Same boat here, I'm going to miss it by 50 points. I've been in and out of the hospital for the last few months, not exactly really able to run dailies when there :/

No, the two characters I was doing it as didn't even exist last year. I did finally get a response from support. They just said the event is over, thank you for playing. Nevermind the fact I opened the ticket while the event was live...

Looks like no one figured out what this bug was for us, no reply from support yet even though I opened the ticket last week and the event ends today. From discussing with other people in my fleet I wasn't the only one that had this issue.

I am unable to start the mission either. He simply won't give me the mission dialog box. This is the case on all of my federation characters, even the ones that haven't run the mission in the past.

I really wish I had less negative sounding words to say here, but I feel lied to, betrayed. Repeatedly on the forums here we were reassured that dilithium would still be an end mission reward from STFs and you u-turn at the last possible minute to stab us all in the back. Apparently it was nothing but a lie.
