, so there's only so much they could do with a good writer. Though I would love it if they employed one, I imagine the writer would end up very frustrated with such a limited means of expression.
Now if he had more control over the layouts and NPCs as a designer as well, it would be a different story, but that would also mean a higher pay grade.
So yeah, would be awesome, but likely impractical.

SenshiBat: No we still have plenty more to meet, but I haven't had time to do much with it.
I'm also still gathering feedback on who our first Dev Spotlight project is going to be. I've got two in the running at the moment, so post to the thread if there's a Dev in particular you would like to know more about. And as soon as I have the time to write it up I'll choose our first one.
