The next step of our 2024 Event Campaign is coming to PC, with an event dedicated to the flagships of Star Trek Online. From August 22nd at 8am PT to September 12th at 10am PT, you’ll have the chance to participate in four different Task Force Operations – all of them in space – to progress towards both this year’s Event Campaign Grand Prize and the new Khitomer Defender Space Set.
The TFOs that will be a part of this event are:
Borg: Disconnected (Space)
Iuppiter Irratus (Space)
Swarm (Space)
Synth Wave (Space)
Upon completing 14 days of progress on the Flagship Celebration Event, you’ll unlock the Khitomer Defender Space Set. This three-piece Space Set includes a shield, deflector, and engines.

We've had a few shields of course, but not so many deflectors and engines. I hope they'll be reclaimable on low level toons, as that's where they are very, if not the most useful, in my opinion.
I hope so.
Been a while since we've had new deflector and engine visuals. I think the last time was when one of the last reputations was added?
The set reward doesn't look that interesting beyond the Deflector's CritH and AP boosts,as well as the three-set cloak sphere that does damage, all depending on numbers. Shields still get drained and bypassed so often that unless the shield boosts are insanely high amounts, those shield buffs won't really matter.
ugh. not sure any of those tfos are gonna be fun to do for 14 days.
I will probably do Swarm mostly, and Borg: Disconnected for a bit of variety. Iuppiter Irratus and Synth Wave are too unrealistic and grindy, not to mention the music in Synth Wave is incredibly annoying on top of it in that TFO.
The bit that stumps me though, is that for Flagship Celebrations, Swarm is the only TFO that heavily features the Flagship, if only through the communication from Odo.
Borg: Disconnected has an Odyssey class in it, but doesn't feature the Flagship (Correction - it's in Hive Onslaught)
Iuppiter Irratus at least has the Enterprise there, but for all of 7 or 8 seconds?
Synth Wave has no Flagships present at all.
Azure Nebula Rescue at least has the R.R.W. Lleiset present and would be an ideal candidate for inclusion in this event, but for whatever reason, it is quite absent.
Perhaps we need to have a look over the currently removed TFO's to see how they could be updated a little to include the U.S.S. Enterprise or the I.K.S. Bortasqu' as 'host' starships?
I know there is one (the Houston) in Hive Onslaught, but I've never seen it in BD.
Ah, yes - I may have muddled them...
For the most part these TFOs have us leading the charge. Not only that, all four are more defensive operations rather than offensive.

The space set doesn't look particularly useful, although the team cloak and Antiproton damage field are new(ish) features.
Maybe in the future i want to build characters which nerf themself from the start.
Well... it might not be able to compete with some other sets we got, but it would synergize with an Antiproton build, and like the previous event set can be claimed and used on brand new characters. So to me that's kinda worth it to have another option besides the Revolutionary set. Although it doesn't have a warp core to go with it. Still options are options.

I may have worded it rather harshly, but this set is very niche.
The team cloak is somewhat implemented with the Organic Nebula and the AP damage field reminds me, among others, of the new Hirogen console but with a different damage type.
The set is just so far of the center that many people will find it too difficult to use effectively.
Options are options, but i am not convinced this set has any real bonuses over e.g. the old aegis set or sol defense set.
Edit: i love niche builds, but it is also honest to say this set may be too far of any beaten path.
I am gonna try it on an AP build to see how it works. The big advantage I see from this set is being able to put your preferred Warp Core on. So for me that would be the Kobali Core.

There simply seems to be nothing compelling enough about the set to deliberately build towards it for endgame while using some temporary substitute until then, nor does it seem good enough to replace a carefully balanced set already in place (that MK. XII starting nonsense makes more sense for a reputation set, not an event one, which makes me wonder if they are just flushing something that would have otherwise been meant for a proposed new, but since cancelled, rep).
