You will not see a conversion of your leftover STF items (EDC, Rare Salvage/Tech, Proto Salvage/Tech) UNTIL you reach T5 of the reputation system. Honestly, the drop rate for the crystals is random. Yesterday I opened about 10 boxes (:eek:) on an alt character and maybe averaged 4? One box could have two, four, one, or maybe six if you're lucky. Think of it as trying to get STF tech, but the odds are better :P
