I had the same problem on my vesta. Had to do the whole first mission fighting with just my ships rear weapons. Couldn't find a way to fix it so had to dismiss ship and reclaim and rebuild. This was before I got an upgrade to the ship so it wasn't that. Of course in bad starts chipping away at trying upgrade the cannons so…

Yes. There's the standard 4 materials, and main hull, secondary hull, nacelles and pylons are all interchangeable. The MACO shield skin looks nice on it too .
