  • The main problem with carriers seem to be that Cryptic can't go a month without breaking one type of pets. For example, the Callistos came out bugged and stayed bugged for 7-9 months, then they were fixed for a month until the balance pass broke them in a different way (now they don't ever face their targets, so they…
  • It's made to waste your time. Remember this is a 2009 MMO, it has 2009 design (un)ethics.
  • Carriers are by far the archetype with the fewest associated ship traits (and the ones we do have are all trash, or at best borderline-slottable like the Alita's) so I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a proper carrier-centric ship trait with this thing. In fact, given the disparity in available, not to speak of…
  • Carriers are a science class of ship. Engineers have flight deck cruisers and dreadnoughts, and tacs have HECs. Even alien factions more or less follow that doctrine. And it makes sense to have the class that is supposed to support vessels have the real carriers, as sending out 12 fighters to "meat grind" with rather than…
  • I'm a set-and-forget type, though I did get some skin-tight garment in a promotion once for one of my characters (looks Temporal? Can't remember, it's got like horizontal lines) and I did buy the Section 31 uniform pack ages ago for my other characters.
  • Which is why Terran faction shouldn't exist. We're not talking "friendly" sexual themes with the Terrans. It is kind of pointless doing things you can't do right. The Terrans are one of those things that are better the less you know about it.
  • It would be fun, but what age rating does STO have? A playable Terran faction would mean for sure the game would need a mature rating. There's simply no avoiding dark to pitch black themes, when playing as a Terran.
  • Well there's the excuse that the original Norway model files were lost or corrupted. Of course, it's a bad excuse. It can easily and quickly be reproduced faithfully in this game. But for some reason CBS won't allow it, even if a different Star Trek video game made Norway models in the past.
  • Except that's anti-canonical, Defiant had a deflector dish the size of a teacup, bunk beds for crew "quarters", a 4-man sickbay and a structural integrity generator on drip-feed, precisely so its normal-sized warp core could output all it had into making its weapons hit harder and engines push more force than any other…
  • Well I'm talking about internal balance among cannons, let's not break the external balance towards beams even further by raising DHC power past the superior beams.
  • Having seen that trailer I feel all warm and fuzzy and proud that I have never given a single buck to Netflix and now I have a new reason for continuing that principle. More JJ lens trek, with the added insult of trying to insinuate it into the prime timeline. I'll forget about (read: repress) it tomorrow.
  • Yes please, Anarchy Online has better ground combat and that came out in 2001.
  • Tier 3 is where you get most of the good stuff anyway. Pick a set you like from the tier 3 options then try to get that one to T5 more than the others. (I did this with Nukara but somehow got Omega maxed almost at the same time) If you don't know how to advance to the next tier (Reputation level) you have to click the…
  • I don't know about the ones you mentioned, but my Pathfinder's Aero shuttle has literally never died (no exaggeration) I only got it two weeks ago though, so who knows
  • Ground gameplay is the weakest part of this game, and the Kobali zone is THE worst among them. I can't do anything but sign this.
  • According to the STF UI, Tholian Alert and Borg Alert do not give temporal marks. Also, 30K dilithium is like 100 Zen. Less than a dollar. For perspective, I snorted two elite callistos from the fleet shop last week for 88k Dil and now they're useless. At which point I just stopped using my Jupiter. I haven't heard of that…
  • The second I got it, I stuck it on my Tholian Widow Fighter, ran atmosphere assault twice (so around 8 hours of sitting in the queue) and moved on. It's alright, but as a science character with heavy EPG invest, I'm more than a little cheesed with the radiation. It's serviceable on a shuttle level however. Depth charge is…
  • Callistos seem bugged, from the balancing they should by all accounts have gotten better, but they've gotten a lot worse. Seems they only point their noses at the target 10% of the time, and their DPS has plummeted to oblivion. I guess all frigates with cannons should be equally bugged right now.
  • I had to make the same choice a week ago, and landed on the Narcine. Can't say I've regretted it. Since I already have several T6 ships, I just wanted to pick something that'd still be fun to build something interesting with, and the Narcine had the most potential for me.
  • I stay lore-friendly with my names but with a bias towards Norwegian history, mostly as a protest against the lack of the Norway class (the only canon Federation ship class missing at this point I believe) in STO Various notable towns/ places in Norway:* USS Narvik (site of Hitler's first land battle loss of WW2, and the…
  • Came back to see the state of things recently, have been playing for 2 weeks after having quit for about 3 years. Every step of the way the past 2 weeks I have been gradually becoming more disgusted with this company's business practices, especially their whale-hunting cash shop and having been slapped with a week-long…
  • So is it a rule in this community that we must congratulate eachother on literally useless things nobody wants? Are Cryptic our grandmother, having knitted wool socks and we must pretend to like it because it's christmas? Please let me know as I'd hate to commit a faux pas by declaring what I really think of this "event".
  • No the Pilot escorts have like 2800 less hull than both Tactical and Intelligence escorts once upgraded to fleet.
  • I enjoyed the one run I had so far. I must admit I wasn't any help in the chambers, mostly because there didn't seem to be any visual cues, text, audio or anything to indicate what to do. But once I got into the core and got to attack actual PLAYERS for once I decided this was the best queue ever. Got to smash a Jupiter…
  • Wrong, I paid in my own named card just yesterday, have an account from 2010 with established purchase history, and got shafted. I can only encourage people hit by this to complain to Valve, as they take it very seriously when a company intentionally discriminates against people for using their payment system.
  • Wow I was gone for 3 years and no Norway yet. What. At least do a high-tier Oslo refit, if CBS won't let you invent a Norway model.
  • What this game needs an injection of ASAP is. HARD. group. content. That said, single player content is important too, and I agree that single player content where you don't have the full capabilities of your ship are asinine wastes of time. Except The Vault, which was kind of fun (once) But what we absolutely do NOT ever…
  • This game has great PvE? This game has PvE so easy that my little sister would master it faster than she mastered Farmville. It is an utter face roll. The content has potential, but is just too easy every step of the way. I'm pretty sure a gibbon could learn to play STO in under 45 minutes.
  • 1) TOS is not a legally binding contract, and any courts outside the US (which is biased in favour of corporations 9 times out of 10, nor do they have a consumer protection agency apart from the pitiful BBB) dismiss any attempts to reference TOS in cases pertaining to software. 2) In the event of a company behaving…
