I’ve run into this problem before with orphaned popup dialogues that show up in the mission but don’t appear on the story tab. The trick is to find them on the dialogue tab and delete them from there.
OK, how's this: The Sol System was on the border of the Alpha and Beta quadrants in the 23rd century when the maps were made. However nothing in space is fixed, and by the early 25th century the rotation of the galaxy had carried the Sol system entirely into the Beta quadrant. Or, you know, make up your own explanation.
Description of the Sulamids from Memory Beta: Aliens I'm glad haven't made it into the game: Whatever the hell that thing was that killed Tasha Yar the first time.
Makai is definitely intended to be KDF, not Starfleet, but yeah, he's head of engineering for the Planetary Rescue Taskforce rather than chief engineer of the KDF flagship. He earned his role by pulling off a number of seemingly impossible engineering projects in the past. Think of him as a Klingon Montgomery Scott - he…
Some more detail on the officers I submitted: Commander Sarau Macx Half Tellarite, half Vulcan, a somewhat unusual cross even in the 26th century. She is the Federation's top theoretical physicist, her unique ability to visualize the 28-dimensional geometry of subspace manifolds makes her an expert on hyperwarp conduits.…
Well, Earth isn't completely helpless in all of this. It's one of the most technologically advanced planets in the Federation, and has the resources of Starfleet Command and the Academy to draw on. Maybe they're able to get a signal back to the Federation - not enough to give precise coordinates but sufficient to give them…
Character ideas: Commander Sarau Macx: The Federation's top theoretical physicist, she's as logical as her Vulcan mother and as stubborn as her Tellarite father. She's been tasked by the Starfleet Science Division with finding a way to return Earth to its proper place in the Solar system. Lt. Commander Makai: A brilliant…
Map transitions aren't working in the editor. You need to load each mission map separately. For whatever reason the map transitions do work after the mission is published, so if you want to test your final product just publish it and run through it, then if necessary withdraw it for further editing.
Well, with a bit of creativity, we might be able to work out a reasonable translation for "Copy Destroyer" based on the vocabulary we have. (source) Disruptor banks destroy things. The Rihannsu word for "disruptor bank" is "iehyakk". Replicators copy things. The Rihannsu word for "replicator" is "khlenai". So, run it…
And because we can't get something without losing something else: Searching for Foundry missions by author wasn't working for me this morning. I was trying to see if all my missions had been republished and so searched on my name and nothing came up, but searching by title worked. Couldn't search by any other author's name…
Yeah, I really struggled with balancing that big battle. I kept going back & forth between "too easy" and "nearly impossible" with little middle ground, so I decided to err on the side of "too easy". Thanks for playing!
Thanks! To make the Tholians attack is just a "reach marker" objective trigger that makes the enemies appear when you get close enough to the place marker.
Hm... Did you try changing the number to 45.6 just to see what would happen? I've dealt with some overzealous profanity filters before (including one that disallowed the word "Saturday") but this is a new one for me. Google turns up nothing.
While building the maps is certainly enjoyable, and playing around in the costume creator is loads of fun, for me it's definitely the story. I'll get a crazy idea and build a story around it, and then try to make that work in the editor. For example, a while back I had this idea floating around in my head for a story where…
Here's an idea: the character's personality is uploaded into a Soong-type android body or something similar, making them effectively immortal. This would handwave away any difference in appearance. A darker alternative - the character was assimilated by the Borg, and was only recently liberated. Years as a drone have…
Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to just tone it down a little. There were already friendly NPCs in the fight - the whole idea was to have a big ground battle with the player leading the charge. I'm going to test it a few dozen times to see what happens now.
Congrats to XR-377 for a well-deserved win. I always enjoy the kind of mind-bending story that he came up with. And that effect when we were in the temporal distortion was cool - did you put us inside a planet to do that? Bonus points for the reference to the classical Atlas legend.
I wonder if this was a necessary component of bringing the Top Three system back up. If so, great, but a little communication about it would have been a nice thing to have.
Just a suggestion - you might want to put up an invisible wall to make sure that players can't jump down. Because otherwise somebody will, and they'll get stuck, and they'll blame you.
Sisko, all the way. Willing to get his hands dirty when the job called for it. Garak, on the other hand, was willing to keep his hands clean when the job called for it. Subtle distinction, but noteworthy, I think.
First contact is always more interesting when what is completely normal for one side is bizarre and/or offensive to the other. Just as an example, suppose one side considers eating food in front of other people obscene. That would make a diplomatic dinner party problematic. As for first contact missions, my "Paying the…
What, we're five pages in and nobody has mentioned Lwaxana Troi yet? :D Seriously though, I could easily cast a vote for Mirror Odo. He was one sadistic TRIBBLE. But I won't, because Kai Winn was worse.
I suppose I play it. Once in a while I tweak my uniform in the editor, but my crew pretty much wears standard Odyssey. In the Foundry costume editor, on the other hand, I make lots of models. And for the major characters I tweak every last detail, even for things it's likely nobody but me will ever notice.
