I think LTS is a great system if A) You really, really, really like this game and B) Plan on a bunch of alts. Its really personal preference. I regret it because had I not done it, i would've saved loads of money and anger, but the past is the past and without the Tardis or and temporal rift, it is what it is.
Consider you only get 500 zen per month (if its workin properly). Its up to you but I wouldn't do it again. I've been an LTSer since launch and If i could do it over again, I wouldn't.
For: You get Vet Rewards, some cosmetic options and the borg race option. Against: The rewards are kinda meh for the price you pay. Most of the bonuses are only "worth it" with multiple alts. But in an alt-unfriendly game, its hardly worth it. I'd recommend sticking F2P, with maybe 3 characters (1 for each faction) and…
In addition to bonus rewards available for spotlight missions, add bonus rewards to those you get in the proposed new system where they might pop up randomly or through being in the area the mission starts in.
I wasn't accusing you of that, I meant since the reason some ships shouldn't "fit" is due to the door not being big enough, then naturally Starfleet would probably make them larger. Even though ships sizes have increased fairly dramatically in the 150+ years between Search for Spock and STO, it seems weird Starfleet hasn't…
You get double the dilithium for the first spotlight mission you play. I was referring to instead of just double the normal rewards, why not add custom reward amounts to certain foundry missions? IE, develop along with other foundry improvements, a method for devs to quickly add a custom reward to missions.
I completely agree on the first part, but it sounded based on his phrasing as if it was already planned and considering how long it takes Cryptic to make things, for it to be put here it would need to have been in development already I would think.
As far as a blanket auto-reward system, absolutely. However, why not manually attach certain rewards to spotlight missions? Non spotlights get auto-rewards (smaller but still some reward) while spotlighted missions get better ones.
As in, you can turn on an option that allows it. IE, got to the foundry menu on a character and turn on a random mission box that will hail you for one if you are in the area of it. Clearly not as a trick. I should have been more specific.
The allied system for sure would take longer but I don't think the donation box should be too complex given how quickly they churn out lockboxes, which contain new boxes, item boxes, etc
If this was implemented, it would greatly increase the ease of finding missions. I'd also like to see random foundry missions pop up in exploration clusters.
As far mission finding interface goes, i would recommend you see the UI proposal I linked to. Its ingenious in the way it integrates the foundry to not only be grabbable from the menu area but also in orbit of the planets it starts at. The creation interface isn't all that bad once you've used it enough. My biggest hurdle…
Instead of missions for burning marks into credits, how about creating a donation or alliance mission? Essentially offer a mission that for X Marks will create a X Mark Donation Box. Each box can be given to any other fleet. 1) Donate to a random fleet will earn a X% increase in the credits earned. 2) Donating to another…
I would argue part of the reason few people use the foundry is how poorly implemented it is. Poor rewards and cumbersome menus are a serious issue. A new reputation system with good rewards would bring people to it. Plus, its not like the whole thing would be foundry based. Just that it would be a major part. Make a…
See, I think it would be super awesome if they themed a season around major foundry improvements. - New UI Preferably close to this proposal from the Art section http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=943411 -New Foundry features Not only for mission building, but finally the interior building we've been…
Fair point. I did think that was a smart way to quickly switch it since they couldn't do the big epic battle thing. (Though I'd have preferred an epic KDF-FED event where their main hubs are destroyed and J'mpok or Quinn are revealed as Undine)
I wouldn't be surprised if they show a random sampling at first and over time show off new uniforms added to the game. For example, if this had existed when the jackets were introduced, each mannequin would probably have shown them off.
A big part of the reason I don't play often is that its usually a choice between story and rewards. If the foundry was boosted, it would provide a perfect gameplay experience for me.
I may be in the minority, but I like it. I wish the timer was a tad shorter, but overall I wish it was a permanent addition. :D As for the foundry idea, I would love that. I would really like it if they did a similar rep project with the foundry missions.
This actually would be good for Cryptic, after all, it would encourage a second purchase of at least the Galaxy and possible the Bundle. Plus, it adds more variety to the Nebula. Seems like a win-win to me.
I totally get that. But its not like the ships couldn't fit inside the dome. The barrier was the doors being to small, so "retrofit" the doors to be wider. It would look basically the same while logically allowing larger ships. Win-win
Hey Tacofangs, I am curious, if the size of the doors is such a problem, why not just "retrofit" them to be wider? I would assume post Q reverting ESD, they would have had to in order to get the ships in. I realize this would take more time but a possible future addition? [As a side note, while I didn't think it was…
