Augh, they're all really cool, and I want all of them! However, Alpha seems a bit too aggressive, and Echo seems a bit too intricate for what basically amounts to babby's first starship. So I'm going to have to go with Team Charlie on this one for lore reasons. Also, Tom Paris is advising on it, and I think he's be all for…
Thanks. For the record, I'm looking at the Maelstrom, not the Tempest. As an aside, I recently got some money, so I'm considering getting the Eclipse Intel ship in order to unlock its trait. Two questions. One, is the trait worth it? And two, how does the Eclipse handle and shoot in comparison to the T5 escorts? (As for…
Well, since it turns out I'm a terrible pilot, it seems that rear beam arrays deal more damage for me than turrets. So I've updated my build. Now I just need to decide which ability, if any, to sac for Beam Overload/Fire At Will, if any. http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/?build=ussbellerophondmkv_0 As an aside,…
Another question. For my science officer skills, is it better to have Polarize Hull I and Transfer Shield Strength II, or TSS1 and Tractor Beam Repulsors?
Noted, thanks. Interesting, thanks for the tips. Done. As an aside, I'm considering replacing the shields and engines with the Dyson versions in order to get that Proton Barrage ability. What so y'all think of this?
Okay, here's what I have so far: http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=ussbellerophond1_0 I wanted to put the Tetryon Glider ability in there somehow, or the Proton Barrage ability, but I just couldn't fit the necessary parts in. I do intend to do some dps testing asap, however. I intend to test replacing a copy of…
As an aside, I have to wonder ... would there be a net benefit to using an omni-phaser in back, as well as a regular phaser array? The omni-phaser has the same coverage as a turret, and more damage, and the phaser array flat-out does more damage, even if the arc is more limited. This might be worth experimenting on. EDIT:…
On the matter of the cloak, I'm ... not entirely sold on it. I already have the Warp Burst Capacitor from a previous purchase, so I can warp in, get a damage buff, and be untargetable for five seconds. How does the cloak compare? As for omni-beams ... yeah, I guess I would have to go with antiproton damage, unless I wanted…
You know, that raises an interesting question. Do worlds that join the Federation just keep their own ships, and then also join aboard Starfleet vessels? Do their ships become a part of Starfleet's ships, taking on Federation crews, or do they stay crewed primarily by their creators? I see. I might raise up the Dilithium…
Very interesting, thanks. The only thing I really have to say is I'm not particularly interested in cross-faction ships, save possibly the Caitian ship, for roleplay reasons, but all very good information, thanks. EDIT: Also, not gonna lie, if I didn't value roleplaying to an almost unhealthy degree, I'd probably be all…
So, what I'm understanding at the moment is that the Akira has less tac consoles, but a hanger bay; the Defiant has good consoles and overall damage, but is let down by its boff seating; and the ugly one has good boff seating and good consoles, plus a tail gun for pooping damage on the enemy after a strafing run. And the…
Someone suggested the Avenger Battle Cruiser. I'd like people's opinions on it, is it possible to run one of those and keep those front dual cannons trained on the enemy?
Ah, I see. That's interesting, thanks. I understand your angle, and I do appreciate what you're trying to do. And maybe, if I ever get the money to do so, I might get one. But for now, I cannot afford it, so suggesting I get the Phantom is not very helpful. Ah, I see, it's B-Off seating. Thanks. Remember, I don't have the…
You're doing that acronym thing again. ;P At least I know what TT1 is though. And yeah, the triple tac actually isn't bad for me, since I plan to run the Experimental Proton Weapon, so I can apply beam powers to it as well as cannon powers.
I'm considering a fleet Akira because I only need EC to get the modules off the exchange, and other than that I only need fleet credits. Plus, yes, I kinda do want a canon ship, thank you very much. Now, I'd ask you to either offer advice that's actually useful to me, as a person with access to maybe a couple hundred Zen…
I see. Why do you suggest those over the Fleet Tactical Escort Refit? I don't have the money for the phantom intel escort, so which of the other two would you suggest?
Wait, do the bio-phasers have different colors and sounds to regular phasers? And actually, the escort carrier is, for all practical purposes, an escort. It has the same turn rate as the Fleet Advanced Escort.
Ah, okay, sense makes. Oh no no no, I'm not talking about the cruiser yet, I'm sticking with the escort carrier for now. I thought about that. The Isokinetic Cannon is really tempting. But the fact that the current torps create a miniature gravity well is just too neat. Could I get the three-piece set by using three…
I am aware of the actual retro phasers. However, there are no retro phaser cannons, which ... makes sense, frankly, though I would like to see some. Hence, tetryon weapons. Okay, this is very interesting, I'll have to keep this in mind. If I do get the fleet consoles, then I'll probably acquire one of each, to spread my…
Well, cannons have a 180 degree arc. And if I'm not going to be able to turn well enough to keep my broadside to the enemy, then beam arrays seem somewhat pointless. Though I have to wonder if, since the base damage of cannons is less than double that of turrets, turrets all around might not be the better option.
Well, mostly I'm looking for an experienced person to confirm that I'm not a bloody idiot. I also intend to use the Solonae shield for screenshots. :P For the Commander Seat: I actually purchased an extra pair of bridge officer slots so that I could have both, one on standby and one on duty so I can switch between them as…
