  • That is true, printing does have it's uses, and some things it does very well. But when you're talking about mass producing something, it simply doesn't work. Take a model of the Enterprise. In order to get a good print, you're gonna want to cut the object up into at least 4 pieces (because orientation matters, overhangs…
  • Not too surprising. Consumer level 3d printing is still a very new and volatile area of business. Most companies that start up, whether they be printer manufacturers or companies offering printing services, just don't last because they always seem to underestimate the cost involved and get in way over their heads. I know…
  • That "tree ring" pattern is just something that comes with the territory of printing. The only way around it is to print at ultra high quality, 0.1mm layer height or lower (which as said before, vastly increases the print time, which in turn would drive the prices through the roof), or print in a material like ABS that…
  • That's par for the course when it comes to printing. With FFF printers (the most common type, a.k.a. filament printers) the only way to increase the detail would be to increase the scale of the models, or use a very low layer height with a super small nozzle (which would make the price skyrocket due to the increased print…
  • I worked in the 3d printing field for a year (co-owned a company), and I can say with some confidence that this may never actually happen. Aside from the licensing issues (very costly), it just isn't feasible to mass produce things via printing due to the cost and time involved. It makes much more sense to mold and cast…
  • Not ashamed to admit that I play exclusively female characters and have for over 10 years. The last male I made in a game (where I had a choice) was my dervish in Guild Wars. Why? One simple reason. You spend 99% of the time looking at your character's backside, and I don't want to spend all that time looking at hairy man…
  • Just more power creep, everyone is chasing big numbers
  • Well yeah, one last push for people to open their wallets LOL.
  • Sadly this is the direction almost all gaming forums have gone over the past, oh, 10 years now I guess. I literally can't remember a time when forums weren't full of people complaining about every little thing they don't like, across practically every game I've played or followed over the last decade. Some are bad, some…
  • It's actually in the "Items" section of the store. I think that's correct, I'm not at the PC right now.
  • Most other game engines are also FAR better optimized, which means they run better with less resources used.
  • Same here. I've filled out a report in the window that pops up a couple times. It happens to me when I try to delete multiple emails at once.
  • Size yes, speed no. I've gotten over 10 monstrous fish in one event with the advanced glove.
  • Happened a lot yesterday on the PC side too. A bunch of us in our fleet had the same issue.
  • Similar problem on my newest character. Level 1-60, never once wore a kit because she can't equip them. Yes, that's a lot of map changes with every episode completed.
  • Whatever I'm in the mood for when I make a character. My captains are 1 Vulcan, 1 Trill, 1 Romulan, 1 Klingon, 2 Aliens, 1 Reman. Boffs I'm not too picky about.
  • I know one person who got a gold after 150 boxes, and someone else who didn't get one until 950 boxes. I opened 70 myself and didn't get anything over very rare.
  • 4 year player here but I've never been around for the events. I've wanted a way to get the old ships for a really long time and was super excited when I heard about this. Sadly I spent all my dil on boxes before seeing what the drop rates were. Totally my fault. Instantly regretted it, I effectively set myself back months…
  • Still nothing about characters who cannot equip kits
  • The main shortcoming is everything being character bound. I'm a horrible altoholic that actually has difficulty deciding which character to play. Add to the fact that I don't have any of these event ships, and a relatively small pool of dilithium, and you have someone who's extremely excited for these boxes but very sad as…
  • There's a program out there that'll basically automate it for you. Just do some Google Fu and you'll find it (YouTube will help). It'll let you bind multiple functions to one key, for example I have spacebar set to cast a full tray plus fire all weapons.
  • I looked at it today. Basically install and play all the other games (every day for X days) that Arc has available.
  • Apparently the maintenance was announced, but only on Facebook and the Arc launcher. Not in-game, not on the game launcher, and nothing on the forum lol.
  • No sense in blaming them, games go down. It's a thing. It happens.
  • It doesn't :( Yeah I never saw anything about a maintenance. Nothing in-game for the hour or so I was on this morning, and nothing on the launcher.
  • I think something is going on with the servers. I was just in trying to mail stuff to myself, got one mail out, and then it did nothing over and over. I looked around, usually when I'm about to get dc'd all the players and npc's stop moving, but that wasn't the case this time. Tried to relog and it just timed out over and…
  • No, because it would be too difficult to implement (balance and stuff), and they'd have to remove the ability for players to buy top end gear and ships with real money or 99% of the player base will start screaming P2W (because it will be). Plus the gear/damage gap in this game is absolutely enormous, it would practically…
  • Nukara is the only problem place I've found so far. The lighting and bloom is so blown out of proportion there I can't see anything but white. Funny that it crashes your drivers. Prior to the lighting update I was stuck running the game in DX9 because not doing so would crash my drivers (across multiple systems, AMD and…
  • Imagine the sticker shock for people like me who have been away from the game a while. It's 4x higher than the last time I played, and don't get me started on the ludicrousness that is the EC exchange these days. Holy TRIBBLE Batman. It's REALLY hard for people who don't live in the game to get anywhere now.
  • It could be one of those filters that goes out of it's way to find profanity where none actually exists. I've seen it in a few games. It doesn't seem to be in place in the game itself, but that doesn't mean it isn't in use with the ticket reporting. Basically the way it works is by combining words, and thus creates…
