Thats indeed some news I didn't expect to hear ... I stand down corrected. Good the Mac users get their atention. Personally I am not a Mac user, but another Linux user, and I wonder now that a Mac version is on the way, whether there will be a cross compiled version for the major Linux Distros as well (that step shouldn't…
I booted my Win7 Install in March, and I am quite happy with the situation. So getting this info as soon as possible, to set up a bottle for testing would just be wonderful.
Every time I read about ARC I flinch away from it. I am running STO on Linux (Mint15 with Cross Over and WINE underneath it) which leaves me pretty much in the same boat as the mac users. Has anybody thought about us? Is anybody at PWE looking into the problem? How will things change for us and will we get the appropriate…
I did pretty much the same like you are planning some months. I have completely dumped my Windows7 install in favor of a Linux Mint Box. I am running it on a Toshiba Satellite L750 with an i5 CPU an NVidia 525M and 8GB of Ram. I run STO through Crossover which works half way decent. The main problem I have is massive…
I am trying to understand what you are heading for. I guess you are aiming at some realm concept or something similar like the battle.net employs it. So if that it the case I think its pretty much too late now. People have evolved a lot (been here since Beta) made international contacts and so on. Putting realm in place…
I am running the game on a Linux Mint 15 with Crossover. While it wouldn't have been necessary it makes the install rather easy, which was important for me, being a total beginner and guides on the internet on this matter only leading nowhere. The result is ok, but could be better (I have the same degradation issues), so I…
Since I am running STO on a Linux machine I will have a hard time getting this to run (well not without some decent sledgehammer work anyways). Granted we might not be many, but you should not make this mandatory for everyone .... it will just TRIBBLE your Linux and Mac users in the knee. Let us simply continue to log in…
Well the original idea was lent from Unreal and FPS games in general. If I remember my old UT:GOTY days right such anti camping system worked on the basis of a char moving or not. While this works nice for an FPS it won't work for a park and shoot approach of a carrier commander. The problem with all those system like kick…
That would only be half the truth. I would have to play at least with them once so that I know they have been a bad experience to play with. And if I remember correctly, I have rarely encountered the same person twice when I pugged. I liked kyetos addition to the system to rate the player as good, bad or neutral, which…
While this might be suitable for FPS games, I doubt it will work here. Some of the carrier players tend to park their ships in the lanes of the enemy and then fire away and command their pets around without moving much themselves until the current task is finished and they have to sit in another lane. I think there is no…
Hmmmm then the ship used to have that config and you changed it (Maybe when you got it). But that would mean that the intervals for updating could be far larger then I thought ... or maybe they are only triggered by changes in the ship configuration. Any hints on this from the gateway subforum?
It does look that way because you configured it that way in the shiptailor. What you are seeing is the real shipskin without the overlay of the KHG shielding. It takes some time for the gateway to recognize changes. Activate the visual overlay of the shield and wait. It should be updated in the gateway in up to 48 hours.
I am not entirely sure but switching your Launcher to English should do, when you open the Gateway from there. I am German, but have never played the game in german, since the bugs in the translation of the early daysfreaked the TRIBBLE out of me, apart from the fact that Star Trek is best consumed in english, but this is…
Speed is not the problem here ... its latency. My wife and I are both playing STO. We usually run 2 Client Sessions of STO, 2 Sessions of TS3 and a CD quality Webradio Stream through a 1Mbit Upstream and 6 Mbit Downstream DSL Line and we have no issues at all. One of your problems might indeed be cognet (the sloppiest…
As much as I would love to discuss that and other questions regarding your post (as I think you have as well valid and invalid statements there), I do not think that it will much clarify whether the 10% rule is still a legit way of going through ISE or not. So if you want to further discuss this matter meet me in PM.
wrote the one that said: Being a german that understands and speaks english, I find this post very amusing. There are far more germans that understand you then you think ;) Using the 10% rule has never been wrong, and will be a viable way to go as long as ISE is not rearranged in some way. Even a high DPS group can make…
