Well, as it can't be done, I guess I'll just have to wait until Cryptic decide to change the tools for the better, with actual 3D object in-world placement and manauverability, and maps that can be attached to dialog branches. Thanks for everone's help.
Earlier, I started the launcher played a few missions, then quit, the launcher re-opened and patched 5GB, but, before that I checked the STO folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Perfect World Entertainment\Star Trek Online_en), and it was 42.2GB, then later I started the lancher again, played a few missions, and so on, and just…
I have on-demand patching disabled, so that all content is downloaded, but since the last shard update, everytime I quit the launcher it closes, then re-opens itself, and starts patching 5GB, then closes on its own. It never did that before. I did notice the last number on the last shard update was .36 but when the…
I looked at every map I created and there isn't anywhere in map properties that has 'triggers', the only buttons present are "General", and "backdrop" I created a snapshot of one of the map properties, but I can't see in here where to attach it, so instead I created a screen video of my foundry process:-…
All these 'Shard Updates' with fixes to 'Foundry missions' etc etc with no mention to when and if the foundry editing tools will ever be available. I know they're available at the Tribble server but not in Holodeck
Authors are the people that create the foundry missions, so how can authors have time to test them if they can't gain access to them in the first place?
Most of the big ones?, Not quite yet, I don't see any mention to when the foundry is coming back online, and that is (to me) one of the biggest, because I can't test new weapons ship or ground unless I create a foundry mission to play using Timid NPC's to test my weapons without being blown to bits within seconds.
There is no other mission shown. I just now tried the entire 'Wasteland' episode again, and when I get to 'Go to installation 18', I go there and there's nothing to do.
After continuing the 'Wasteland' episode, mission 'Goto Installation 18', I did after fighting of a worm, I get to installation 18, and there's nothing to do to there, I walked a complete 360 around the installation, and nothing, no shimmering entrance, no pop up, but the mini map shows I'm at the right place. I have even…
I've given up with the LoR patching, so now when I exit the launcher and it starts "attempting" (yes I said attempting) to patch, I just close out the launcher, I can still play sto normally, but until the Devs put up the entire LoR patch as an installable exe file in .torrent format, I'll just keep playing as normal and…
Unless there's a button on the launcher/client that specifically says "TRIBBLE UPDATES" no-one in their right mind will know what the hell you're talking about, I don't, I just opened the STO website, signed up for an account, and downloaded the client, and that's IT!., the same procedures that anyone else would do. The…
This only just started to happen yesterday. As I don't want the client to constantly download patches every time I enter a new system, U checked the box in the client options, (before login) to disable on-demand patching, which downloaded a total of 9.8GB, so now, when I enter a system to complete a mission, I don't see…
I don't know where all this info comes from, but there is NO option to use the subspace relay, no shimmering console, no pop up options, just nothing, which tells me there's a serious bug in the mission, that needs to be fixed. After talking to (someone) I get told there's a subspace relay in the court yard, so I go to it…
I had a look at the UGC "long" video, it's not bad, I managed to create a simple "test" mission, but it's just what it is, a "test", until the next video comes out, I can't go further. But, I still say the UI is inferior as apposed to a lot of "configurable" gaming systems I've seen, for instance, the 2D map could have a…
So you're saying you can create games such as WoW, Doom 3D, Need for Speed etc etc , with just notepad? No disrespect, but, whatever pills you're taking, I'd like some lol. That's why developers/designers use programs like Wings 3D, Blender, and other 3D object creation tools, if STO was written using notepad, I hate to…
Precisely, more modern computers, not just high-end gaming systems, have excellent GFX systems, and are more than capable of handling 3D environments, mine, is just a store bought HP with a quad core APU (not to be confused with a CPU), with inbuilt 1GB GFX, on the processor, and 8GB RAM, and along with Direct-X, it can…
To sway a little off topic, but indirectly related to the subject. I run a home server using software based on an opensource 3D virtual world system (called "opensim"), which in turn is connected to a central system, to which other people running the same software connects each other to it, and using a client (similar to…
The problem I see with that, is the holodeck does not show it's area, only a dot on the map, knowing where to place objects, would be purely guess work,,, place an object, play map, look at it, too far?, too close?, return to editor, move the object, play map again, check object, and repeat til satisfied of the placement…
Ok, I found it, but I had to adjust the Y axis to 4m. I got the console to fade out and an npc to fade in when the console fades out, when activated, but I still can't figure out how to get a scenery to fade in, and replace the holodeck, then when that selection is complete, the scenery would fade out, and the holodeck…
One is the way a green holodeck is created with a console in the middle, then when that console is activated, the console fades out, and the scenery fades in. the console could have a list of holodeck simulation based scenes, and when one is finished, the scenery chosen would fade out to the green holodeck, and ready to…
I found that with any dialog or interact with contact or object in a story, would end the mission when it reaches the checkered flag, but that still leaves the ship in space ready to manually click the wormhole at the top right of the game window to exit the map, what I was looking for is an automatic way to warp out of…
Thanks for trying it out, it's my very first attempt to create a mission with a small storyline. It's called 'Stop Klingon Invasion', if it can't be found normally, the ID is:- ST-HPNJCXKGV
Do you realize how many missions that require reviews?, I checked, and there's to many to count. Nobody knows if a new foundry mission has been published, because there are no system messages to show it. The only message(s) that get sent in-game, is to the author of the mission to say it was published. What should happen…
Same here, I guess it's time to move on and play something else other than STO. If Linden Lab for Secondlife (a 3D virtual world system that's a very close similarity to STO, but user created content) can have simultaneous online users of more than 50,000 WITHOUT a login queue, and server lag of about 0.6% (most high lag…
wow, now I know it's time to move on, and play something else other than STO. First, I get "Disconnected from game server: Timeout" loads of times, then I get "Can not get map names from map manager" (too many times to count) and have to replay missions because of it, and now, they put in a login queue, and removed foundry…
Has anyone heard of SecondLife?, it's a 3D virtual world, that is a very close similarity to STO, and yet there is NO login queue and their servers currently (at the time of writing this post) have 58,336 user online simultaneously, and I have seen even higher numbers up into to 5 figures depending on the time of day and…
Same here, it's been an on going bug for over a year, IMO, if they can't fix it, then the server should be shut down, until it's fixed. I can't even get to sector space anymore, because of "Could not get map names from map manager". I Enjoy this game, but if there's going to be constant bugs and game server disconnects…
