Then you load the ball into a potato gun with UNITY on the side, fire the ball 6 blocks away, the dog looks at you and wonders why you don't want to play fetch.

My dog would chase that ball, get it, come back, and eagerly await the next throw. See, the dog is basically exactly the same as players who complain about stuff taking too long to get ( but then they secretly do it anyways ) with the biggest difference being that the dog doesn't complain and cry trying to get me to shorten the throwing distance the entire time, she just has fun doing the things she does to have fun. Sensible animals those dogs... gamers, sometimes not so much.

No, the dog would either dart forward slightly then look around in confusion when it didn't see the ball in the yard, or go running off and eventually get distracted by something else or give up when it, again, could no longer see its goal. It would then return to you, hoping for another, more easily obtainable ball and a less troublesome chase. Barring special training anyway...

Case in point, many players have given up on Heroics as an actual goal, skipping them for pursuing other gear. I'd say for the most part their acquisition is secondary or supplemental, if purchased at all. Personally I've only 'skipped' them due to farming 10 sets before the changes (i.e. when it was actually worth doing UNITY to get them). Honestly I don't know either way that I'd ever purchase them with SCR. Other stuff competes, for me the devices atm (though the entire time they've been available I haven't yet earned one). If I did want them in the future, I'd probably shortcut with G, to some degree.

It's true a certain % of players will always complain something is too long. The truth for the devs is usually somewhere between the extremes of the diehards trying to shave it down to the minimum and the diehards who put their +1 stamp on everything immediately.

Don't underestimate the determination of hypothetical dogs. A good hunting type breed will find the ball.

Assuming your dog even saw the ball fly out of the potato gun or could see far enough to have a chance of finding it. Move the goal too far and too fast and the dog loses sight of it.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Oh great, we're at the Silly Analogy stage of this discussion. We've come to the point where someone is saying that some people don't have the good sensibilities that a dog has because they have a difference of opinion on what's fun and what's not.

Well I think this thread has the sensibility of corn on the cob. Delicious, but it'll take hours to dislodge it from my teeth. So now I have to close it.
