I was thinking of buying this since it's on sale, but was wondering if it was any good compared to the other summon able starships? What is your favorite to use? I tend to like the Hurq one the best.
The Beacon of Kahless floods your screen with a bright white light for a couple of seconds before Discovery-Era Klingon ships come to your aid.
As for how it compares to the Hur'q or Delta Reinforcements, I believe their summons are all pretty much all the same in DPS, but with a bit of trade-off for their extra ability -- Hur'q swarmers, for instance.

Yea I would call it about the same as the others. However the main advantage over the others is account unlock reclaim vs Mission Reward that has to be picked for each character you want it on.
Also note that the flash effect does affect other players, so if you're using it in a group setting, give a warning to the others on the team, like "flash out" or something. Also proximity to the Beacon when its activated does seem to affect the intensity. For example in Infected if you're on the right side and you pop the Beacon, I think anyone on the left side will get a lower intensity flash than the user being right on top of it. The farther away you are, the less it blinds you.
Admittedly while it is on screen canon accurate to how the Beacon functioned in Discovery, the white flash element of it has been the most... debated part of the Beacon.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

If you compare it to other summon consoles, this one also disables enemy ships for 8 seconds, which others don't. You could use it for an emergency getaway.

to add it's decent enough in a solo setting, but will put you at top of every other player's hate list if used in a group setting, if you don't warn them ahead of time, as the flash is very disorientating if you were moving in anything but a straight line.

This is why I don't use it in team-based content; I don't like to annoy other players if I can help it. In a similar vein, I don't use the neutronic eddy in TFOs unless I'm desperate; it annoys me when other players do it, and I refuse to be a hypocrite.

Yea I admit I tend to avoid it as well in a group out of respect for the rest of the team. I'm more likely to use the Hur'q summon. But again the downside to the Hur'q, Nimbus Pirate, and Delta summons are the fact those are mission rewards, whereas the Bacon of Kahless... I mean Beacon of Kahless... is an account unlock so it is easier to obtain. Hell the Nimbus Pirate summon is unavailable until you get up to like 65 because the Nimbus arc is in the Available tab rather than part of the mainline story like it used to be. The Delta summon I believe you have to get from a mission in the Iconian War arc, and the Hur'q summon is from the last mission in the Gamma arc.

that's why the wosrst thing I toss in space magic is the gravity well. ssv and VCIS are no where near as bad. I'm sure i could bump DPS a lot by getting the neutronic eddy or whatever the space lightning is in grav wells or the other tornado power, but I just don't
Dear God, if i could remove ONE thing from this game it would be that beacon. it and the beacons from the angel suit are proof the writers ignore physics because they think the idea of light being everywhere at once is cool
