Beside the fact that without TOS there would be none of the later series or STO, a lot of the planets, factions, races and technologies are from TOS TNG contributed additional races and planets plus most current ship designs, newer tech and THE BORG. DS9 and Voyager supplied the rest.

Finally gathered my wits and tried the play STO again. Rebooted computer, then logged in Exact same thing happened as before. I think it's a curse or a poltergeist LOL

I still can't get in. First the launcher would hang at the version number. Now the launcher won't even start, I get a window that says "A file was locked that could not be opened for writing"

I get as far as the version number in the lower left of the loader screen then it hangs. Tried closing and restarting loader, same result.

ERROR 36 I got it resolved. I just closed the loader and reopened it, the patch installed properly. No Avast! A/V problems either.

Problem resolved itself. I closed the loader and reopened it. The patch downloaded and installed properly. No Avast! A/V problems either.
