I don't really see it happening. As much as I'd like to see some new faces that'd come with a console port, I don't think there would be quite as much of a demand for Champs as you'd have with Neverwinter or Star Trek.
How exactly do you quantify console gamers' knowledge of the D&D franchise to objectively say that "most" of them only know of the movies and have never ever had any experiences with games on the PC, not to mention tabletop gaming?
Speaking of tabletop, I expect that D&D and its dozens of CRPGs are going to be a lot well known and popular compared to the Champions PnP with just one PC MMO game under its belt. NWO was in a much better position to have made the transition to console than CO does.
Because in general most console gamers don't tend to table top and they tend to be more into the JRPGs than the western style RPGs.

There's no realistic way to verify that as fact. You're generalizing.
I also expect that there are certainly console gamers out there who are old enough to remember the older CRPGs like Eye of the Beholder and Baldur's Gate.

Any way you slice it Neverwinter and Star Trek simply have better name recognition than Champions Online. Neverwinter Nights was not THAT long ago. And Star Trek is . . . freaking Star Trek!!!!

10 years is quite some time since Neverwinter Nights. There hasn't been anything relevant about NWN in a very long time, and I don't recall NWN ever being released console side either. While Star Trek has brand recognition as well, we are also talking about people that don't have a lot of high esteem when it comes to Star Trek games, especially considering the average player can probably count on one hand the number of Star Trek games that have ever come out they would remotely consider OK.
Neverwinter is just setting within the D&D franchise. They can make a new game about Icewind Dale, Eberron, the Underdark..whatever, it's still D&D. Everything fundamental about D&D will be present.
D&D has a long history of CRPGs complimenting the tabletop that's been around for decades. They are still releasing new editions of tabletop source books and what not. People were ecstatic when remasters for the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games were officially announced.
Star Trek's is deeply rooted in pop culture and still relevant to this day. There are still Star Trek conventions going on even in 2016. The market appeal of STO has always come off as being directed towards fans of the shows considering the collective lore of the game is based off whatever is found in the shows. That fanbase is massive and that's not even including anyone who find appeal in sci-fi based games.
So yeah, Champions as an IP is nowhere near those levels. I don't see a console version happening. However I have no problems being proven wrong about that.

and secrets of the silver blade, where a level 1 character getting 2 levels drained, would go to level 256... in a different class.

The relevant fact is that Neverwinter Nights and D&D in general on computers is waaaaaay more recognizable than CO. The audience it or Star Trek could get on consoles, is way more than CO could ever hope for. Name the number of games we have had in the last 20 years for CO on computers besides this one. I'll wait.
I remember some Gameboy game where you could select the trash can emblem in the inventory and drag it to itself... thus getting free items.
Final Fantasy Legend 2? I don't even know HOW I remember this, but yeah, you could use the trashcan as an item when your Magi count was at a certain numbers near the end of the game. The two most notable cases were before taking the magi in front of the really big cave with all the good loot and after--the former would let you spam agi boosts on a character of choice, the latter would give you strength boosts. Of course, using it too many times would glitch the game and break your magi count, making the game possibly unwinnable. Oh I put a lot of hours into that game, back in the day. I should probably play the DS version for nostalgia's sake.

Are you sure it didn't roll back to 255? Taking 2 levels away (0, then 256) is larger than is allowed by an unsigned byte--the data type many games back in the day would use for stats because the storage space used by numbers actually mattered back then.
(Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).
